That's it full time 0-0 here at Turf Moor! Both sides hit the woodwork in the closing stages but ultimately a draw is a fair reflection as neither team did quite enough to claim all three points.
90' +3
It is end-to-end stuff now. Wallaces manages to smuggle a cross into the box from the right but Sunderland clear. The ball comes back into towards Mannone, who rather unconvincingly punches the ball into the air but Wes Brown helps out his keeper and heads away.
90' +2
S. Reid enters the game and replaces G. Boyd.
90'
D. Marney gets yellow.
SHOT! Jordi Gomez takes the free kick short to van Aanholt who unleashes a thunderous drive from all of 30 yards which flies past a helpless Heaton and cracks the post. The ball then rebound off the goalkeeper but doesn't bounce into the net. How close can you get?!
88'
It would have been a fortunate way to take the lead but it would have been a pricless goal for Burnley. Dean Marney then goes into the referee's notebook after a pretty untidy tackle on Vergini. Can Sunderland make anything of this set piece?
86'
R. Wallace enters the game and replaces David Jones.
OFF THE BAR! Big deflection on Arfield's shot and his effort loops up and onto the Mannone's cross bar. So close to the opening goal. Agonising for Burnley.
84'
Vergini is played in well by Buckley but the Sunderland right back can't find a teammate with his cross. All a bit too slow and ponderous in possession for the visitors at present. Ross Wallace has come on to replace David Jones in the Burnley midfield.
81'
Since the Sunderland substitutions it has actually been the Clarets who have improved. Sean Dyche will feel that this game is there for the taking if they can put a move together of real quality. It has all got a bit disjointed for the Black Cats over the last ten minutes or so.
79'
O'Shea is not a popular man at Turf Moor at the moment. The experienced Irishman bundles Jutkiewicz over about 25 yards from goal. David Jones takes the resulting free-kick but his shot can't beat the Sunderland wall.
78'
J. O'Shea gets yellow.

Description
77'
John O'Shea is playing a very dangerous game at the moment. He is getting far too tight to the Burnley strikers. The veteran centre back was retrospectively booked for his tug on Jutkiewicz. For such an experienced player he is being rather rash. The last thing Gus Poyet needs is a red card during this pivotal point in the match. The result could go either way. A moment of madness or inspiration looks the most likely means of separating the sides.
76'
Mee is fine to continue. The match is starting to get stretched. Can anyone find an elusive goal? Jutkiewicz breaks clear of O'Shea who then pulls back the Burnley striker, who still manages to get a shot on target but it is at a good height for Mannone to parry away.
74'
Clash of heads here as Altidore clashes with Mee. The big American centre forward has certainly been putting himself about since coming on. The last five minutes or so have been a bit disjointed which may help Burnley as it has disrupted Sunderland's rhythm.
73'
W. Buckley enters the game and replaces E. Giaccherini.
72'
Burnley have only scored one goal so far this season and on the evidence of today it is easy to see why. It's certainly not for the lack of trying but they look short of ideas when going forward. They are struggling to get in behind Sunderland's deep defensive line.
71'
Another change for Sunderland as Buckley comes on in place of Giaccherini who was on the receiving end of a strong challenge by Jutkiewicz a few moments ago and has been unable to run off the knock. Poyet will be looking for his side to go a bit more direct with the physical presence of Wickham and Altidore up front.
69'
There was some good movement and link up between Arfield and Jutkiewicz to create space on the left wing a few moments ago. It's something that hasn't been seen enough this afternoon. Both sides have been too static in possession and need to give the man on the ball more options. Player's seem too reluctant to make a run or risk losing the ball with a forward pass.
67'
Jordi Gómez enters the game and replaces S. Larsson.
J. Altidore enters the game and replaces A. Johnson.
SAVE! Arfield is played in down the left hand channel by Jutkiewicz and the midfielders cross come shot needs to be turned away at the near post by Vito Mannone. Finally some signs of life from the home side as we head into the final quarter of the game.
65'
The crossing from both teams has left a lot to be desired this afternoon. Changes are afoot for Sunderland as Jordi Gomez readies himself to come on. Trippier meanwhile takes on his man and sends a low ball into the area but not for the first time it doesn't beat the first man.
63'
A. Barnes enters the game and replaces M. Sordell.
Good hold up play there from Wickham who receives the ball on the edge of the area from Larsson. The striker manages to work half a yard for a shot but can only drag his effort wide.
62'
J. Rodwell gets yellow.
61'
Ashley Barnes is stripped off and ready to enter the fray. Will it be a straight swap or a change in shape for Burnley? Rodwell receives the first yellow card of the game as he hacks down George Boyd. Very easy decision for the referee there.
58'
Burnley have hardly had a kick since the second half started. It's important for Sean Dyche's men to reassert themselves and not drop too deep which will invite pressure. Crucial for the home side not to concede during this period. Sunderland on the other hand are building up a head of steam.
55'
CLOSE! The visitors almost take the lead on the break. Johnson releases Giaccherini down the left and the winger fires the ball across the six yard area before it is scrambled away by Jason Shackell. Larsson looked set for a tap in at the far post there.
53'
SHOT! Rodwell stings the palms of Tom Heaton with a decent drive from the edge of the area. The Black Cats midfielder is wonderfully two-footed and on this occasion he works the ball from his right onto his left before shooting. Sunderland's good start to the second half continues.
51'
Johnson pops up on the right wing and drives into the Burnley penalty area with a typically jinking run. The winger goes down as he shoots but there is no suggestion of a penalty apeal from Sunderland. That run from the winger was reminiscent of the dribble that lead to his goal last weekend against Spurs.
48'
Giaccherini and Johnson have reverted to their natural flanks at the start of this second half with the Italian on the right and Johnson on the left. Sunderland are looking a bit more composed on the ball at the start of this half. Passing the ball with a bit more intent rathering than keeping possession just for the sake of it.
46'
Sunderland get us restarted, they'll be attacking the end of the ground where their supporters are gathered in the second half.
45' +1
There's the half time whistle 0-0! Dyche and Poyet will have plenty to think about during the interval and it wouldn't be a surprise to see some of the substitutes introduced in the early part of the second half.
44'
Just one minute of time to be added on at the end of the first half here at Turf Moor. Burnley will feel that they can create further opportunities in the second half if their decision making in the final third improves. Sunderland on the otherhand need to have possession in better areas if they want to make the breakthrough.
40'
As half time approaches both managers will be pleased and disappointed in equal measure. Both teams have decent spells in the match without either goalkeeper being seriously tested. Defences have been on top for the most part this afternoon.
37'
Almost a horrific moment for Wes Brown who massively underhits a back pass to Mannone. Fortunately for Sunderland their goalkeeper was alive to the situation and raced off his line to smash the ball out of harm's way.
35'
CHANCE! Rodwell sets up at counter attack by bursting forward from midfield. The former Man City midfielder plays a crisp pass into the feet of Connor Wickham who takes one touch before firing the ball straight down the throat of Heaton. A wasted opportunity there for the visitors.
32'
Sean Dyche will be slightly concerned that Sunderland's more creative players are beginning to find more time and space in the middle of the park over the last few minutes. Rodwell and Cattermole are dominating the midfield areas and spray the ball around.
28'
The Sunderland supporters are rather ironically cheering their teams string of passes at the moment. Vergini eventually gets his head to Larsson's low cross but the defender's effort flashes wide of the post. Gus Poyet's side are just starting to find their feet in this match.
24'
Another shot from Jutkiewicz but the Burnley striker only finds Row Z! The centre forward is almost trying too hard at the moment to get off the mark.
22'
CHANCE! Larsson's dangerous cross is headed back across goal by Wickham into the path of Jack Rodwell who nods towards goal but his header harmlessly loops into the arms of Heaton. Better from Sunderland.
19'
SAVE! Great football from Burnley. Scott Arfield played the ball into George Boyd who has his back to goal just inside the Sunderland area. Boyd holds the ball up well before laying it off to Jones who fires a low shot in on goal but it was straight at Vito Mannone. Jones perhaps will feel that he should've done better there. Excellent approach work to create the chance though.
17'
Ben Mee fouls Sebastian Larsson out on Sunderland's right wing. Johnson whips the ball in but Wes Brown is penalised for a push in the box and Burnley can start again with a free-kick that goalkeeper Tom Heaton will take.
14'
Johnson tries to play in Connor Wickham over the top but Sunderland's lone striker fouls Michael Duff. Wickham has not been involved at all so far. Gus Poyet will want to see a bit more from his big no.10.
12'
Adam Johnson and Emmanuele Giaccherini have switched wings as the away side try to get a foothold in this match. All credit to Burnley they have simply not allowed Sunderland to settle into any sort of rhythm in these early exchanges.
9'
Sunderland enjoy their first spell of possession but it doesn't last long as Jones wins the ball back. The Burnley midfielder feeds Jutkiewicz but the striker's shot is deflected and doesn't trouble Mannone.
7'
John O'Shea gives away a cheap free-kick by pulling back Jutkiewicz. David Jones will swing this into the box with his left foot. It's a decent delivery but Patrick van Aanholt heads away the danger.
4'
There is a great atmosphere inside the stadium and Marvin Sordell really should've opened the scoring for Burnley. Lukas Jutkiewicz raced down the left-hand channel and cut the ball back to his striker partner Sordell who completely missed his kick when he should really have given his side the lead. Let off for the Black Cats.
2'
Promising start from Burnley with George Boyd forcing an early corner for the home side. It comes to nothing as Sunderland clear their lines. Trippier regains possession and tests Mannone from 25 yards out but it is easy for the Sunderland keeper to deal with.

We are underway at Turf Moor! Both teams wearing their traditional colours.
Welcome along to Turf Moor for this Premier League clash between Burnley and Sunderland. Both sides are looking for their first league win of the season. Even though it is early on in the campaign this already looks like a bit of a six-pointer.
Burnley are without the influential Danny Ings and he is replaced by Marvin Sordell in Sean Dyche's starting lineup. The Clarets have been desperately short of goals so far this season with just one goal in their four games so far. Lukas Jutkiewicz and Marvin Sordell will be desperate to get off the mark in front of their home fans this afternoon.
Sunderland come into this match after snatching an unlikely point last time out at home against Tottenham Hotspur. Emmanuele Giaccherini comes into the starting lineup and he will be looking to make an impact this afternoon.
There has been plenty of effort and endeavour during the first 45 minutes but quality has been lacking in attack. Sunderland have some good options on the bench in the form of Jozy Altidore, Will Buckley, Jordi Gomez and Danny Graham who are all waiting in the wings. Michael Kightly, Ross Wallace and Ashley Barnes could certainly make an impact from the Burnley bench as well.
There has been a slight sense of both teams not wanting to lose this match rather than going all out to win, which is perfectly understandable as a defeat today would be a massive blow. Burnley seemed to be set up well to counter attack but Sunderland haven't given them any space to exploit in behind.
Dyche and Poyet will be reasonably satisified with a point in the end as both teams defended pretty well over the 90 minutes. What will be a concern is the lack of invention and cutting edge in attacking areas. Neither side look like scoring a lot of goals this season and that could develop into a problem in the coming months.
Adam Johnson looked less than impressed when substituted and his withdrawal to a lot of impetus out of the Sunderland attack. Jozy Altidore continues to not be a goal threat which makes the exclusion of Steven Fletcher from the squad look even more strange. Connor Wickham could definitely do with more support upfront.
The sooner Danny Ings returns the better for Sean Dyche as serious question marks remain over whether Jutkiewicz, Sordell and Barnes can cut it at Premier League level. The Burnley manager will be happy with the commitment and organisation his team showed but they need to win games at home against teams like Sunderland if they are to survive.
That's all from me folks! I'm Chris Baker and thanks very much for joining me this afternoon. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
