United miss again! This time Jones blazes over the crossbar!
120' +7
The South Korean scores to give Sunderland the lead!

120' +4
Darren Fletcher now... He scores! We have our first conversion!
120' +3
FULL-TIME! There goes the full-time whistle. United win 2-1 on the night, but this is still not over. With the score level at 3-3 on aggregate, penalties await!
Here comes Steven Fletcher... De Gea saves down to his right!
120' +2
Welbeck misses as well!
120' +1
J. Hernández has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by A. Januzaj.
GOAL!!! UNITED SCORE! Excellent play by Januzaj as he plays a one-two with Smalling before playing a teasing ball into the six-yard box for Hernandez to tap in. What a dramatic end!
Gardner fires over the crossbar! Advantage Man United!
119'
P. Bardsley has scored a goal for Sunderland! Assist by Ki Sung-Yueng.
GOAL!!! SUNDERLAND TAKE THE LEAD ON AGGREGATE! Ki's build-up is patient and after getting crowded out in the area he cuts the ball back to Bardsley. The former United man shoots straight at De Gea, but the goalkeeper inexplicably lets the ball hit his hands and go in.
118'
Marcos Alonso gets yellow.
What a chance for Sunderland! Bardsley does well to hold off Welbeck and Evra before flashing a fierce ball across the goal's face, but none of his team-mates connect with it.
116'
A. Januzaj gets yellow.
Steven Fletcher gets a slight touch on the corner, but the ball does not trouble De Gea.
Januzaj gives a cheap free-kick away and earns a yellow card.
115'
Altidore charges through a Rafael challenge and then crosses, but he must settle for a corner as Darren Fletcher comes across to block it behind.
114'
Not far off for Sunderland! The free-kick is whipped in and Steven Fletcher tries to flick it goalwards, but Jones' pressure sees him miss the target.
113'
P. Jones gets yellow.
Jones goes into the referee's book for a foul off the ball. Meanwhile, Sunderland line up a free-kick after Valencia fouled Colback.
112'
Sunderland are the only side threatening at the moment. United are sat back and defending very deep, but they look dangerous on the break.
Massive chance for United! The hosts four-on-three and all Januzaj has to do is slip Jones into the area on his right, but he goes for goal himself from outside the box and Mannone saves. The attempt is met with mass groans from the home support.
110'
C. Gardner gets yellow.
Yellow card for Cardner as he cynically fouls the rampaging Januzaj just inside the Sunderland half.
107'
Sunderland have penalty claims turned down after Altidore went tumbling off the ball at the back post. It would have been very harsh on Rafael.
106'
United start the second half of extra-time.
105' +1
HALF-TIME! As it stands United will still go through, but they are making such hard work of this. Can Sunderland get the goal to put United under severe pressure? Find out soon!
105'
United break away from the corner again, but Hernandez is all on his own as he runs up the right wing. Eventually he tries to win himself a free-kick on flank, but the officials are having none of it.
104'
Sunderland have themselves another corner as Steven Fletcher's drive is deflected over.
103'
This time it is Welbeck who goes for goal. At least he gets his shot on target, with Mannone getting low to take it into his grasp.
102'
Excellent counterattack by United. Januzaj gets just inside the Sunderland half and picks out a very good through-ball into the centre for Hernandez, but the forward hits his shot early just outside the area and misses the target with a left-footed effort.
101'
Poor decision by Smalling to head a long-ball out for a corner, with Jones covering and seemingly ready to control.
100'
Good goalkeeping by De Gea as he punches the corner delivery away.
99'
Bardsley's cross is sliced out for a corner by Jones.
97'
Valencia is very angry after not being given a free-kick on the right for what looked to be a blatant foul by Alonso.
96'
Gardner tries his luck with a curling effort and De Gea calmly watches it go over his crossbar.
95'
P. Jones enters the game and replaces M. Carrick.
Carrick appears to be in trouble here after seemingly twisting his ankle. Jones comes on in his place.
Meanwhile, Sunderland have a free-kick in the inside-left channel, about 25 yards from goal.
94'
Sunderland get into the United half from the first time in extra-time, but Gardner's cross from deep goes straight out of play before Fletcher can get on the end of it.
92'
Januzaj plays the corner in, but the commanding Mannone rises to catch it.
91'
Right, United get the action restarted.
The hosts are in almost immediately as Valencia gets into the area, but Brown deflects his low cross behind.
90' +5
END OF REGULATION TIME! Referee Lee Mason blows his whistle to bring an end to normal time as extra-time looms. Man United's 1-0 lead in this match means the score is tied at 2-2 on aggregate. Away goals will only come into play at the end of extra-time, so if the score remains as it is, United will go through rather than need penalties.
90' +4
Januzaj's free-kick heads from the top-left corner of Mannone's goal, but the goalkeeper catches the attempt.
90' +3
J. O'Shea gets yellow.
United have themselves a late free-kick in a brilliant area. Hernandez runs towards the area and deceives O'Shea with a shimmy, but he is brought down. Januzaj stands over it.
90' +2
This is end-to-end now as Januzaj threatens for United, before Johnson tries to make headway for Sunderland. Can either nick this before extra-time?
90'
United almost make something from the set-piece as Smalling gets a header away, but the looping effort is caught comfortably by Mannone.
There will be three minutes of stoppage time.
89'
Important block by Mannone! Rafael's low cross looks destined to be knocked in by Welbeck, but the goalkeeper gets in the way. The ball comes back to the Brazilian right-back and he wins a corner.
88'
Good play by Valencia to beat Alonso, but the full-back responds well by getting back and blocking the resulting cross. Corner for United.
Januzaj's delivery is good enough, but Sunderland clear the ball fairly easily.
86'
J. Altidore enters the game and replaces F. Borini.
On comes Altidore for Borini, who by all accounts has had a good match.
85'
P. Evra enters the game and replaces A. Büttner.
With United Buttner struggling, Moyes makes a change, bringing Evra on for the Dutchman.
Januzaj has frustrated his team-mates on a few occasions in this match and he does so again. Welbeck seems to be in a better position in the left side of the Sunderland area, but the midfielder goes for goal himself and sees the ball go out for a throw-in.
83'
C. Gardner enters the game and replaces L. Cattermole.
82'
Sunderland continue to pile the pressure on. Borini finds himself in the right side of United's area and tries to work an opening, but Evans covers well and blocks his attempted cross-cum-shot from a tight angle.
80'
So close to an equaliser! The ball drops kindly for Alonso in the left side of the United area and he unleashes a fearsome half-volley which goes agonisingly wide of De Gea's left-hand post.
79'
Dangerous play by Smalling! The defender has a bouncing ball to deal with as Steven Fletcher charges towards him. The clearance is sliced up into the air and Smalling brings the striker down, but the referee bizarrely waves play on. That could have been a red card for the England man.
78'
Good, patient build-up by United on the right and in the end Januzaj cuts in before crossing, but Mannone plucks the delivery out of the air.
77'
United get the ball out, but only partially. Sunderland keep up the pressure.
76'
Great chance for Sunderland! Borini's cross from the left is brought down by Johnson and he hits a half-volley towards goal, but Evans makes a crucial block. Corner to the away side.
75'
United spring a counterattack, but Valencia slows play down on the right by coming inside and passing to Carrick. The midfielder tries to pick someone out with a pass into the danger zone, but it goes straight out of play. That was poor.
73'
Welbeck meets the resulting corner with a header, but Borini gets in the way and Mannone is able to collect easily. That was an important touch from the Italian.
72'
The lively Januzaj is involved again for United, this time popping up on the right. He cuts inside and unleashes a drive which deflects just over. Corner to United.
69'
Excellent work by Valencia down the right as he spins past Steven Flether on the right. He charges towards the Sunderland area and cuts a low cross to the edge of the box for Januzaj, but the 18-year-old's sliced half-volley completely misses the target.
67'
A quick breakaway from United sees a decent opening created. However, Januzaj opts to shoot from distance instead of trying to slip Welbeck or Hernandez into the area and his shot is not a good one as it fizzes well wide.
65'
F. Borini gets yellow.
They remain on the offensive, however, as they seek a second goal.
Evans receives a kick from Borini after clearing the ball on the stretch and the Italian receives a yellow card.
64'
United are knocking the ball around confidently when they do actually have possession. The supply to Welbeck and Hernandez in particularly has been rather poor, however.
61'
A. Valencia enters the game and replaces S. Kagawa.
Kagawa's evening comes to an end following a quiet start to the second half. Antonio Valencia takes his place.
59'
The visitors' start to the second half has been very good, as quantified by their 62 per cent of possession.
56'
Sunderland have by no means found themselves dominated here so far. They create another decent opening as Borini gets into the left side of the United area, but Smalling blocks his shot.
55'
Good try by Januzaj! The young Belgian is given lots of space about 30 yards from goal and he opts to shoot, but his effort goes agonisingly wide of Mannone's left-hand post.
54'
United clear the free-kick, but the ball lands at the feet of Johnson on the edge of the area and he fires just wide.
53'
The following corner is dealt with better by United, but Sunderland soon win a free-kick on the left as Rafael fouls Borini.
52'
Johnson and Ki create space on the right after the corner. The latter delivers an excellent cross, but Smalling heads it behind.
51'
Positive play by Sunderland. Johnson cross from the right and Evans is forced to clear the loose ball over his goal and out for a corner.
50'
United take a short corner. Kagawa cuts the ball back to Rafael, who, after taking several touches, fires over the bar.
49'
Hernandez keeps Kagawa's pass from going out of play on the right. He crosses towards the centre, but must settle for a corner.
47'
Januzaj steps up and goes for goal, but his effort comfortably clears the crossbar.
46'
Sunderland begin the second half.
United are quick to win the ball back and Hernandez wins a free-kick just outside the visitors' area after a good run.
45'
Good turn by Borini out on the wing. He spins around Rafael and looks set to burst into the United half in dangerous fashion. Smalling has other things in mind, however, and the centre-back produces an expertly-timed clattering challenge to steal the ball back.
42'
The second corner isn't quite so effective, however, and United soon have the ball out of their penalty area.
41'
Alonso plays Borini towards the left-hand corner flag. Rafael comes across to close him down and the Brazilian concedes a corner.
Sunderland create a decent chance for themselves. Brown gets a good header in from towards the back of the penalty area, but Buttner is there to nod it behind for another corner.
39'
Sunderland do their best to create an opening for an instant reply, but Ki's through-ball into the penalty area is too heavy for Borini to even get close to.
37'
J. Evans has scored a goal for Manchester United! Assist by D. Welbeck.
GOAL!!! Manchester United take the lead and level the aggregate score! Januzaj's corner is inadvertently flicked towards the far post by Welbeck and another former Sunderland loanee - Jonny Evans - heads past Mannone.
36'
What a chance for United! Kagawa takes his time in the right side of the area. He delivers a delightful cross to the back post where Fletcher arrives and hits the post. Welbeck meets the rebound, but he hits it straight at Mannone.
35'
Johnson puts the free-kick into the area, but it is cleared straight back out by the man who gave the kick away; Danny Welbeck.
34'
Johnson gets his first chance to run at Buttner. He does a couple of step-overs without causing too much trouble. He checks back and plays a pass inside before being caught late by Welbeck. Free-kick for the visitors.
31'
Welbeck peels out to the left after a crowded exchange in the middle. He shapes to curl the ball into the area, but his delivery goes straight over the crossbar.
29'
Januzaj wins another free-kick on the right flank. Kagawa stands alongside him as they decide what to do.
Januzaj plays it short to Kagawa, who almost immediately plays his team-mate down the wing, but the Belgian's right-footed cross is far too deep.
28'
United's build-up is patient, but eventually Rafael explodes on to a Hernandez backheel in the middle before being fouled.
They make little from the free-kick after playing it short, but they keep the pressure on.
26'
Delightful play by Januzaj again. This time he plays a reverse pass straight through Alonso's legs and into the area. Rafael attempts two crosses, but both are blocked.
25'
Sunderland win the first header, but Rafael is quick to hook it away.
24'
Corner for Sunderland as Steven Fletcher chases a loose ball and knocks it out off Smalling.
22'
Free-kick to United just inside their own half as Januzaj spins away from Alonso and is brought down by the Spaniard.
20'
At the other end, Buttner tries his luck from the left wing, but his effort is wayward to say the least. Sunderland goal-kick.
19'
Good effort by Borini! The Italian chases on to a long ball from the back and lashes a first-time half-volley towards goal, but he narrowly misses the target.
17'
Buttner partially clears a Sunderland cross and gives away a throw-in.
United soon have a throw-in in a similar position as Cattermole chips the ball out of play.
15'
Kagawa and Hernandez link up again as the Mexican brings down a pass in the penalty area, but he is adjudged to have controlled it with his arm.
12'
United nearly work a clever opening as Kagawa picks out a good pass into the area for Hernandez, but the forward's first-touch sees him forced towards the left. He tries to play Buttner into the area, but his pass is intercepted.
11'
More exciting play by Januzaj as he keeps the ball away from four Sunderland players on the right flank, before leaving possession to Fletcher.
10'
Decent effort by O'Shea as he rises above Evans to meet a free-kick from deep, but he heads the ball off target.
9'
The move comes to an end eventually, however, as Ki tries his luck from distance and his tame effort goes well wide.
8'
Encouraging period of possession for Sunderland. Colback looked to have been pressured into a corner down the left, but he cleverly turns away from Rafael and they keep the ball.
6'
Excellent play by Januzaj as he glides past Alonso, but he is brought down by a callous challenge from Borini. Free-kick to United, but somehow the Italian escapes without a yellow card.
Good chance for United! Januzaj's free-kick delivery is inch-perfect as it seeks out Hernandez at the back post and the Mexican heads it at goal, but Mannone palms it away.
5'
The inswinging corner goes deep into the area, but Sunderland get it away.
4'
United are less than impressed as Januzaj appears to be hauled down by Alonso on the right wing, but the referee ignores their protests.
Carrick plays a lofted ball in towards the back post from a deep position. Bardsley heads it behind in front of the lurking Darren Fletcher.
3'
Buttner produces a couple of step-overs as he gets down the left, but former United man Bardsley does well to stick a toe in and steal the ball.
1'
Manchester United get the action started at Old Trafford.
Hello and welcome to the live text commentary of the Capital One Cup semi-final second-leg between Manchester United and Sunderland. My name is Ryan Benson and I shall be describing the action for you today.
The United team is: De Gea; Rafael, Smalling, Evans, Buttner; Januzaj, Carrick, Fletcher, Kagawa; Welbeck, Hernandez.
United subs: Lindegaard, Evra, Jones, Cleverley, Giggs, Young, Valencia.
The Sunderland starting XI is: Mannone; Bardsley, Brown, O'Shea, Alonso; Cattermole, Colback, Ki; Johnson, Fletcher, Borini.
Sunderland have only beaten United twice in their last 25 meetings in all competitions. Both of those victories came in this competition.
United have scored 40 goals in their last 18 Capital One Cup matches. They've failed to score in only one of those games.
Javier Hernandez has played 199 minutes in this season's Capital One Cup, scoring on three occasions.
Sunderland come into this second-leg with a 2-1 advantage following their win at the Stadium of Light. However, with Juan Mata reportedly close to signing for United from Chelsea, there is a resurgent aura around United. Their neighbours and bitter rivals Manchester City await in the final.
The players are now on the pitch. Kick-off is just a few moments away.
HALF-TIME! The referee blows his whistle to end the first half and United take a 1-0 lead into the break, thus levelling the aggregate score at 2-2. Evans' goal is the difference between the two sides after his late header, but this is by no means over, with United not looking particularly threatening through most of that first period.
Here comes Craig Gardner...
Ki now for Sunderland.
Well, what drama! Sunderland go through to the Capital One Cup final after a 2-1 penalties win over Manchester United at Old Trafford. Manchester City await in the final after an extraordinary penalty shootout. Thanks for joining me tonight. I hope you enjoyed the action. Farewell!
