Piacenza sack Agostinelli

3 February 2003 11:50

ROME, Feb 3 (AFP) - Serie A strugglers Piacenza have sacked coach Andrea Agostinelli, the club confirmed Monday.

Agostinelli, 45, has paid the price for the team´s dismal season which has seen them slide down the table into the relegation zone.

He becomes the fourth coach in Italy´s first division to lose his job this season.

Agostinelli is expected to be replaced by former coach Gigi Cagni who took Piacenza into Serie A for the first time in 1993.

Piacenza´s 4-1 home defeat to Brescia on Saturday left them third from bottom, five points adrift of Atalanta, who are a place above them.
