Everton have seen aside the threat and they are now camped out deep in the Watford half, winning a succession of throws near the corner flag. Gueye is putting in some excellent work here to help see this out, as he has done all night.
90' +2
Amrabat is starting to wreak a bit of havoc on the right, finding space to whip in a cross, which he does so superbly, but it's Jagielka who rises to the task of meeting it, clearing the danger. It's not all the way clear just yet, however, as Watford keep the pressure on.
90'
There will be a minimum of five minutes added on at the end of this match.
88'
All hands on deck for Watford as they pour bodies forward in a desperate search for the equaliser. Everton have Lukaku posted up near the halfway line as they look to spring him on a break to cap off his season with one final goal at Goodison.
86'
A. Koné enters the game and replaces Kevin Mirallas.
Arouna Kone is greeted by an appreciative applause as he comes on for what will be his final appearance at Goodison, set to depart Everton at the expiration of his contract this summer. Mirallas is the one replaced.
85'
STAT: Watford (40 points) still need five points from their remaining three matches to equal their 45-point tally from last season under Quique Sanchez Flores.
83'
Time is winding down on the Hornets as they continue to struggle mightily to get on the front foot. There's just no rhythm to their play in attack, and even when the opportunities do come, say from a corner, the deliveries into the area are really lacking in quality.
81'
M. Niang enters the game and replaces É. Capoue.
Mbaye Niang is finally brought on here by the Hornets, in what is a positive switch as he replaces Capoue. The midfielder is not happy with the change as he heads straight down the tunnel.
80'
G. Barry enters the game and replaces R. Barkley.
Ardent applause for Ross Barkley as he makes his way off the pitch, for what could be his final Goodison appearance in an Everton shirt. Of course he could put pen to paper on a new deal, but the future is murky right now as things stand. He's replaced for the final 10 minutes here by Gareth Barry.
Minute
Description
79'
The tempo has fizzled out a bit as Watford's feeble attempts to find an equaliser are falling very much short. Everton have slowed their attacking intent, but the Hornets still have been unable to take advantage of the extra time they have been afforded on the ball.
77'
STAT: Watford have never won away at Everton in any competition, losing nine out of 10 games. They avoided defeat in their last visit there in August 2015 however, a 2-2 draw on the opening day of last season.
75'
Play is brought to a halt as a young boy has wandered onto the pitch, sprinting his way into the spotlight. The cameras veer away, but the supporters cheer on the young lad in this brave endeavor.
73'
You have to wonder when Mbaye Niang may enter the fold for Watford. They really have no reason not to go for it, so why not bring on another striker? Their goal drought away from home is really bordering on the absurd now as they approach 600 minutes without one.
71'
N. Amrabat enters the game and replaces V. Behrami.
Watford's second change of the evening sees Nordin Amrabat replace Behrami. The winger has started Watford's last seven games, and brings with him some refreshingly direct play off the bench.
70'
J. Holebas gets yellow.
Holebas becomes the third Watford player booked on the night.
68'
Should he have done better? Schneiderlin rises highest to meet Baines' corner at the near post and has no excuses not to send a glancing header on target, but he just seemed to get the timing of it all wrong as he lifts it over the bar. He has to at least be testing Gomes from there.
66'
STAT: This is Everton's final Premier League game of the season at Goodison Park and they have won 40 points there so far this season. Should they win this match, they'll have won more points at home in 2016-17 (43) than in any previous PL season and their most since 1989-90 (45).
64'
PENALTY APPEALS DENIED! That was a real strong shout for Everton as Janmaat lunges into the back of Lukaku in the area, as the striker aimed to get on the end of a juicy rebound. It didn't look like the Dutchman got much of the ball, if any, while he certainly did make contact with the striker first. Everton robbed of one there.
62'
Watford have hardly produced much a response to falling behind. They're completely out of ideas in attack, failing to muster any sort of threat. Gueye is putting in some excellent work as well for Everton to stifle the visitors in their attempts to get forward, winning the ball back with great regularity.
60'
The 1-0 scoreline has to feel like 3-0 for Watford considering their recent struggles in front of goal. They have shown no real signs of being able to break their attacking drought, making this a rather monumental task for them to try and leave Merseyside with a result.
58'
The atmosphere has been brought back into Goodison Park following the goal, and the spring is very much back in Everton's step. Take nothing away from the strike from Barkley, but questions have to be raised about Prodl's defending there. The centre-half dropped off rather inexplicably, affording all the space for the midfielder to shoot, while providing a screen on Gomes.
56'
R. Barkley has scored a goal for Everton! Assist by P. Jagielka.
Jagielka picked out a really nice pass there to spark the break, as he is credited with the assist.
THERE'S THE BREAKTHROUGH! It's the man in the spotlight who steals the headlines! Will he stay or will he go? Well, the speculation isn't getting to Barkley who takes a pass from Jagielka and drills a wonderful effort into the bottom corner from 20 yards!
54'
STAT: Watford defeated Everton at Vicarage Road earlier this season (3-2). They have only defeated a side both home and away in a single Premier League season on two occasions before – Aston Villa and Newcastle United, both in 2015-16.
52'
He can't keep it down! Lovely work from Mirallas to chip in a cheeky cross, which Gomes parries, but only as far as Mirallas. The Belgian has more than half the goal gaping with Gomes struggling to recover, but can't keep his shot down! All he needed to do there was hit the target!
50'
This is all much better from Everton, who seem to have their spark back, with the half-time change very much to thank for it. Valencia picks out a terrific ball to spring Lukaku into space down the right, and he has options in the centre, but overhits his cross as the chance goes begging.
48'
Davies has switched to right-back to make room for Valencia in attack, and the two of them link up here to negotiate Everton's first chance of the half. Davies gets forward on the overlap and plays in Valencia, who forces Gomes into action as he tries to squeeze the ball in at the near post.
46'
E. Valencia enters the game and replaces M. Holgate.
Everton make one change at the break, with Enner Valencia replacing Holgate. It's a positive switch from the Toffees.
Everton get the second half underway...
45' +3
HALF-TIME: EVERTON 0-0 WATFORD.
45' +2
Watford are ending this half on a positive, enjoying some nice possession as they poke and prod along the fringes of the final third. Okaka is proving a nice target up top, doing well to move off the ball and make himself available, holding it up well when the opportunity presents itself.
45'
There will be three minutes added on at the end of this first half.
43'
The melee has lit a bit of a fire under Everton, but the hosts have lost the sparkle they had earlier in the half. It's all a bit stale from them here as we approach the interval, and while motivation could be an issue, they certainly still want to end their Goodison campaign on a high.
41'
STAT: Watford have not scored a goal away from home in the Premier League for 568 minutes (and counting) now and overall in the competition they have netted just once in their last 532 minutes of action (and counting).
39'
D. Janmaat gets yellow.
V. Behrami gets yellow.
Behrami is booked for his foul leading up to the altercation.
And Janmaat sees yellow for igniting the whole aftermath.
THERE'S THE FIRE! Ah, that's the passion this game was missing! Janmaat and Davies come together in the Watford end, and the kerfuffle leads to a whole slew of players coming to the defence of their team-mates. Maybe that will light a spark under these teams!
37'
C. Zúñiga enters the game and replaces C. Kabasele.
The change has been made now by Watford following a lengthy stoppage. Juan Zuniga has come on to replace the injured Kabasele.
35'
Kabasele goes down for Watford and requires treatment. He looks in some real discomfort as the medical staff looks at his right knee, and Prodl signals over to the touchline for a substitute to get ready. The Hornets already have a plethora of defensive injuries to worry about with Miguel Britos, Younes Kaboul and Craig Cathcart in the infirmary.
33'
There's been very few fouls in this match, with Deeney's latest taking the tally to just four in this first half, evenly split between the two sides. Both clubs came out of the gate hot, wanting to make a good first impression, but that desire has really gone now.
31'
The tempo continues to dwindle here. Everton's initiative has faded and Watford are trying to respond with some attacking play of their own, but it's not happening for them. The Hornets have gone over nine hours now without scoring away from home.
29'
STAT: Everton have failed to score in each of their last three Premier League games – they haven’t failed in four consecutively since April 2006.
27'
Watford are not mathematically secure from relegation, but it would take nothing short of a miracle for them to go down. They would need to lose out, have both Swansea and Hull win out, while Hull would also have to make up the goal difference between the two sides (currently at 12). Palace would also need to win one of their remaining two games, or draw both.
25'
The tempo has slowed down a bit as Everton adopt a more patient approach to combat Watford as the visitors shift their focus to defence. The Hornets are keeping a lot of bodies behind the ball now as Everton knock it about in midfield, under little to no pressure.
23'
DELICIOUS HIT! Tom Davies has been a real bright spot for this Toffees side and certainly has played himself into the fold for next season with a strong string of performances in this campaign. The midfielder lines up an excellent strike here, forcing Gomes into a great save from 25 yards. The keeper was at full-stretch there to parry.
21'
The rain continues to fall at Goodison, and it's falling hard. So far it doesn't seem to have had an effect on the match, but as rain collects in puddles on the pitch it could develop into an issue. Everton continue to push forward with good intent, eager to get after this Watford defence.
19'
STAT: Watford (15) have only scored one goal more in the Premier League in 2017 than Romelu Lukaku has scored on his own for Everton (14).
17'
It's refreshing to see both sides approach this game with reckless abandon. With next to nothing to play for, the hope was that we would be treated to an open match with a good tempo, and so far both have delivered.
15'
OFF THE WOODWORK! The seas part for Okaka as he drives forward in attack, and opts to let fly. He has a good sight at goal, and leaves Robles rooted to his spot, but strikes his effort against the outside of the woodwork!
13'
SPLENDID AGAIN FROM GOMES! Jagielka gets in front of his marker to meet Baines' cross and thrust in a volley towards the near post from eight yards, but Gomes reacts brilliantly to deny him! This has been a wonderful opening to the match at Goodison, with both teams showing good initiative.
11'
Watford have responded nicely here, winning a pair of corners as they look to get into a bit of a rhythm. Lukaku tracks back well to deny the first chance, but the ensuing set-piece leads to loads of chaos in the box, with Capoue and Prodl both seeing shots blocked from close range.
9'
STAT: After winning their first four Premier League encounters with Watford between 1999 and 2007, the Toffees have failed to win any of their last three (D2 L1).
7'
GREAT SAVE! Splendid footwork from Barkley to wiggle out of a tight space inside the box and orchestrate room for a shot, but Gomes gets down smartly to deny him from 10 yards with a really splendid piece of goalkeeping. Pressure stays on here as Everton continue to force the issue.
5'
There's plenty of speculation surrounding Barkley and his future at the club, with his contract up at the end of the season. Ronald Koeman will have strong financial backing as he aims to get this club competing at the level they should be, and it remains an unknown as to whether or not the midfielder will be a part of those plans.
3'
Everton start brightly, with Mirallas making a strong run to generate a threatening attack, but Barkley gives the ball away in the end as the opportunity goes begging. The Toffees have a good intent about them in the early going.
1'
AND THEY'RE OFF! Watford in white as they get us underway, attacking left to right, with Everton in blue tops and white shorts.
Hello and welcome to Goodison Park for live coverage of this Friday night Premier League clash between Everton and Watford!
Everton are ensconced in seventh place with two matches remaining on the season, unable to move higher or lower in the standings. It’s a vast improvement on last year’s finish, four places higher, already surpassing last season’s point total by 11, with two games to spare.
Toffees management will be looking forward to what presents as a big summer on Merseyside, with questions surrounding the possible departure of Romelu Lukaku. It’s not summer just yet, though, and Everton would like to bid a proper farewell to the Goodison faithful tonight.
Watford have little to play for themselves, already hitting the magical 40-point mark in the middle of April. The Hornets have lost three on the spin, however, and would like to finish the campaign strong, but it will be far from easy as they close out against Everton, Chelsea and Manchester City.
Watford could conceivably move as high as eighth place by the end of the season, with the middle third of the table so congested, but it would be a tall order given their remaining schedule. Still, they are just one point back of the 13th place they finished last season, and would love to equal or improve on that mark.
Ronald Koeman makes three changes from the defeat to Swansea. Morgan Schneiderlin returns from a two-match absence with a thigh injury to replace Gareth Barry, while Joel Robles deputises in goal with Maarten Stekelenburg missing out with a groin problem. The other change sees Ross Barkley restored at the expense of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Walter Mazzarri makes three changes as well from their defeat at Leicester. Jose Holebas is back from injury, replacing Nordin Amrabat, while Valon Behrami comes in for Tom Cleverley who is ineligible to face his parent club. The final swap sees Troy Deeney restored in attack at the expense of Mbaye Niang.
Scoreless at the break at Goodison, and probably a fair representation of the 45 minutes that were. Everton started brightly and were denied the opener on a few occasions by Gomes, who did well to deny Barkley, Jagielka and Davies. It all became very flat from the Toffees from that point on, however, while Watford's struggles in front of goal continue.
Ross Barkley scored the lone goal as he manages to overcome the speculation surrounding his future at the club, securing three points for Everton. Watford's goal drought continues as they limp towards the finish line in this 2016/17 Premier League season. That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
