Alfredo Di Stéfano hospitalized

SAGUNTO, Dec 24 (SW) - Real Madrid legend Alfredo Di Stéfano has been hospitalized following a heart attack late on Friday.

The 79-year-old is currently staying at the intensive care department of a hospital in Sagunto, near the city of Valencia. Real Madrid announced that the former player's current situation is stable.

The Argentinian started his career at River Plate in Buenos Aires, before moving to Colombian side Millionarios in Bogotá. In 1953 he made his most important move, by joining Real Madrid.

At the Spanish side was named best player in Europe in 1957 and 1959, and was part of the team that won the European Cup five times in a row. In each of the finals, Di Stéfano managed to score. At the national level, he won eight league titles.
