HOW DID THAT NOT GO IN!? What a miss that is from Firmino, who - despite having a free-header six yards out, can only hit the woodwork, with Lallana failing to convert the rebound.
90' +3
CHANCE! Lallana twists free on the edge of Swansea’s area, slipping it through to Salah, who drills his cross-cum-shot straight out of play. Just a minute remaining here…
90' +1
There will be a minimum of four minutes added time at the Liberty. Liverpool keep up the pressure - Naughton’s poor clearance falling to Can - but he can only shank his volley over.
90'
Liverpool seem to be running out of ideas now, with Klopp urging his team to flood forward. Swansea have got 11 men behind the ball, and it is all one-way traffic, but still Swansea stand firm.
87'
Bony buys Swansea some time with some good hold up play, but Liverpool do manage to regain it and are now on the front foot, with just over three minutes of normal time remaining. Firmino tries his luck from 20 yards out, but Mawson is again well placed to make the block.
85'
Last-ditch defending from Fernandez, but he nevertheless concedes a corner. Salah goes short, eventually putting in a cross to Van Dijk, whose header is a tame one.
82'
Firmino manages to keep a move alive with an acrobatic cross back to the edge of Swansea’s box. Van Dijk is running onto it, but his half-volley is nowhere near the target.
81'
Gomez finds enough space down the right to try and test Fabianski from range, but the full-back can only slice his strike well wide of the net.
79'
W. Bony enters the game and replaces J. Ayew.
A second change now for the home side. Ayew has put in a tough shift up top, and will now make way for Wilfried Bony.
78'
CHANCE! A fantastic first touch for Ings, as he creates space for himself with a superb turn away from Van der Hoorn before looking to plant a finish across goal, but Fabianski is down quickly to make the stop.
Minute
Description
76'
The major problem Swansea are having is that they simply can’t hold onto the ball for ling enough at the moment, and that is obviously inviting more pressure. So far, though, the hosts are resolutely standing firm at the back.
73'
D. Ings enters the game and replaces G. Wijnaldum.
The last team to beat the team top of the table and then lose to the team bottom of the table in their very next Premier League game were Reading in August 2007. Klopp, in an attempt to correct that, will now make his second change...
Wijnaldum is the man to be withdrawn, with Danny Ings coming on. That would suggest a change in shape for the Reds, with four forwards now on the pitch.
71'
Finally, Swansea manage to carve out an opportunity to shoot at the other end - Carroll bringing a save out of Karius at the German’s near post. Moments later, Matip gets high upfield and unleashes a shot, but like his compatriot Can, his effort is a poor one.
70'
Can lets rip with a powerful strike from range, but his effort sails way off target. Klopp looks on in despair from the touchline.
68'
A. Lallana enters the game and replaces A. Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Here is Liverpool’s first substitution. Oxlade-Chamberlain, who couldn’t quite match the heights he reached against Manchester City, goes off, with Adam Lallana coming on.
67'
Fabianski’s reading of the game is exceptional once more, as he uses his head to clear a long ball from deep, with Salah baring down on goal. Swansea's goalkeeper is having some game...
65'
Mane wants a penalty after flinging himself to the ground under pressure from Naughton, but the referee is rightly having none of it. He allows the play to go on, however, instead of pulling it back for simulation, and Salah’s strike is deflected wide for a corner. Fabianki, though, takes control of the situation from the resulting set-piece.
64'
T. Carroll enters the game and replaces N. Dyer.
And, after a good bit of work from Naughton to prevent Liverpool countering, Swansea will make that switch. Carroll is on in place of Dyer.
63'
More brave and decisive decision-making from Swansea’s goalkeeper, who sprints off his line to take in Oxlade-Chamberlain’s lofted pass. The hosts are prepping a change, with Tom Carroll about to come on...
61'
SAVE! Brilliant from Fabianski, who gets across sharply to tip Salah’s dipping free-kick over.
60'
That’s a harsh call from referee Neil Swarbrick, who awards Mane a free-kick right on the edge of Swansea’s area, even though Ki took the ball with his challenge.
58'
Vague appeals for a penalty from Firmino, as his strike is fairly blocked by Mawson. Salah tries his luck on the follow up, but Swansea’s goal scorer is again on hand to deflect it wide.
57'
Positive goalkeeping once again from Fabianksi, who does not hesitate in rushing off his line and gathering in the ball ahead of Firmino, who had got goal side of his marker.
56'
Crucial defending from Naughton, who sticks with Robertson and gets back just in time to make a vital tackle, denying Liverpool’s full-back the chance to shoot from close range. Robertson gets free down the left moments later, threading a great cross into the six-yard box, but nobody in red can get on the end of it.
54'
That’s poor from Fer who, with the chance to play Ayew clear, only manages to conceded possession. Salah is then afforded far too much space close to Swansea’s area, but Liverpool's forward curls his strike wide.
52'
Clever play from Ayew, who draws another clumsy tackle from Matip, who was booked late in the first half. The German isn’t happy with the referee’s decision, but it was certainly a foul.
50'
A sustained spell of pressure from Liverpool, but it comes to nothing, with Swansea’s defence staying rigidly in shape. Ayew eventually tries to counter following slack play from Oxlade-Chamberlain, but can’t hold onto the ball long enough for his teammates to catch up.
48'
No changes for either side at the interval, though it won't be too long until Klopp does look to his bench should Liverpool continue to toil in front of goal. As I write, Firmino gets into the area between Swansea's centre-halves, but Van der Hoorn does just enough to clear the danger.
46'
Liverpool have only lost one of their last nine Premier League games in which they've been trailing by a single goal at half-time, with that defeat coming at Hull in February 2017. Can they turn it around here, as the Reds get the second half started.
45' +1
CHANCE! Ki concedes possession to Firmino, who quickly slips Salah through. The winger lofts a cross into the waiting Mane, but he can only hook his volley wide.
45'
J. Matip gets yellow.
It has been a frustrating night for the Reds so far, and it gets worse now, as Matip picks up a booking for a cynical foul on Clucas, who looked set to break for the hosts.
44'
A. Robertson gets yellow.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, though, Swansea stand firm - Ayew doing well to win a foul from Robertson. Liverpool’s full-back has another kick out at the Swansea man, and picks up a booking. That pause will allow Fernandez, now patched up, to return to the play.
42'
Well, Swansea are down to 10 men for the time being, and for a rather ludicrous reason - Fernandez having suffered a cut to his nose during the celebrations.
40'
A. Mawson has scored a goal for Swansea City! Assist by F. Fernández.
GOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLL!!! SWANSEA LEAD AT THE LIBERTY! An error from Van Dijk from a corner, as the Dutchman heads it down to Fernandez. He manages to cushion the ball into Mawson’s path, and the former Barnsley man makes no mistake with a neat first-time finish into the bottom corner!
Fernandez will be awarded with the assist, as he managed to bundle the ball back to the waiting Mawson from Van Dijk’s failed clearance.
38'
Although Swansea have conceded 27 goals in 13 Premier League games against Liverpool previously, just six of those have come at Liberty Stadium.
36'
Clucas’ delivery is a good one, but Van Dijk gets there first. Naughton picks up the rebound, only to send his volley crashing into the stands.
35'
A chance now for Swansea to craft something, as Dyer draws a clumsy foul from Van Dijk out on the right wing. Ki and Clucas stand over it...
33'
Matip - at the culmination of a brilliant run from deep - has to improvise to keep a move alive. The ball falls out to Oxlade-Chamberlain on the edge of Swansea’s area, but his strike is hit firmly at Fabianksi.
31'
Swansea sat far too deep there, giving Van Dijk too much time to pick his pass, and with the Dutchman’s quality on the ball, it was no surprise he picked out Salah, whose finish was poor.
30'
CHANCE! Van Dijk plays a wonderful pass over the top of Swansea’s defence, and it falls perfectly onto Salah’s left foot, but the Egypt winger can’t keep his volley down.
28'
Liverpool have had close to 70 per-cent of possession so far, but have managed just one effort on Swansea’s goal - Van Dijk’s header a matter of moments ago. Klopp’s side will need to step it up a gear if they are to create a real opportunity from open play, here.
25'
The Reds have scored at least twice in each of their last six Premier League away games – just one short of their record in the competition of seven between February and May 2014.
23'
CLOSE! A free header for Van Dijk, who gets clear of Fernandez to meet Oxlade-Chamberlain’s cross. The Dutchman makes a solid contact, but can’t find the target.
22'
Oxlade-Chamberlain delivers a decent cross, but Naughton is well placed to nod it away for a corner.
21'
Frustration now for Swansea, as Salah buys a cheap foul from Mawson, and Liverpool get a free-kick in a dangerous position down the right flank…
20'
Despite a few shaky moments, Swansea’s defence has looked solid so far, with Liverpool’s front line lacking the guile to craft an opening as of yet.
18'
That was certainly a close call for the official. Ki whips in the resulting set-piece, but Karius is off his line quickly to punch it clear.
17'
Ayew finally gets the chance to run at Liverpool’s defence after Clucas sells Gomez short. Oxlade-Chamberlain manages to get back and shepherd the forward towards the touchline. The Ghanaian thinks he has kept it in, proceeding to hammer it past Karius, but the referee had already given a corner.
14'
CHANCE! Swansea get lucky, as Mawson drills a clearance straight at Firmino. The Brazil forward reacts quickly and prods it goalwards, but the move is rightly pulled back, with Mawson’s clearance having struck Firmino’s arm.
12'
This is Liverpool's first away league visit to a side starting that day bottom of the Premier League since February 2016, when they won 6-0 at Aston Villa.
9'
Brave goalkeeping from Fabianski, who is out swiftly to deny Mane from point-blank range after the Liverpool winger had got in behind Swansea’s defence, albeit he may have strayed offside.
7'
Mawson does well to cut out Gomez’s pass and then step out of the defence before slipping a pass in Ayew’s general direction. Swansea’s forward busts a gut to get on the end of it, but can’t prevent the ball trickling out of play for a Liverpool throw.
5'
Liverpool are seeing plenty of the ball already, with Matip and Van Dijk given plenty of space to drive into from the back. Swansea’s defensive line is staying firm, however, as they come up as one to catch Mane offside.
3'
Liverpool won 5-0 in the reverse fixture on Boxing Day. The Reds haven't won both league matches in a season by such a margin or greater against an opponent since 2001-02, against Ipswich Town.
1'
KICK-OFF! Swansea, donning their all-white home strip, get proceedings underway.
Welcome to LIVE coverage of today's Premier League encounter between struggling Swansea City and high-flying Liverpool. Stick right here for all the action as it happens from the Liberty Stadium!
Swansea's dismal season has resulted in them sitting bottom with just 15 games remaining, six points adrift of safety, and Carlos Carvalhal faces a huge task keeping them in the top flight. The Portuguese has overseen three league fixtures so far, winning one, losing one and securing a draw against Newcastle United last time out.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have their sights firmly set on a top four finish and Champions League qualification. The title may be out of sight for Jurgen Klopp's men, but a victory tonight would make it five wins from five in the league on the back of their superb 4-3 win over champions elect Manchester City last weekend.
The team news is in from south Wales. We'll start off with the home side...
Swansea City (5-3-2): Fabianski; Naughton, Van der Hoorn, Fernandez, Mawson, Olsson; Ki, Fer, Clucas; Dyer, Ayew.
Swansea City substitutes: Bony, Nursing, Nordfeldt, Carroll, Bartley, Mesa, McBurnie.
Carvalhal goes with a five-at-the-back system for tonight’s clash, with Swansea likely to have little of the ball against Liverpool’s full-throttle attack. Andre Ayew and Nathan Dyer’s pace may well be crucial on the counter for the lowest scorers in England’s top four divisions.
Liverpool substitutes: Milner, Klavan, Lallana, Mignolet, Ings, Solanke, Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Karius; Gomez, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Can, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Firmino, Mane.
Liverpool’s fab four has dwindled to a three with the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, but the remaining forward line of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firminio and Mohamed Salah still strike fear into the hearts of opposition defenders. Virgil van Dijk, meanwhile, returns to Klopp’s line-up after he missed the win over City through injury. It’s the defender’s first Premier League game for the Reds.
The team’s are out of the tunnel and kick-off at the Liberty is just moments away. First, however, there will be a tribute to the late Cyrille Regis, and former England captain Jimmy Armfield, who passed away on Monday.
HALF TIME: Swansea City 1 Liverpool 0.
Carvalhal’s gameplan has worked well so far, with Liverpool restricted to very little. Their best chance, in fact, came in first-half stoppage time - Mane drilling wide of the target following good play from Salah, and Klopp's men must improve after the interval.
Well, Liverpool’s old defensive frailties came back to haunt them, there, as Virgil van Dijk’s error was punished by Alfie Mawson.
FULL TIME! Despite throwing everyone forward at the corner, Liverpool can’t find an equaliser, and Swansea hold out to claim all three points, as Alfie Mawson’s first-half effort secures a vital victory for the Premier League’s bottom club!
That was a brilliant display from the Swans, who put in a resilient performance against one of the Premier League’s best sides. They rode their luck at times, but definitely deserved the victory.
As for Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk’s error on his league debut has proved costly, and the Reds stay in fourth, just two points ahead of the chasing pack. Swansea, meanwhile, stay bottom, but are level on points with West From. Could this just be the catalyst for a remarkable promotion push!
Well, that’s all from me for now. Until next time, thank you and goodbye!
