ESSEN, 5 Oct (SW) ? German topclub FFC Turbine Potsdam reached the next round in the German cup by winning from lower classified SG Essen Schönebeck after a penalty shootout. Goalkeeper Nadine Angerers save on a Mirja Kothe final penalty brought the Potsdam win.

The first half hour both teams had chances. Conny Pohlers (Potsdam) hit the crossbar and Hartmann (Essen) missed the goal from three metres with a shot. In de 38th minute midtable Essen scored by a goal of Jennifer Balkenhol. But six minutes later Ariana Hingst equalised on a Conny Pohlers cross. Brazilian striker Cristiane made it 1-2 after the break and Turbine seemed to win the game easily. Then in the 70th minute Stefanie Weichelt was surprisingly free to kick in the 2-2.

The extra time brought no goals for both teams, so penalties would bring the outcome. Both goalkeepers came close to saving a penalty but after Isabel Kerschowski scored the 5-6, it was Nadine Angerer that stopped a badly kicked penalty of Mirja Kothe.
