Netherlands: SC Heerenveen too strong for Ajax

HEERENVEEN, Dec 30 (SW) - SC Heerenveen defeated Ajax 4-2 at the Abe Lenstra stadium, while Groningen and Heracles earned points against Roda and Vitesse respectively.
The matches Sparta - NEC Nijmegen and AZ Alkmaar - ADO De Haag were postponed due to heavy snow. SC Heerenveen - Ajax 4-2 Georgios Samaras put Heerenveen in the lead after 35 minutes, and Klaas Jan Huntelaar, who played his last match for the Frisian side before moving to Ajax, scored the second goal against his future employer three minutes later. Andre Hanssen netted the third in the 67th, and Samaras got another for a 4-0 lead in the 76th. Ajax did something back with goals from Thomas Vermaelen in the 79th minute and Tomas Galasek (penalty) in stoppage time. Heerenveen's Paul Bosvelt caused the spotkick and was sent off by the referee. Roda JC - FC Groningen 1-3 FC Groningen visited Roda JC and needed to come back from behind to win 1-3 in Kerkrade. Andreas opened the score for Roda in the eleventh minute, and held on to their lead until the 72nd, when Danny Buijs levelled for Groningen. Mark Jan Fledderus put the guests in the lead ten minutes later, and Erik Nevland scored the third and last goal in the 88th minute. Heracles Almelo - Vitesse 3-1 The match between Heracles and Vitesse was practically decided in the first half. The hosts broke the deadlock through Sota Hirayama in the 24th minute, and Gert Jan Tamerus added another two goals in the 33rd and 39th minutes. Vitesse's only goal came from Fred Benson in the 75th minute. |
