CHANCE! King is fed the ball on the turn inside the box but he attempts an ambitious curler into the top corner and balloons the ball out of play.
90' +2
CHANCE! Lescott is beaten by the pace of Schlupp and the Leicester forward is clear near the byline but his cut back towards the penalty spot is well read by Hart and calmy gathered.
90' +1
There'll be three minutes of added time. Joe Hart again takes his time with a goal kick. City are in no rush here.
90'
Nasri pops up on the right this time and charges his way forward before clipping a good cross towards the back post. James Milner arrives in position to volley but fires his effort high and wide.
88'
Keep ball time for Manchester City. Frustration is growing among the Leicester ranks as they can't get a sniff off the ball. Cold, clinical stuff from Pellegrini's side.
86'
Samir Nasri bites off more than he can chew and dribbles the ball out of play under pressure from two Leicester defenders. Not long for the Foxes to do the unthinkable now. The crowd have lost their voice.
84'
Schlupp does well again to hold the ball up and earn a free kick high up the pitch. Pearson waves everyone forward and it's a good ball into the front post but Garcia is there for Manchester City to clear the danger.
82'
Schlupp and Vardy combine well to bring their team deep into the visitors' half but the midfield is really slow in arriving and Navas snaps the ball away from King. Decent opening wasted.
80'
CHANCE! Schlupp gets forward and wriggles through a few challenges but Javi Garcia does stop the Leicester man in his tracks just as he pulled back for a shot!
79'
Javi Garcia does well to earn his side some respite during a spell of Leicester pressure. The Foxes have come alive!
Minute
Description
77'
L. Dyer has scored a goal for Leicester City! Assist by P. Konchesky.
GOAL! Leicester 1-3 Manchester City - Lloyd Dyer pulls one back!
Dyer gives Leicester a glimmer of hope! Konchesky did well to get to the byline and did even better to spot Lloyd and find him with a cut back. The Foxes forward aimed for the near post and, with the help of small deflection, fire the ball past Hart. Game on?
75'
Nasri hasn't taken long to settle in. He is already orchestraiting the City attacks. The Frenchman tries to be a little too intricate following a lengthy spell on the ball and gives it away.
73'
The free kick is swung in with pace and it finds the towering Wes Morgan but his header is directed straight at Hart who holds the ball well.
72'
It's Dyer again from the right flank causing City problems. He is brought down right near the byline on the edge of the area by Javi Garcia, free kick...
71'
Leicester show some good signs. They almost create a chance as Dyer crosses from the right low and hard but Kompany is aware to the danger and slides to clear.
70'
S. Nasri enters the game and replaces David Silva.
69'
Leicester City fans applaud David Silva as the little Spaniard trots off the pitch. They acknowledge the class of his display and are probably glad he's departing. Samir Nasri is on in his place.
68'
J. Schlupp enters the game and replaces D. Nugent.
67'
Kompany takes a big risk playing the ball back to Hart with Dyer loitering about. The Leicester man charged the City keeper down and almost got a touch on the ball.
65'
It's safe to say Manchester City will be in the semi-final draw of the Capital One Cup. A Leicester comeback now would be a real Christmas miracle...
63'
City are knocking the ball around in the manner of a group of pals having a kickabout in the park before Milner is a bit to casual and plays the ball straight to a Leicester player.
61'
Good save! Silva finds some space for himself and opens out his body, his curled shot ends up going straight at Schmeichel though.
59'
Morgan volleys back into the danger zone after a corner is only half-cleared, but he can't find a teammate.
58'
King makes some space for himself on the left side of the area and chips a cross over, but Hart claims quite easily. Just before that, Drinkwater played an poor pass to stop an attack in its tracks.
56'
Poor from Nugent, who hasn't seen much of the ball. An errant pass halts an attack as Leicester try to get back into the game.
53'
E. Džeko has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by J. Milner.
Milner gets the ball from a throw and cuts back from the byline, where Dzeko waits in acres of space, and picks his spot in the bottom corner. Easy as you like for Manchester City. Unfortunately, looks like this one is over. Prove me wrong Foxes...
GOAL! Leicester 0-3 Manchester City - Edin Dzeko makes it 3-0 with his second of the night!
51'
CHANCE! Hart is forced into his first save of the game, and it's a fairly easy one, as King's shot is weak and only slightly to the England keeper's left.
50'
GREAT SAVE! Another fine stop from Schmeichel, this time beating away a powerful Dzeko half-volley from the edge of the area, after Miquel had slipped over.
48'
Leicester look a little more lively in the opening minutes of the second half. Vardy was presumably introduced to offer a little more pace down the flanks than Taylor-Fletcher.
Andy King recieves some treatment after catching a boot from Milner in the face. It looks like he'll be fine though and after a short delay we are back underway.
47'
With the intention of getting back into this contest, Nigel Pearson has made some half-time changes. Jamie Vardy is on for Taylor-Fletcher, while Matty James replaces Knockaert.
46'
J. Vardy enters the game and replaces A. Knockaert.
M. James enters the game and replaces G. Taylor-Fletcher.
Manchester City take the kick-off and we are underway for the second half.
45' +1
CLOSE! Navas hits a first time shot from Dzeko's lay off and brings a good save out of Schmeichel low to his right!
45'
CLOSE! Milner bends a right-footed shot at goal from a few yards outside the box but Schmeichel gets down well to parry wide. Navas picks it up but isn't able to get the ball back into the danger area quick enough.
43'
Leicester have to keep their heads and not concede another before the break. Schmeichel does the opposite of that and nervously swipes at the ball to hand possession back to the visitors.
41'
E. Džeko has scored a goal for Manchester City! Assist by J. Milner.
GOAL! Leicester 0-2 Manchester City - Edin Dzeko doubles the vistors' lead.
It's a super goal to give Manuel Pellegrini's side a two-goal buffer. Silva threaded Milner through with another delicate pass and rather than shoot, Milner unselfishly chipped the ball for Dzeko to nod over the line. Premier League class, you might say.
39'
The visitors are now exuding the class within their ranks. David Silva is everywhere and the passing is neat and tidy. Dzeko eventually has the effort, driving the ball towards the top left corner from the edge of the box and it only misses by a yard or so.
37'
Joe Hart gets a warning from the referee as he takes his time with a goal kick. Leicester can't get any momentum going at the moment.
35'
Leicester win a free kick in a deep position and send everyone forward. The delivery is palmed for a corner by Hart but the Foxes don't manage to do anything with it and City survive the danger.
34'
D. Boyata gets yellow.
33'
Manchester City play some quick one-touch passing to cut the hosts open before the ball is fed out to Rodwell who drifts to the left. He attempts to shape one in into the far corner with his right foot but doesn't quite get the bend he is looking for. Rodwell has been bright for the visitors so far.
31'
Navas skins Paul Konchesky down the right, but his cross drops into a spot in the area where no team-mate is standing and the ball is cleared. Navas vs. Konchesky should not be allowed.
29'
Almost a great chance as David Silva threads a clever ball into Dzeko's path but the striker fails to bring the ball under his spell and Schmeichel glady comes out to collect the ball.
28'
The third corner is cleared by King before David Silva fires a hopeful attempt wide of Schmeichel's left-hand post.
27'
Great challenge from Morgan to stop James Milner in his tracks. Manchester City come close from the corner from a long-range strike by Kolorav before earning another moments later. This one is headed by Kompany but deflected wide for a third corner in quick succession.
25'
GREAT SAVE! Kasper Schmeichel pulls over another fine save to deny the visitors. He showed great reactions to stop at point-blank range from Dzeko, after Kolarov pulled it back for the Bosnia international. Rodwell tries to put the rebound in, but it goes wide.
24'
Knockaert does brilliantly on the left flank to beat his man and swing in a cross but the ball flies just over Nugent's leap and Manchester City manage to clear!
22'
Jesús Navas gets yellow.
The corner is cleared among shouts of handball from the visiting fans. Leicester manage to gain possession and are quickly on the attack but Jesus Navas cynically brings down Knockaert and gets himself booked.
21'
Milner steals the ball in midfield and launches a threatening Manchester City attack. Rodwell does well to keep the ball in play and win a corner.
19'
It's another misplaced pass from Kolarov. He fails to find Milner again as Manchester City counterattacked Leicester. The hosts are struggling to get Nugent involved in the action.
17'
The Foxes are now beginning to press right up the pitch and have sensed a bit of complaceny in the opposition ranks. Some nervy passing at the back, especially from the goalscorer, Kolarov, has give the home fans some voice.
15'
'England's No. 1' chant the visiting fans to Joe Hart as Manchester City consolidate their lead with a spell of possession.
13'
Dzeko tries to spin in behind the Leicester defence, but runs into the sizeable frame of Wes Morgan.
12'
D. Boyata enters the game and replaces P. Zabaleta.
11'
Worrying situation for the visitors as Pablo Zabaleta has been forced off with an injury. It looks like a hamstring pull, which isn't a good sign. Dedrick Boyata comes on at right-back for City.
10'
Almost a good chance for Leicester as Dyer runs in behind the City defence, but Konchesky's through ball is overhit and the chance goes begging.
8'
A. Kolarov has scored a goal for Manchester City!
What a goal from the Serbia international. He casually stepped up and swung the free kick with curve and dip past a hapless Kasper Schmiechel! Stunning hit in to the top left hand corner.
GOAL! Leicester 0-1 Manchester City - Aleksander Kolarov curls in the free kick!
7'
The corner comes to nothing but Manchester City look threatening now. They win a corner about 30 yards from goal after some good work by Rodwell to earn the decision. Kolarov stands over the ball...
5'
GREAT SAVE! Some fine passing from Manchester City puts Jack Rodwell through on goal, but hits his shot straight at Schmeichel, who rushed off his line and made himself bigh, and it goes for a corner.
3'
Manchester City see the ball for the first time. James Milner drives down the left but bundled over by Knockaert and claims a free kick, but he gets not sympathy from the referee.
2'
Leicester win a free kick wide on the right, and Anthony Knockaert swings it over at some pace, but it's headed clear at the far post. Good start from the hosts.
1'
Leicester take the kick-off and we are underway!
Good evening ladies and gents. Welcome to play-by-play coverage of Leicester v Manchester City in the Capital One Cup LIVE!
Manuel Pellegrini has gone with a predictably strong line-up but has still made eight changes to the side that swept six goals past Arsenal - that's strength in depth for you. Joe Hart, Joleon Lescott, Aleksandar Kolarov, Jack Rodwell, Javi Garcia, James Milner, Jesus Navas and Edin Dzeko come in with a chance to prove themselves
There's also four changes for Leicester City after their 1-1 draw with Burnley, with Marcin Wasilewski, Miquel, Andy King and Gary Taylor-Fletcher coming into the side at the expense of Ritchie de Laet, Liam Moore, Matthew James and Jamie Vardy
Here's what the Foxes' boss, Nigel Pearson, told the club's website earlier today: "We've worked hard in this competition so far to earn this tie so I don't think it would be quite right if we weren't looking forward to it. I love the cup competitions - they're different which makes it interesting as well because because it's got a slightly different feel to it, but of course it still remains a very tough fixture for us. It should be a great attendance - hopefully be a full house - and it should be a really good atmosphere."
A statistic to give the home fans some hope today, Leicester have scored 13 in the competition so far this season - more than any other side. Manchester City have also had a few troubles on the road this season. Are we in for an upset...?
Two days after winning the talent show, 'The X Factor', Sam Bailey is on the King Power Stadium turf belting out a few hits to get the crowd going. She's decked out in the Foxes' home kit. Oh the glamour...
Another stat for you fine folks, this one though makes good reading for Manchester City fans. These two sides have met twice in the cup before, both times in the 60s, both times the Manchester club came out on top.
HALF-TIME: Leicester 0-2 Manchester City
The referee's whistle will comes as a welcome break for Nigel Pearson and his team. Manchester City were coming on strong at the end of the half and you fancied them to add their two-goal lead.
In truth, only the heroics of Kasper Schmeichel have kept Leicester in this contest. Which is still a big ask from two-nil down against the might of Manchester City.
FULL-TIME: Leicester 1-3 Manchester City
Lloyd Dyer gave Leicester some hope but his second half goal only turned out to be a consollation. Manchester City are well worth their places in the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup.
Aleksander Kolarov opened the scoring with a delight free kick into the top corner and the writing was on the wall from then. Two well-taken goals either side of the break from Edin Dzeko was enough to seal the win despite the late rally from the Foxes.
Thanks for joining me for this Capital One Cup quarter-final but, sadly, that's it for tonight. Good night.
