UDINE, Sep 16 (SW) – A day after scoring a magnificent hat-trick against Panathinaikos for Champions League debutants Udinese, star striker Vincenzo Iaquinta has stated his desire to improve even further.

“To debut in the Champions League with a hat-trick is the best anyone could hope for,” stated the delighted player.

“I used to make simple errors when I was given the chance to play because I was trying too hard.

“Since Luciano Spalletti took charge of the team I learned to keep my head and I still have a long way to improve, as Serse Cosmi is teaching me new things all the time.”

The performance of the Italian international was an important display for a player trying to impress national boss Marcello Lippi ahead of the final World Cup qualifying group games in October.

“I want to repay Italy coach Marcello Lippi for the confidence he has shown in me and obviously hope to be a part of the World Cup squad, but now my sole concern is to help Udinese.”
