Charlton still pressing here, credit to them for continuing to press and work hard but they still can't find a break through. They do have a corner but United get it away.
90' +1
SUBSTITUTION: United's final swap sees Flynn leave the field to be replaced by McGinn. The fourth official indicates that there will be four minutes of added time.
90'
S. McGinn enters the game and replaces R. Flynn.
89'
Maguire will just punt a long ball toward the Charlton area, it's headed away and the Blades have a throw in. Chris Powell looking at his watch, I'm sure he just wants it to end.
87'
SUBSTITUTION: Another change for the home side sees Porter replace Scougall. Just five minutes remaining before the party starts for the Blades. What a great day to celebrate.
86'
C. Porter enters the game and replaces S. Scougall.
85'
FACT: Sheffield United have knocked out three teams in higher divisions than them on their way to the last eight. Make that four.
83'
If this match is going to see another goal before the final whistle you would have to say United look the more likely. Charlton, are looking aimless out there now and just want the final whistle to come.
81'
B. Davies enters the game and replaces J. Baxter.
Harriot is fouled on the the left hand side of the area and Charlton have a free kick. Jackson delivers but Howard punches it away and United survive. If they could score now it would set up a tense finish.
80'
J. Baxter gets yellow.
Minute
Description
79'
Late challenge on Green by Baxter and he'll receive a yellow card for his troubles. He won the ball but caught the Charlton defender and it's a free kick for the Addicks.
77'
DISALLOWED GOAL! For the second time today Coady has a goal ruled out for offside. Baxter slips in the box just before he can get a shot away, it falls to Scougall whose effort bounces of the post for Coady to score. But it won't count, close call though.
75'
FACT: These two have met three times before in the FA Cup, with the Blades winning all of them including one through a repla. After today you'd be surprised if Charlton still haven't beaten the Blades in the cup.
74'
Baxter has really changed the game, he has dropped into his favoured no 10 position and started dictating play. He almost caps his display with a goal but his effort is blocked by Wood from 12 yards out. Long way back for Charlton. Corner for United.
72'
So how costly was that miss by Harriot? Very is the answer. Charltn were on the front foot but have bene undone by two clinical strikes by the Flynn and Brayford.
71'
C. Harriott gets yellow.
Daniel Green I enters the game and replaces D. Poyet.
70'
R. Ghoochannejhad enters the game and replaces L. Wilson.
United's cup run continues and so does their winning run. Never in the clubs' history have they won nine consecutive matches, you'd be a brave man to bet against them breaking that record today.
67'
J. Brayford has scored a goal for Sheffield United! Assist by J. Murphy.
GOAL! Cue histeria at Bramall lane! It looks like they'll be going to Wembley. Murphy runs at the Charlton defence, he skips inside and lays it off to Brayford, his shot from 20 yards is deflected off Wood to wrong foot Hamer. What a crazy couple of minutes.
65'
R. Flynn has scored a goal for Sheffield United! Assist by J. Baxter.
A. Ajdarević enters the game and replaces S. Church.
GOAL! Would you believe it, the Blades lead! Stunning cross into the box by Baxter toward the back post, Flynn is there to meet it and brilliantly hooks it over Hamer to give his side the lead. Game on!
64'
SUBSTITUTION: Charlton make the first change of the day as Ajdarevic replaces Church. Tudgay will move further forward for the Addicks.
63'
Harriot feeds Tudgay in the middle, he has space to run in to and drives toward the Blades back four but his effort from 25 yards is just wide. Charlton are growing with confidence and look the better of the two sides this half.
62'
United have another free kick, Baxter takes it but again it's a poor delivery and easy for Charlton to defend against. You feel a goal would really open up this tie.
60'
WHAT A MISS! Best chance of the game by miles. Quick free kick by Jackson into the box, Tudgay gets to it and flicks it over Howard to Harriot from six yards out but he drags his shot wide. Draedful miss. How costly might that be?
58'
Charlton need to do something, they're build up play has been too slow and it's not causing the United back four any problems.
56'
Both managers are looking at their bench to see if they can mix things up, can a sub come on a be an FA cp her today? Poyet plays another long ball toward Church but Maguire easily reads it and passes it out from the back.
54'
United just passing it around at the back, trying to create something. Baxter does well, he drives into the middle and backheels the ball to Murphy but it doesn't quite come off and Charlton break. Very bogged down in midfield.
52'
Even opening minutes since the interval but we're just waiting for either side to really take the game by the scruff of the neck. Coady gets to the byline and wins a corner. The game needs a goal. Maguire does a lovely drag back in the area but his shot is just wide, close.
50'
Some first half stats for you. Charlton had more posession with 55 per cent to United's 45. But the Blades had more attempts on goal with six compared to the Addicks mere three.
48'
No changes for either side at the break as the managers keep faith in the players that began the match. Scougall gets a bit of space in the middle of the park and decides to take a shot but it's well over and Charlton have a goal kick.
46'
And we're off, Charlton kick off.
45' +2
Charlton have a corner after good play by Church, Harriot whips in a cross but it's deflected. The ball is whipped in by Johnson but Collins wins the header and United get it clear.
45' +1
Tudgay picks it up on the right and tries to beat his man but Wilson easily dispossess him and Charlton have a throw. Murphy counters down the left and cuts it back to Harris on the edge of the area but he curls it just wide. Good play, probably the closest either side have come to scoring.
44'
Neither side has been able to create anything of note this half but both managers will be happy that their side isn't behind at the break.
42'
Better play by United. Baxter feeds Brayford down the right who puts in a dangerous cross into the six yard box but Hamer dives and holds onto the ball well. Good save.
40'
DISALLOWED GOAL! Baxter's free kick is poor but it falls to Coady who smashes the ball into the back of the net, but it won't count as the midfielder is correctly flagged for offside.
39'
J. Jackson gets yellow.
Clough won't be pleased with Baxter's performance so far. The boy, previously known as the next Wayne Rooney, has been playing far to deep and isn't helping United stretch the Addicks defence. Jackson goes into the book for a late challenge on Flynn. No arguments there.
38'
A stop in play here as Church receives treatment for a knock on the ankle. The forward stays down for a while, but he looks to ok to continue. He's probably been Charlton's brightest player so far.
35'
Murphy has been the best player on the pitch so far and the Blades look to be playing through him which seems a sensible game plan. He skips past Wilson again but his cross isn't great and Hamer collects.
33'
Jackson whips it in but it's too near Howard and he punches it away to Murphy who tries to counter but he's taken out by Brayfor on the left hand side. Another free kick, but it's a poor delivery and Charlton survive.
31'
Church ran at the Blades' back four but gets tripped by Doyle and the Addicks have another free kick in a dangerous position. Jackson to take it.
29'
I think Nigel Clough will be happy with his sides efforts so far, they look more determined to win. Good effort by Church again, he takes a snap shot on the edge of the box but Howard gets down well and parries it away.
27'
CLOSE! Murphy receives the ball on the edge of the area and takes a swipe, it's not bad but runs about a yard wide and Charlton have a goal kick. Both teams need to make more movement off the ball, it's very rigid so far.
25'
You can see why United have only conceded one goal in their last eight matches, they look very solid and disciplined. But they need to find a way to get Murphy and Baxter into this game, the front players look a little isolated at the moment.
23'
It's a real battle for possession at the moment, particularly in midfield. Poyet does seem to have a little more time on the ball than other players and Church looks very lively but still neither side has fashioned a meaningful goalscoring opportunity.
21'
Nice play by Church and Tudgay. The Welshman plays a one two with the Englishmen but his shot is deflected and Howard easily catches. Charlton definitely on the up here as Jackson goes close with a shot from 20 yards.
19'
Very even so far, neither side has stamped their authority on the match so far. Charlton are gradually growing in confidence and look the most likely to score at the moment.
17'
FACT: All three of Charlton's FA Cup victories this season have come away from home. Can they make it four today? Well they have a corner, Jackson to whip it in. It's a good delivery but it misses everyone, someone should have got a touch on that.
15'
Flynn goes into the book as he cynically tries to break up a Charlton attack. Wiggins takes the free kick but the blades look to break with Maguire playing it wide to Murphy but the winger overruns the ball and Charlton have a throw.
14'
R. Flynn gets yellow.
13'
Neither manager would want a replay. If it does happen, they'll have to play Saturday, Monday and Wednesday next week. Yikes. Poyet looks very good so far, he is dictating play for the Addicks and looking to create something.
11'
Bit of a stop start game so far, neither side have really got going or created anything. But Maguire skips past a few players in the middle, he feeds Murphy who gets to to byline but his cross is intercepted and Charlton have a goal kick.
9'
Goal kick to the Blades, it finds Baxter on the right hand side who puts in an early cross which is deflected out for a corner. Baxter takes it and Collins meets it but he heads it over the bar.
7'
Charlton are looking to get the ball down while United are playing it long at the moment. Both really going for it. Nice ball by Poyet to Church, the Welsh international, but it's just ahead of him and Howard claims the ball.
5'
Great atmosphere, lovely spring weather, this should be a great match. Wood looks long to Poyet on the right but it's slightly over hit and United have a throw. They take it quick and try to set Tudgay free but it runs all the way through to Hamer.
3'
Good start by United. Wood fouls Baxter on the right hand side and they have a free kick in a good position on the right hand side. Baxter takes it but doesn't clear the wall and Charlton get it clear.
2'
United manager Nigel Clough has made seven changes to his starting XI after Tuesday's 2-0 win over Peterborough United in League One. John Brayford returns for the Blades, while Ryan Flynn and Stefan Scougall are are among those recalled.
1'
And we're off, and it's United who get us underway.
Hello and welcome to this afternoon's LIVE play-by-play commentary of the FA Cup quarter final clash between Sheffield United and Charlton Athletic here at Bramall Lane. My name is Greg Taylor and I'll be guiding you through all the action.
What a glorious day. The sun is shining, the grass is glistening, it's the perfect conditions for a good old cup tie. We've got two teams who are just one win away from the semi-finals and a trip to Wembley Stadium. No pressure then.
Before we go any further, let's have a look at how both sides are lining up, starting with the home side.
Charlton head north to Sheffield for the second time in succession after they knocked out United’s rivals Wednesday in the last round, with realistic hopes of securing their first semi-final appearance since 1947.
United themselves had been in danger of relegation from League One for mos of the season but a recent run of six-straight wins without conceding and eight wins in all competitons propelled them into the top half. The Blades have gone on a fairytale cup run so far, beating Premier League teams Aston Villa and Fulham as well as Championship side Nottingham Forest.
Chris Powell will hope to boost his side's morale with another cup win and to take the attention away from their precarious position in the Championship, which sees them currently rock bottom in the table.
I wonder how the players are feeling? The chance to play in an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley doesn't come around too often, and for these sides' players, may never come again. I'm sure both managers have said that it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, but who is going to keep their cool and end victorious?
Despite Charlton being the Championship side, you would have to say United are favourites. They're at home and on a brilliant run of form, whereas Charlton are on the exact opposite. RECENT FORM: UNITED: WWWWWW CHARLTON: LLLWLL
The players are out on the pitch, we'll be underway shortly.
HALFTIME: Brilliant atmosphere, brilliant conditions but the game hasn't lived up to expectations yet. Both sides are working hard but they haven't shown the quality in the final third. Plenty to ponder for both managers.
The players are back out on the on pitch and we'll be underway shortly.
That's it from me, Greg Taylor, have a wonderful Sunday afternoon in the sun, thanks for joining us.
FULL TIME: It's Sheffield United who will be going to Wembley and into the semi finals. What a fairytale for Nigel Clough, can he win the FA Cup, something his father never did? Ryan Flynn got the first and John Brayford's deflected effort sealed the win.
Charlton players will be gutted to not be in the semi finals, and they now have a real relegation scrap on their hands. Chris Powell will look to Harriot's miss just before United's first goal as a turning point, but in truth Charlton were second best throughout. United have won nine in a row, can they make it ten?
