GENOA, Jul 27 (SW) - Genoa has been demoted from the Italian top flight to Serie C1 after an investigation into match fixing allegations in the final day win over Venezia.

After a much-publicised investigation into the match that ultimately clinched promotion from Serie B, the club is now forced to begin from scratch.

Genoa’s fans had been dreaming of greater things to come after securing promotion for the first time in more than a decade, however they will now have mixed feelings of devastation and anger as the club’s predicament sinks in.
