LIVERPOOL, Jul 13 (CP) - FC Liverpool have started their Champions League campaign with a modest 3-0 win over Welsh champions TNS, at Anfield Road.

The European Champions finished fifth in the English Premier League, and were initially not allowed to defend their title. Eventually, the UEFA allowed the 'Reds' to play in the first preliminary round.

Liverpool faced TNS, and the first leg had the club's most talked about player at this moment, Steven Gerrard, scoring all three goals. The captain netted his first after eight minutes, and added a second in the 21st. With just nine minutes left in the second half, a third goal set the final score to 3-0.
