Viking - Monaco 1-0

The Norwegians got off to a flying start on 18 minutes when South African international Nkosinathi Nhleko took a cross from Thomas Pereira and steered it past Monaco goalkeeper Guillaume Warmuz for a shock 1-0 lead.

Monaco then started assault on the goal of Viking backstop Anthony Basso and the Frenchman was up to the task as he kept out good chances by Olivier Kapo, Camel Meriem and Jaroslav Plasil. CSKA Sofia - Hamburg 0-1

German contenders Hamburg pulled out a victory by a single goal in the Bulgarian capital.

Rafael van der Vaart scored the match's lone goal on 57 minutes when he beat goalkeeper Dejan Maksic of CSKA, who were beaten by Liverpool in the Champions League qualifying rounds, will next face fellow former-Champions League side Slavia Prague.
