GOOD EFFORT! Thiago bends a brilliant shot from 25 yards towards the top corner but it lacks the required dip to get under the crossbar, instead settling on the roof of the net.
The final whistle goes!
90'
There will be two minutes of stoppage time played here.
89'
Bayern just slowing the tempo of the game down now. Dante passes back to Neuer and the keeper takes his time before releasing the ball to a team-mate. The ball is eventually worked forward and Shaqiri slots the ball into the back of the net, but it is ruled out as he did so from an offside position.
87'
That was a vital block from Angha! The young defender got an important touch to Alaba's cross as Gotze looked to add the finishing touch from the top of the box.
86'
C. Pizarro enters the game and replaces M. Mandžukić.
85'
Nurnberg attempt to break after Mandzukic has a cross cleared out of the area. Gebhart stumbles as he carries the ball forward and is forced to check back inside. He attempts a pass up to Pekhart which is nowhere near the striker, but it doesn't even matter as the former Tottenham Hotspur man was offside yet again.
83'
JUST WIDE! Thiago has had a little strand of hair hanging across his forehead throughout this afternoon, much like Superman from back in the day. He has certainly warranted such a doppelganger for his performance today, and he nearly caps it with a goal but his strike is dragged just the wrong side of the post from 20 yards out.
81'
X. Shaqiri enters the game and replaces A. Robben.
Nurnberg have offered very little in terms of attacking intent since Ginczek left the pitch. Pekhart has contributed a minimal amount during a much longer period on the pitch, and Verbeek will not be best pleased about that.
79'
There is to be no rest for the Nurnberg defence in the closing stages. Guardiola has Shaqiri ready to enter the fray and the Swiss is always keen to prove he should be playing an integral role in this side, particularly with Ribery currently out injured.
77'
Gotze makes a brilliant run through the heart of the defence and prods the ball away from the onrushing Schafer. However, he puts too much on it and has to watch it roll behind for a goal kick.
Minute
Description
76'
T. Gebhart enters the game and replaces A. Hloušek.
Bayern's possession is being greeted by whistles and jeers from across the stadium. It is unsurprising. Guardiola's men have looked dominant in practically every game they have played this season and they are just under 15 minutes away from restoring a 13-point lead at the Bundesliga summit. Can anyone give them a real test in this league?
74'
GREAT CHANCE! Bayern counter after Dante thwarts Drmic on the near side and play is switched to Robben out on the left. He races down to the byeline, drawing Schafer out of his net before poking a cutback into the centre. Mandzukic moves towards it but Pinola gets there first and again comes away with the ball. The Argentine has impressed in the centre of defence.
72'
Javi Martínez enters the game and replaces T. Müller.
Martinez is back to make his first Bundesliga appearance of 2014, replacing the rather disappointing Muller for the closing stages.
70'
SO CLOSE!! Alaba arrows a searing effort towards goal and it whistles around the outside of Schafer's goal. Fantastic technique from the left-back in striking that.
69'
Brilliant from Thiago, showing a quick turn of pace to move away from Feulner and win his side a free kick, 30 yards from Schafer's goal. Alaba looks to be shpaing this one up.
67'
Neuer is taking a risk there, racing off his line to beat Pekhart to a ball over the top. He manages to do so, but his touch takes him dangerously close to another Nurnberg short. He is forced to slide in to get to it first and just about clears away the danger.
65'
T. Müller gets yellow.
Muller is the next man into the book as he is caught out by Plattenhardt on the far side and tugs on the shirt of the defender as he looks to race away with the ball.
64'
M. Mandžukić gets yellow.
63'
Mandzukic again puts his body about, this time backing into Petrak and catching the defender with an elbow. The referee gives him a talking to before brandishing his yellow card to the striker. He has been exceptionally physical this afternoon, but most of the time it has been in a positive way.
61'
Bayern are putting their opposition under increasing pressure now, minimising that threat they posed on the counterattack in the first half. Gotze and Mandzukic combine well on the left but Pinola manages to get his head to the ball following the former's poor first touch inside the box.
59'
Bayern win a corner down on the near side, just outside the box, as Gotze is manhandled by Petrak. He and Robben decide to take it short to create a better angle for the cross but Nurnberg still manage to cope with the delivery comfortably.
57'
Should Bayern maintain this result to the final whistle it would be their 12th-consecutive Bundesliga win. Is anyone going to be able to best Guardiola's side this season? An unbeaten season is increasingly looking like a serious possibility.
55'
OFF THE POST! Lahm dinks a lovely ball over the top for Robben and the Dutchman steers it towards the near post on the volley. Schafer, anticipating a cross, steps off his line and is forced to make a dramatic dive back to cover his post. Fortunately for him, the effort strikes the woodwork and goes behind for a corner off the keeper's back.
53'
WASTED! Muller receives the ball inside the box in acres of space and he attempts to control it to set up the shot, but his first touch is poor and Pinola closes in to make an important block.
52'
WHAT A CHANCE! Alaba sends in a low cross from the left which rolls through the gap between the defence and the goalkeeper. Mandzukic fails to get to it and Schafer spills it, but Robben is not quick enough to pounce on the loose ball inside the box.
51'
STAT: Bayern have now scored at least two goals in each of their last 12 Bundesliga outings. That is rather prolific.
50'
J. Pinola gets yellow.
Pinola picks up a booking as he flings an arm out at Mandzukic while the striker chases him down to try and win the ball. The referee awards the hosts the free kick, but the defender sees yellow for what happened in the aftermath.
49'
P. Lahm has scored a goal for Bayern Munich! Assist by M. Mandžukić.
GOOOOOOOAL!! LAHM MAKES IT TWO! An incisive move that came from absolutely nowhere sees Mandzukic latch onto a ball in behind the defence and square for Lahm, who sweeps home the finish under pressure from Pinola.
48'
Two second-half minutes played, and two offside decisions have already gone against Pekhart. The striker has to watch the line more closely if he wants to cause this experienced Bayern defence any form of problems.
46'
Nurnberg get the second half underway.
45' +2
The referee blows his whistle for half time.
45' +1
A. Hloušek gets yellow.
We are into the first of an additional two minutes.
45'
Masterful from Thiago as he wriggles away from three players inside his own half and bears down on the Nurnberg half. Frantz won't let him get there though as he slides in and fells the midfielder.
43'
P. Lahm gets yellow.
Gotze attempts to play an intricate one-two with Robben to find a route into the area but the space is too close and Nurnberg intercept. Kiyotake looks to break through the centre of the park so Lahm chases back and brings the Japan international to ground with an illegal challenge inside the centre circle. The captain earns a booking for that.
41'
Robben moves out to the right and attempts to dance his way into the area, feigning to cut inside before driving towards the byeline. Eventually he tries too much and falls over the ball and Nurnberg can clear.
39'
Mandzukic moves out to the left and tries to dribble his way around Petrak. He knocks the ball past the defender but pushes him to ground in his attempts to retrieve it and concedes a foul.
37'
Thiago has been brilliant again today. The Spaniard is completely dictating the game in the centre of the park, knocking about a variety of sublime passes and keeping the wide men and Mandzukic well fed. What a player Barcelona have let go.
35'
ANGHA SMASHES IT WIDE! The Swiss gets up for the resultant free kick and the ball falls to him on the edge of the box. He strikes it on the bounce, with plenty of power and keeping it low, but pulls it wide of the near post.
34'
A dangerous from Boateng sees the hosts awarded a free kick. The centre-back may have taken the ball but he completely cleaned out Hlousek on the near side.
33'
Schafer is forced into another save as Mandzukic gets onto the end of Rafinha's cross, but his diving header is straight into the keeper's arms.
32'
BAYERN HIT THE WOODWORK TWICE!! Robben's left-footed free kick is hit sweetly towards the far corner and looks destined for the net. The Dutchman wheels away in celebration but the effort comes back off the inside of the post. Muller is first to the rebound but his attempt to nod it in comes back off the bar. I cannot believe that has stayed out.
30'
The referee penalises Pinola for an overzealous challenge on Mandzukic just outside the area as the pair both went for a long ball clipped forwards by Thiago. A great chance for the visitors from here. Robben and Thiago stand over it...
29'
JUST OVER!! Kiyotake is the dangerman for Nurnberg again as he lashes a shot on goal following Dante's poor clearance. He strikes it superbly, but it is always rising and it shades the top of the crossbar. Neuer looked confident it would not hit the target, mind.
28'
Fantastic technique from Gotze, but it goes just over the top. Thiago's free kick was headed out from the area but Gotze chased out and with his back to goal, bent a brilliant volley back towards the far corner. That would have been a beauty, but it missed Schafer's goal.
26'
More impressive defending from Pinola there as a loose ball falls to Robben at the back post following a good spell of pressure, but the Argentine races over and forces him to rush into a decision. The Dutchman ends up stabbing the ball into the defender to win a corner kick.
24'
That is a good claim from Schafer as he is not put off by the presence of Dante, rising up to claim Thiago's cross from the far side. Nurnberg cannot allow the visitors to develop momentum here and need to keep hassling them.
22'
T. Pekhart enters the game and replaces D. Ginczek.
Bayern are playing some much better football now as they have grown in confidence following that goal. Robben drifts in with the ball from the left and plays a neat give-and-go with Gotze. The Dutchman then moves possession on to Rafinha and the Brazilian attempts to pick out Mandzukic in the box, but Angha heads behind for a corner.
20'
More bad news for Nurnberg here as Ginczek is struggling with a knock picked up following a coming together with Boateng. Verbeek will now be forced into his second change of the match already! After a very bright start, things seem to be becoming increasinly difficult for the hosts.
18'
M. Mandžukić has scored a goal for Bayern Munich! Assist by D. Alaba.
GOOOOOOAL!! BAYERN LEAD! Somewhat against the run of play, but the clinical finishing of die Roten sees them go ahead. Alaba showed tremendous determination to race forward, receiving a pass from Gotze as he overlapped the midfielder. His pinpoint cross found Mandzukic and the striker held of the challenge of Plattenhardt to volley into the back of the net.
17'
GOOD SAVE!! Ginczek again gets down that channel on the far side, outrunning Dante and taking the ball inside the box. Neuer does brilliantly to come off his line and smother the shot, while Kiyotake's follow-up is blocked in front of an open goal by Boateng.
16'
Play is very congested in the centre of the park, with Nurnberg refusing to allow their visitors time and space on the ball. Thiago concedes possession on the half-way line but the hosts are unable to make it count.
14'
Over the top! Bayern win a throw on the right which is sent short to Muller. He hooks a cross to the back post for Mandzukic but the striker leans too far back and hits the ball harmlessly off target.
12'
That is a great counterattack from the hosts! After winning the ball in midfield, play was spread out to Hlousek on the left as he raced forward on the wing. He got to the byeline and swung a cross into the middle which Feulner connected with via a diving header, however he failed to steer the attempt on target.
11'
WHAT A CHANCE! Angha almost instantly gets caught out as he leaves too much space between himself and the nearest centre-back, and Robben bursts into it to receive the ball. His first touch is not the best, though, and he ends up having to loop an effort at goal which drops well wide and behind of the net.
10'
M. Angha enters the game and replaces T. Chandler.
So it is Angha who enters the fray here. The young Swiss has only featured once previously this season, when he replaced Kiyotake in the 89th minute against Borussia Dortmund. Not much experience then!
9'
Chandler is down and receiving treatment on the far side as he overstretched to get a foot to the ball moments ago. It looks as though he is going to be replaced by Angha.
8'
Bayern are being put under pressure early on here and Guardiola is particularly animated on the touchline. Die Roten concede possession on the left, inside their own half, and Nurnberg instantly break to earn themselves a corner.
6'
Neuer receives possession and holds onto it as he awaits to be closed down, seemingly hoping to suck some of the momentum out of the positive Nurnberg start. Once he is eventually chased he sends a poor kick up field which hands possession straight back to der Club.
5'
Down at the other end now and Mandzukic gets his head to a cross from the left by Robben. He climbs all over the back of Pinola in his attempt to meet it though, and the referee awards the home side a free kick.
4'
OFF THE BAR!! An absolutely immense effort from Kiyotake as he leaps into the air and produces an acrobatic scissor kick from Feulner's cross. It gets the better of Neuer but hits the crossbar and goes behind. Had that gone in, it would have been a contender for goal of the season.
2'
Thiago rolls a lovely pass out to Mandzukic on the right and the Croatian looks to force his way past Pinola. The defender stays strong and puts pressure on the striker, forcing him to ground without conceding a foul.
GINCZEK!! Nurnberg get the first chance of the game and Neuer unorthodoxly parries it aside after Ginczek had been played through down the far channel and released an effort to the near post. The hosts certainly don't look scared to get numbers forward.
1'
We are underway! Bayern get the ball rolling.
Hello and welcome to today's LIVE text commentary on the Bundesliga meeting between Bavarian rivals Nurnberg and Bayern Munich. Following Bayer Leverkusen's 1-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach last night, Pep Guardiola's team know nothing less than victory will do at the Grundig Stadion if they are to restore their 13-point advantage at the top of the league.
Nurnberg have drawn an astounding 11 of their 19 league fixtures so far this season. A statistic which means that they currently occupy 15th in the table, despite having tasted defeat the fewest number of times of any club outside of the top four. Die Roten, meanwhile, are currently on a 44-game undefeated streak in the league.
However, der Club are undefeated in their last five Bundesliga fixtures, a run which includes the only two victories they have managed to secure this season. An unenviable task faces the hosts this afternoon then, so let's see who has been selected to battle this one out.
With Franck Ribery sidelined following surgery, Arjen Robben returns to the starting line-up. The Dutchman came on from the bench in the 5-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt, netting a goal as well as earning an assist. The only other change from that match sees Thomas Muller replace Xherdan Shaqiri on the right. Toni Kroos is once again on the bench.
Gertjan Verbeek keeps the same starting XI from last weekend's 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin as he looks to maintain momentum against the reigning champions. But it has been almost a decade since Nurnberg last defeated a league leader. In November 2004 they were victorious against then-first placed Wolfsburg.
Furthermore, Nurnberg have not beaten Bayern for over seven years. Their last victory was a 3-0 win in the Bundesliga in February 2007. Following that, der Club have failed to win in 12 Bavarian derbies in all competitions.
Philipp Lahm and Claudio Pizarro featured in that defeat and are both among the squad today. Bastian Schweinsteiger and Daniel van Buyten also played a part but neither make the cut today, with the former sidelined due to injury.
Just five minutes to go until kick off now. Will the unstoppable force that is Bayern Munich sail to victory, or will their local rivals be able to spring a surprise and earn a result this afternoon?
The teams are making their way out onto the pitch now so kick off will be upon us imminently. An impressive atmosphere inside the Grundig Stadion this afternoon.
HALF TIME - Nurnberg 0-1 Bayern: The hosts started brightly but after spurning a couple of good chances, including one which saw Kiyotake rattle the bar, Mandzukic put them to the sword with a brilliant volley. Either Robben or Muller could have added to the visitors' tally as they both hit the woodwork in close succession, but there remains one goal in it at the break.
Nurnberg were also forced into two early changes with Chandler and Ginczek both forced off due to injury. It is difficult to see a way back for them now, but stranger things have happened. Be sure to join me in 15 minutes for the second half.
Welcome back! The second half is just a few moments away now. Will Bayern run away with this or can Nurnberg rediscover the tempo that made them so dangerous in the opening stages of the game? We are about to find out.
The Bayern players are greeted by a number of whistles as they re-enter the pitch. Kick off just seconds away.
FULL TIME - Nurnberg 0-2 Bayern: Guardiola's side used all their experience to ride the storm of an impressive start from the hosts, eventually securing the win through goals from Mandzukic and Lahm. Die Roten were in complete control in that second half and never looked like losing their 13-point lead at the top of the league.
So that makes it 45 Bundesliga games without defeat for Bayern Munich. A truly unbelievable stat for this equally impressive outfit. That is it from me, Tom Webber, for this afternoon. Thanks for joining me.
