BOLTON, Jul 9 (SW) - A disappointed Sam Allardyce is preparing for the new season with the knowledge that it is likely to be the last with the Wanderers for Greek winger Stelios Giannakopoulos.

After having offered a new contract to the player, Bolton were hoping to secure the future of the Greek international with suggestions that Liverpool are tracking the much improved wide man.

However Bolton manager Allardyce has confirmed that Stelios has rejected the new contract, but insists he will not sell the player and believes he will just have to make the best of the situation.

“We have made Stelios a good offer and he hasn’t agreed to it, but he won’t be going anywhere this summer,” confirmed the likeable manager.

“There’s no point selling him. It’s better we keep him for next season.

“He came here on a Bosman, so it’s not as though we will be losing anything by keeping him for another season,” concluded Allardyce in an interview with The Sun.
