Injury brings down curtain on Laursen season
BIRMINGHAM, Sep 16 (SW) – Aston Villa have again been left frustrated with a season-ending knee injury to Danish defender Martin Laursen.
The former AC Milan player received confirmation of the severity of the injury whilst visiting a specialist in America.
David O’Leary is obviously frustrated with losing the defender, who had appeared only once thus far this campaign and who only made thirteen appearances in his debut season last term after continual injury problems following a £3 million move from Serie A.
“I’ve spoken to our physio Alan Smith, who flew out with Martin and he’s confirmed we won’t see him in action again this season,” confirmed O’Leary.
“It’s a blow, but I suppose it’s one I was prepared for. I was looking at Martin in pre-season and thinking he wasn’t 100% right.”
