BREMEN, Dec 18 (SW) - Hamburger SV held Werder Bremen to a 1-1 draw to maintain their second place in the German Bundesliga.

Hamburg only needed a point to finish the calendar year in second position, just behind Bayern Munich. Werder Bremen did score the opening goal through Johan Micoud in the 45th minute, but the visitors levelled with a goal from Mustafa Kucukovic in the 67th.

Hertha BSC - Nurnberg 1-1

Hertha BSC only just managed to earn themselves a point against relegation candidates Nurnberg. The guests took the lead with a goal from Ivan Saenko in the 54th minute but the Berlin-based hosts equalized through Alexander Madlung in the 86th.
