P. Aubameyang has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by S. Kagawa.
Kagawa returns the favour with an assist.
HE FINALLY HAS HIS GOAL! After missing chance after chance, Aubameyang has his goal at last! Kagawa provides a lovely chip over the top to play the striker through, and this time he's able to round Adler before finishing it off. It really is harsh on Hamburg who played better than the scoreline indicates.
90'
The fourth official has indicated there will be two extra minutes added on at the end of this match.
88'
The tempo has fizzled out, with Hamburg accepting their fate now. Full credit to them for the way they battled tonight, and they had their share of chances to make this a very different game, but just couldn't take advantage. They can hang their heads high nonetheless, heading into an equally tricky clash against Hoffenheim on Saturday.
86'
STAT: Hamburg haven’t lost any of their last four games, picking up an impressive 10 points in the process (W3, D1). The last time they enjoyed a run like that was between matchdays 4 and 7 of the 2012/13 campaign.
84'
P. Lasogga enters the game and replaces B. Wood.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga comes on to try and end a 641 minute goalless drought in the Bundesliga, as he replaces Wood with Hamburg's final change.
83'
V. Janjičić enters the game and replaces A. Ekdal.
It's a Bundesliga debut for Hamburg's 18-year-old Vasilije Janjicic, who replaces Ekdal for the final minutes.
81'
S. Kagawa has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund! Assist by P. Aubameyang.
Wonderful skill and vision from Aubameyang to pick up the assist, serving that up on a platter for Kagawa.
THREE POINTS IN THE BAG! Dortmund can rest easy as they finally put this one to bed! It's all about the pace of Aubameyang who simply blows by his marker, bursting into the area before unselfishly squaring for Kagawa to finish into the empty net.
80'
L. Holtby gets yellow.
That's incredibly cynical from Holtby! Lazy as it gets, as Dembele knocks the ball by him and Holtby shows no desire to run with him, so he sticks a foot out with the sole purpose of tripping the attacker. It's a yellow card and no argument from Holtby.
78'
N. Şahin enters the game and replaces Raphaël Guerreiro.
F. Passlack enters the game and replaces J. Weigl.
Double change for Dortmund, their second and third of the match, the first of which sees Nuri Sahin replace Guerreiro.
The other swap sees Felix Passlack enter the fray at the expense of Weigl.
Minute
Description
76'
Hamburg have nothing to show for their prolonged spell in attack, and Dortmund seem to have weathered the storm. Into the final 15 minutes now, and Hamburg really have to start throwing caution to the wind in search of an equaliser. Their goal differential is already going to be hard to salvage, so it's the points they need.
74'
OFF THE MARK AGAIN! Aubameyang has had more than a handful of chances tonight, three of them as clear cut as they come. The flag stays down as he finds himself in once again here. This time he has Adler beaten, but rolls his shot wide of the far post!
72'
STAT: Markus Gisdol has won just one of his eight competitive games vs. Borussia (D3, L4). That was a key victory though – TSG’s 2-1 triumph in Dortmund in May 2013 saw them climb into 16th on the final day of the season. They then went on to survive via the play-off.
70'
Dortmund have a bit of a concern here as Bartra puts the ball out under his own accord before going down and asking for treatment. Tuchel looks on worriedly, and he may be forced into making his second change here, though the Spaniard is able to pop back up and walk off under his own power. Something to monitor, for sure.
68'
Dortmund are under siege all of a sudden, as momentum has swung solely onto the side of the visitors. It remains wonderfully stretched out on the pitch, as Hamburg mount attack after attack. They have to be wary of being caught out on the break, however.
66'
F. Kostić gets yellow.
Kostic goes into the book, the second Hamburg player and third total to see yellow tonight.
65'
CLOSER THEY COME! Hamburg looking really threatening as they up their pursuit for an equaliser! Kostic peels off his marker at the far post and gets on the end of a cross. He smartly bounces a volley towards goal, but it crashes onto the roof of the net!
64'
WIDE! It's all opening up again! The game has become incredibly stretched since the substitutions. Wood has a header cleared off the line at one end, before Kagawa's pullback is cut out at the other. Hamburg get right back and Wood has another shooting chance, but he misses at the near post!
62'
Better from Hamburg as they enjoy their first real attacking spell in this second half. They can't make Burki work from it, but it should serve as a source of encouragement at least for them, with Hunt now partnering Wood up top and providing some much-needed support.
60'
A. Hunt enters the game and replaces M. Gregoritsch.
C. Pulišić enters the game and replaces E. Mor.
The visitors make a change of their own as Aaron Hunt, having recently recovered from a knock, replaces Gregoritsch.
Emre Mor, seconds after narrowly missing with a low shot aimed towards the far corner, is replaced by Christian Pulisic.
58'
EKDAL SAVES A GOAL! Absolutely no doubt about it, he's denied Dortmund a second! Dembele with an excellent run into the area, showing terrific composure to cut onto his right and open up the angle, but Ekdal is able to stick a leg out and deflect the effort wide, with Adler clearly beaten!
56'
GREAT STUFF FROM OSTRZOLEK! Kagawa finds a bit of space in the area to get on the end of a cross in from the left. He brings it down smartly and surely has to score, but Ostrzolek somehow manages to recover and block his sight of goal, turning the eventual strike aside!
54'
STAT: BVB haven’t lost any of their last 33 top-flight home games (W27, D6) – a club record. Their last Bundesliga home defeat was exactly two years ago (4th April 2015), with FC Bayern beating then Jurgen Klopp’s side 1-0.
52'
Dembele twists and turns and does well to win a free-kick in a dangerous area, close to the same spot - just on the opposite end of the pitch - to where Castro scored from in the first half. Guerreiro takes this time, however, and he's unable to beat the wall.
50'
STUNNING SAVE! Incredible reflexes from Adler, who by now has surely atoned for his error leading to the goal! Aubameyang unselfishly squares a header for Guerreiro, on the end of Dembele's cross, but the full-back is denied remarkably from five yards!
48'
Controlled start from Dortmund to this second half. Patient in possession, but the intent is there. They will be careful not to be complacent, similar to the weekend when they were up 1-0, missed a plethora of chances and were forced to settle for a draw.
46'
Back underway in Dortmund!
45'
HALF-TIME: DORTMUND 1-0 HAMBURG.
44'
One for the cameras there as Adler dives across, rather unnecessarily, to parry what was really a harmless header from Aubameyang, who couldn't generate any power to test the Hamburg keeper.
43'
The tempo is livening up again as we approach the interval. Back and forth these sides go, always looking to attack. These teams have both adopted a very positive approach in this match and it's been an excellent watch from a neutral perspective as a result.
41'
STAT: Hamburg are enjoying their best second half of a season for eight years. They had 18 points at this stage in 2008/09. BVB, on the other hand, are having their worst second half of a campaign since 2009/10 (15 points under Jurgen Klopp).
39'
Has to be better! An incisive move from Dortmund to send Mor into the area via the left channel. He has a clear lane to pull it back for Aubameyang, but instead tries to ambitiously loft a cross over for Dembele at the far post which doesn't come to fruition. Chance wasted for the hosts.
37'
Wood is putting in some outstanding work leading the line. He's proving a real nuisance as he chases down every ball, not knowing the meaning of a lost cause. He does well here to get on the end of a cross after a Piszczek giveaway, but can't get his header on target at the near post!
35'
Hamburg remain parked in the attacking half, with Dortmund struggling to find their way out. Kagawa commits a foul trying to win the ball back, awarding Hamburg a free-kick in a threatening area, but Holtby's delivery is incredibly wasteful.
33'
Hamburg are growing in stature here, enjoying much more time in attack as they start to take the game to the hosts. They are very much in the ascendency, but just lack that required final ball at the moment. Still, positive signs for Gisdol's side.
31'
STAT: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored in six straight competitive games for BVB for the first time (10 goals in total). The Gabon international has bagged 7 goals in 7 Bundesliga meetings with HSV, more than against any other team. He netted four times in the 5-2 win earlier this season.
29'
M. Ginter gets yellow.
No complaints from Ginter who knows he's done wrong as he commits a very late foul in midfield, which sees him into the book. One yellow for each team in this first half now.
27'
HE CAN'T BUY A GOAL! It's not often you see Aubameyang miss two chances like that! Another clear opening for the striker, played through by Kagawa's delightful backheel, but Adler spreads himself and makes the save - with his face no less!
25'
VITAL COVER! Wood did everything right there, showing wonderful power and excellent skill on the ball to find his way beyond Bartra, who slips. He knocks the ball forward and continues his run, but Piszczek comes from the back shoulder and pokes the ball away with an expertly timed challenge!
23'
That's simply not going to cut it! Guerreiro gets on the end of a clever move and sends a dangerous cross in towards the near post, but Hamburg deal with it. The visitors have the opportunity to hit back in a flash, but a dreadful and terribly ambitious ball over the top does no favours to Wood, handing possession straight back to Dortmund.
21'
The match is being played at Dortmund's tempo here, with the hosts controlling possession and attacking at their own pace. Hamburg need to show a bit more desire to press off the ball and make life difficult on Tuchel's side in possession.
19'
STAT: Only Bayern (23) have collected more points than Dortmund and Hamburg in the second half of the season (17, the same as Hoffenheim).
17'
Hamburg have been a real threat on the break since Gisdol took over, but that hasn't been the case tonight. There have been plenty of opportunities for them to get forward quickly, but they have just managed the one chance thus far, otherwise lacking the quality to test this Dortmund defence.
15'
Chances continue to arrive at both ends! There's a splendid tempo to this match thus far and now Dortmund have the lead to show for it. These opening 15 minutes suggest we could be in for plenty of goals tonight.
13'
G. Castro has scored a goal for Borussia Dortmund!
DORTMUND SNATCH THE LEAD! Some really poor goalkeeping there from Adler, who starts one way as Castro delivers the free-kick, but winds up being unable to change direction, allowing the strike to run straight in! It wasn't special by any means, but it's found the back of the net!
12'
A. Ekdal gets yellow.
Ekdal blocks Kagawa from getting on the end of a clever one-two that would have seen the attacker through on goal. It's a yellow card for the centre-half and a great chance for Dortmund from the free-kick.
11'
BURKI TO THE RESCUE! Well Aubameyang had a great chance at one end, with Adler coming up big, and now Burki returns the favour! Hamburg are presented with their first chance as Wood goes through on goal from 30 yards. He breaks into the area but can't thread a shot through Burki as the chance is denied!
9'
STAT: This is the 100th top-flight clash between the sides. HSV have the upper hand (W36, D28, L35). The meetings have featured a total of 355 goals – more than any other Bundesliga fixture.
7'
It's one-way traffic in these early stages at the Signal-Iduna Park. Hamburg have improved a great deal defensively in recent weeks, but they're being carved apart here. Weigl runs into a nice pocket of space on the left, but just fails to pick out Aubameyang with his cross.
5'
EXCELLENT GOALKEEPING! Dortmund taking charge here and they threaten to open the scoring as Aubameyang is played through on the end of a tidy bit of interplay. He has only Adler to beat, but the keeper spreads himself wide and makes a terrific save to keep the game scoreless!
3'
Bright start from Dortmund as they dominate possession en route to negotiating the game's first opening. Mor gets on the end of the move and has a shooting chance, but can only find the side-netting from a difficult angle.
1'
AND THEY'RE OFF! In-form Hamburg get us underway, attacking right to left in their blue strip, with Dortmund in yellow tops and black shorts.
Hello and welcome to the Signal-Iduna Park for some midweek Bundesliga action, as Borussia Dortmund aim to get back into the top-three when they host a Hamburg side hoping to stave off relegation!
Dortmund were held to a draw in Saturday’s Ruhr derby in Gelsenkirchen, dropping to fourth place following Hoffenheim’s victory Friday night. The battle for top-three looks like it’s going to come down to the wire, but Dortmund’s incredibly tricky fixture list might put them behind the eight ball.
Thomas Tuchel’s side play eight times in the next 26 days. Falling in that time span are two trips to the Allianz Arena to take on Bayern, both Champions League quarter-final legs against Monaco, and dates with Gladbach, Eintracht and Cologne in the league.
Hamburg have very different concerns as they enter the final two months of the season. They are in the midst of a real relegation scrap at the moment. Bottom two in the Bundesliga look to be settled, but it’s anyone’s guess as to who finishes in the relegation play-off come season’s end.
Augsburg currently occupy third from the bottom with 29 points, but Mainz (29), Hamburg (30) and Wolfsburg (30) are directly above them – and to make matters worse for Hamburg, they have the worse goal differential of the lot, heading into tonight’s match against free-scoring Dortmund.
CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS:
SUBS: Weidenfeller, Park, Bender, Sahin, Pulisic, Merino, Passlack.
Thomas Tuchel makes three changes from the draw at the Veltins-Arena on Saturday. The coach continues to rotate the full-backs, with Emre Mor and Raphael Guerreiro coming into the side at the expense of Felix Passlack and Marcel Schmelzer, while Matthias Ginter comes into defence, replacing Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
Markus Gisdol makes four changes from Saturday's victory over Cologne. Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Nicolai Muller miss out through injury, with the latter expected to miss the remainder of the season after hurting himself on Saturday. Albin Ekdal and Michael Gregoritsch take their place. Matthias Ostrzolek and Gotoku Sakai also come into the side, replacing Douglas Santos and Gideon Jung.
Gonzalo Castro's free-kick, helped in by Rene Adler's mistake, has Dortmund ahead at the interval, at the end of a wonderfully entertaining first half at the Signal-Iduna Park. It maybe should be more of a lead for the hosts, with Aubameyang twice failing to score one-v-one with the keeper, but Hamburg have had their chances as well.
Goals from Gonzalo Castro, Shinji Kagawa and a late marker from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ensure three points for Dortmund ahead of their clash with Bayern on the weekend, as Hamburg suffer their first league defeat in five matches.
That's all for our live coverage, thanks for following along. Goodbye!
