LIVERPOOL, Aug 17 (SW) - Dutchman Dirk Kuyt of Feyenoord will be spending the coming four seasons with English FA Cup holders Liverpool.

The two teams came to an agreement after the international friendly between Ireland and the Netherlands on Wednesday.

Feyenoord inititially demanded a transfer fee of 20 million Euros, but Liverpool will be paying 18 million for the player. This is still by far the highest fee ever in Feyenoord's history.

Liverpool plan to present the player on Friday, a day ahead of the team's Premiership opener with newly promoted Sheffield United.

Kuyt himself was happy to be moving to what had already been his preferred team: "I expected something would happen this week. I wanted to play in the Champions League, that was a requirement for me to leave Feyenoord."

The transfer comes as bad news for Newcastle United, who were said to be interested in the 26 year old striker as well.
