WESTERLO, Apr 9 (SW) - After Anderlecht dropped points on Friday, that opened the door for Standard Liège to go to the top of the Jupiler League with their victory over Westerlo.
Charleroi - Anderlecht 1-1
Anderlecht looked to have extended their lead with over then-idle Standard, but a late goal by Joseph Akpala secured a draw for Charleroi.
Gregory Pujol gave Anderlecht the lead after just four minutes and that looked like it would hold up to be the winner, but Akpala scored two minutes from time to hamper Anderlecht's efforts at a championship.
Club Brugge - Zulte-Waregem 2-1
Club Brugge consolidated their spot in third place after coming from a goal down to defeat Zulte-Waregem.
The visitors went in front in the 14th minute as Tim Matthys found the back of the net, but an own goal by Ibrahima Salou leveled the match for Brugge.
Gert Verheyen then struck the winner for the home side in Emilio Ferrera's first game as manager of the club.
Westerlo - Standard 0-2
Christian Negouai put the visitors in front within the first minute to stamp their mark on the match, and after Milan Rapaic struck again for Standard in the 63rd minute, the match was beyond all doubt.
The result leaves Standard a point ahead of Anderlecht with four matches to play for both teams. They will meet in a heads-up duel that could decide the title in two week's time in Brussels.
Lokeren - Gent 1-2
Gent remain fourth, a point back of Club Brugge, after defeating Lokeren with a double by Dominic Foley.
Foley put Gent in front after just six minutes only for Hakim Bouchouari to equalize for Lokeren three minutes into the second half. Foley, though, completed his brace with 15 minutes left to play to give Gent the win.
FC Brussels - Excelsior Mouscron 0-1
With both sides apparently clear of relegation, Excelsior defeated FC Brussels to claim their second away win in their last three fixtures away from home.
The only goal was an own goal by Christ Bruno in the 14th minute, but Brussels will rue their chance to earn a point or more after the visitors had Kevin Hatchi sent off in the 28th minute.
Beveren - La Louvière 1-0
In a huge match in the relegation battle in Belgium, Lokeren moved out of the danger zone with a win over bottom side La Louvière.
Beveren scored the winner on the hour mark as Gerginho found the back of the net to move to safety for the time being.
Lierse - Germinal 0-2
Lierse currently sit in the spot for a playoff to avoid relegation after Germinal soundly beat them on Saturday.
Tosin Dusunmu put Germinal in front with four minutes to play in the first half, and Marc Hendrickx made the lead 2-0 to the visitors in the 82nd minute.
Sint-Truiden - Cercle Brugge 1-1
Sint-Truiden have slowly edged away from danger and after Saturday's draw with Cercle Brugge, sit seven points clear of Lierse.
Marco Nijs' goal after just seven minutes saw Sint-Truiden take the lead, but Brian Pinas got the equalizer for Cercle with 20 minutes left to play.
Roeselare - Racing Genk 1-2
A late comeback by Racing Genk saw them go to fifth in the Belgian top flight, defeating Roeselare away from home on Sunday.
James Lahousse's goal in the 58th minute was set up to be the winner for Roeselare, but an own goal by Jamique Vandamme with two minutes to play made it 1-1. That set up an injury-time winner from Koen Daerden to crush the home fans hopes.
