SAO PAULO, Aug 11 (SW) - Corinthians midfielder Javier Mascherano left practice after an altercation on Thursday, which in combination with speculation surrounding team-mate Carlos Tevez’s future, further complicates the personnel situation for Brazil’s richest club.

The Argentina international was the victim of a hard foul by Marcelinho Carioca in a scrimmage, and after complaining to the head coach Geninho and shoving Marcelinho, Mascherano left the club’s training facilities.

Both players will be suspended for Sunday’s match against Figueirense, Geninho announced.

The altercation comes on top of further speculation that Mascherano’s Argentina team-mate Carlos Tevez is bound for Europe.

The two Argentineans have found it difficult to settle in Brazil, with Tevez recently being involved in a harrowing altercation with some of the club’s hardcore fans.

Tevez hinted of a move after the incident.

"My daughter Florencia is very scared and my wife is too. They are very sad. Things which the Corinthians supporters did, are not easy to forget. If I was single, I would be in Brazil for one more year. But I have to talk with my family."

Having lost 7 of their last 9 matches, Corinthians are struggling in the Brazilian first division, currently sitting dead last in the championship with just 13 points from 14 matches.
