LONDON, Aug 15 (SW) – Arsenal ‘keeper Jens Lehmann has admitted that he is seeking to retire from the game after Euro 2008.
Whilst that will bring down the curtain on his playing days, the former Dortmund shot-stopper also admitted he could leave Arsenal after this season as he would like to play one more season in the Bundesliga.
"At the age of 36, I have the European Championships ahead of me in two years and that is what I am working up to," said The Gunners player.
"Afterwards I think that will be it, both with the national team and as a professional footballer.
"We will have to see how the season goes, whether I extend with Arsenal or not.
"I would still like to play another season in Germany."
Despite criticism after joining the north London side, the 36-year-old was an inspirational figure in helping Arsene Wenger’s side to last season’s UEFA Champions League Final but was sent off in the early stages of the season’s showpiece occasion.
