Netherlands: PSV drop points while Feyenoord crush Willem II

EINDHOVEN, Dec 29 (SW) - PSV Eindhoven were held to a surprising draw by Twente while Feyenoord had an easy win over Willem II.
PSV Eindhoven - FC Twente 1-1 The reigning champions and league leaders conceded an opening goal from Kennedy Bakircoiglu in the 41st minute, but captain Phillip Cocu eventually managed to rescue a point, equalizing in the 70th. Feyenoord - Willem II 6-1 Striker Dirk Kuijt opened the score for Erwin Koeman's side in the 45th minute, and Sebastian Pardo added a second, five minutes after the break. Côte d'Ivoire striker Salomon Kalou netted the third in the 61st minute, after which Martijn Reuser got one back for Willem II in the 67th. However, Salomon Kalou restored the gap two minutes later, and Dirk Kuijt went on to score another two goals in the 75th and 79th minutes for a hattrick. RBC Roosendaal - FC Utrecht 1-2 Last-placed RBC could not compete with FC Utrecht. The visitors took a secure lead with goals from Nassir Maachi in the 30th minute and Stefaan Tanghe in the 75th, before Ebou Sillah scored a consolation goal for the hosts in the 84th minute. |
