VIGO, Apr 22 (SW) - Celta de Vigo are close to reaching European football after a comfortable 4-0 win over Zaragoza, while Champions League revelations dropped to ninth place due to a defeat by Sociedad.

Celta de Vigo - Zaragoza 4-0

Celta, currently fifth in the Liga, needed thirty minutes to break the deadlock through Ernesto Canobbio. Larena Jorge added a second just after the break, and José Jesus Perera got the third in the 80th minute. One minute later, Canobbio set the final score to 4-0.

Alavés - Atletico de Madrid 0-1

Atletico de Madrid moved into 8th position thanks to a 0-1 win at Alavés. The only, and therefore winning goal came from Antonio Lopez in the 23rd minute.

Villarreal - Real Sociedad 0-1

Villarreal, who keep on impressing at the European level, fail to do so at home. Real Sociedad visited the coastal town and needed only nine minutes to open the score through Mikel Alonso. A second goal came from Mark Gonzalez in the 27th minute.
