Spain: Barcelona, Deportivo and Bilbao all win

CADIZ, Dec 17 (SW) – A Barcelona victory in Cadiz extended their lead at the top of La Liga to three points over Osasuna, who play Real Madrid on Sunday. Deportivo and Athletic Bilbao also picked up three points in their respective games.
Athletic Bilbao – Real Betis 2-0 Athletic Bilbao have gained 8 points from their last 4 games, before which they lay bottom of La Liga. Real Betis now claim that position and will find it even harder to climb the table after two first half goals saw them defeated at the Estadio San Mames. Ismael Urzaiz scored the first goal in the 21st minute and the game was wrapped up just 7 minutes later by Mikel Danobeitia. Celta de Vigo – Deportivo la Coruña 0-3 A blinding first half performance by the visitors was enough to seal a comfortable win over Celta, who were the shock league leaders at the start of the season. The scoring was opened by a Diego Tristan penalty in the 23rd minute. Two goals in quick succession just before half time by Valeron and Capdevila finished the home side off before the second half. Cadiz – FC Barcelona 1-3 The Primera Liga minnows Cadiz found it hard to cope with the might of Barcelona as the visitors ran out comfortable winners. Ludovic Guily socred the first goal after 31 minutes with Samuel Eto’o doubling the lead from the spot after Rafael Marquez was felled in the box. Eto’o scored his second of the game after some clever control and football by Leo Messi in the 48th minute.
