BOGOTA, Jan 21 (AFP) - Colombian striker Juan Pablo Angel is bored playing at English Premiership club Aston Villa and would like to play for a bigger club, according to a radio report.
Angel, a key player in Colombia´s national squad, was bought from Argentinian club River Plate in January 2001 for a Villa club record 14 million dollars on a four-and-a-half-year contract
"The reality today is that I am bored and I want to leave Aston Villa and club officials know this," Angel said from Birmingham, England in an interview with Colombia radio station Caracol of Bogota.
"I want to go to a club which is likely to win trophies."
Angel said he had agreed a deal to go to another European club but it all fell through because of financial difficulties for the buyers, adding he has not ruled out a move to another outfit in the next few weeks.
Angel denied having any differences with Villa boss Graham Taylor, saying they were on very good terms.
"The problem is not with the coach, it´s just that I want to play for a more successful team," he continued.
Sources in Colombia have linked him with Bayern Munich, Galatasaray of Turkey, and Olympiakos in Greece. During the past year, Italian press have reported Lazio, AC Milan and Parma were interested in his services.
Villa are in 14th spot in the Premiership with just 29 points from 29 matches and a dip in form towards the end of the season could see them flirting with relegation.
