Corner to Everton now! It could be the last kick of the game...
The danger is cleared and it's still 3-3 here!
McCarthy is tackled right in front of goal!
90' +2
But Liverpool race straight up the other end and Suarez hits a phenomenal strike at goal but Howard is there! Great save from the American.
GOAL! But it's offside... Coutinho nets but the flag is raised. No winner here as of yet...
90' +1
Everton have a chance late on now with a throw-in in the Liverpool half...
90'
Almost! Victor Moses goes close but should have scored!
89'
S. Distin gets yellow.
D. Sturridge has scored a goal for Liverpool! Assist by S. Gerrard.
GOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! It's Sturridge who tucks it away as Liverpool score the sixth goal of the game. His ninth of the season and the Reds come out of nowhere to sneak a late equaliser!
From one profilic striker to another! Will there be even more goals in this one?
88'
L. Osman enters the game and replaces Kevin Mirallas.
85'
But can anyone stop Lukaku? Perhaps Rodgers could have done with him at Anfield!
84'
J. Stones enters the game and replaces S. Pienaar.
Gerrard whips a great ball in but Phil Jagielka heads it out! Can Liverpool, now, get the goal they desperately need?
82'
R. Lukaku has scored a goal for Everton! Assist by Kevin Mirallas.
GOAL! No longer! Mignolet can't stop this one - and it's Lukaku yet again! The Belgian rises like a phoenix and thumps a powerful header home. Everton have the lead!
Minute
Description
81'
SAVE!!! Mignolet makes another terrific save from Delofeu! The Belgian goalkeeper is now keeping Liverpool in this game...
79'
D. Sturridge enters the game and replaces Lucas Leiva.
L. Suárez gets yellow.
CHANCE!!! It is Suarez now who is presented with a golden chance! The Uruguayan has a free header but sends it straight towards Tim Howard! Suarez is then booked for a foul he made earlier during Everton's counterattack.
78'
Gerrard takes the corner but it is cleared and the hosts break! But Lukaku's lay-off to Pienaar is too short. Meanwhile, Daniel Sturridge waits to come on for Liverpool...
77'
The visitors attempt to regain the lead now, however, as Johnson surges into the penalty area and attempts to cut the ball back to Coutinho. The pass is blocked before it can reach the Brazilian, though, and it goes out for a corner kick.
76'
How will Liverpool fans feel about Allen's open-goal miss, meanwhile? And what will they think about Phil Dowd's decision not to send Mirallas off in the first half?
74'
So where will we go from here? Will we see a repeat of last year's 2-2 draw at Goodison, or can either side go on to win this?
72'
R. Lukaku has scored a goal for Everton! Assist by J. McCarthy.
GOAL! Everton's persistence pays off! And it's Lukaku (who else?) who grabs the equaliser. The Belgian initially hit a free kick at goal and it was deflected, with the ensuing confusion providing the perfect environment for Lukaku to pounce and make it 2-2.
71'
The hosts now win a free kick in a dangerous position. It has to be said, it has been all Everton in recent minutes.
70'
But Lukaku is through once more! He fails to capitalise once more but the Belgian has been a real threat running onto the ball.
69'
V. Moses enters the game and replaces J. Allen.
It is Rodgers who makes a change, however, perhaps sparing Allen's blushes.
67'
Lucas Leiva gets yellow.
Nothing comes of the set-piece and boss Martinez might want to consider making further changes.
66'
The home side win a free kick now 30 yards away from goal. It was Lucas with the foul.
65'
Everton keep pushing but Liverpool keep withstanding the pressure. Can they grab an equaliser?
64'
The visiting goalkeeper has been superb so far - and has been crucial to his side preserving their lead.
63'
SAVE! Well, there's a good chance for the home side now! Lukaku is put through and Mignolet makes his third important save of the match! From one Belgian to another.
62'
J. Allen gets yellow.
61'
Both sides could have added to their tally so far this second half, though it has been Liverpool with the better chances.
60'
And his day just gets worse... Allen has now been booked! Is the ex-Swansea midfielder being more a hindrance to Liverpool than a help?
58'
WHAT A CHANCE! Allen has been put through by Suarez. But the Welshman has missed from an open goal!!
56'
And now the visitors strike as Coutinho beats his man at the edge of the box but the ball then trickles away from him! End-to-end football here as both sides find space in behind their opposite numbers.
Moments earlier, Gerrard had combined with Johnson but Everton were let off once again. Goals still look very likely here.
54'
CHANCE! Substitute Delofeu is through on goal! But his shot is straight at Mignolet. Fortune favoured the Belgian shot stopper there!
53'
The Reds look dangerous on the counterattack, as ever, though.
52'
Liverpool have some defending to do now as Martin Skrtel heads clear an Everton attack.
50'
Deulofeu enters the game and replaces L. Baines.
On comes Barcelona loanee Gerard Deulofeu as Martinez looks to change things up!
48'
TACKLE! Is that revenge on the cards for Suarez? The Uruguayan lunges in at Mirallas! The Liverpool man did, however, get the ball.
47'
Lukaku threatens early on! Daniel Agger blocks the Belgian's shot but Allen almost presents the ball straight back to the home side.
46'
We are back underway for the second half!
45' +1
Liverpool continue to protect their lead as half-time approaches.
45'
Two minutes of injury time are announced!
44'
Nothing comes of the set-piece but Liverpool now win their own corner at the other end of the pitch. Can they sneak a third goal before half-time?
43'
The two professionals brush the incident off and get straight back to work, though Glen Johnson looks less impressive as he dallies on the ball in his own half and loses possession! The Toffees win a corner as a result.
42'
CLASH OF THE TITANS! Gerrard and Barry smash right into each other in the middle of the park as they both try to get to the same ball!
40'
It is worth remembering that Martinez's side have not lost even once at Goodison Park so far this season. Could this be their first defeat?
38'
But captain Gerrard swings the momentum somewhat with some great play in midfield.
37'
Liverpool continue to defend with strength, despite increasing Everton pressure.
36'
Kevin Mirallas gets yellow.
YELLOW CARD! Mirallas might count himself lucky, although the home crowd would have felt that Suarez's over-reaction (surely not?) would have made it unjust.
34'
FOUL! Mirallas produces a poor challenge on Suarez and that's a second booking in the space of a few minutes for the home side. There have even been calls for a red card after that tackle and we don't know which one the referee has produced yet...
32'
Rodgers' Liverpool side seem to have their tactics spot on, with a high-pressing game working miracles for them so far.
31'
R. Barkley gets yellow.
DIVE! Perhaps in frustration, Barkley attempts to win a free kick cheaply and flings himself towards the ground. He is rightly booked for a dive!
30'
Once again, the Toffees push through - but to little avail.
29'
The hosts are now trying to patiently thread passes together in the Liverpool half - but the visitors look calm and composed in defence.
27'
Everton are caught ball-watching in midfield now but Distin just about manages to shepherd the ball out of play under pressure from Suarez.
26'
CHANCE! So too is Lukaku's Belgium team-mate Mirallas, who cuts past Flanagan and whips the ball just off target.
24'
Liverpool look good value at the moment, although the likes of Barkley and Lukaku are constantly threatening.
22'
Have the home side got it in them to bounce back again?
21'
But it won't last long once more, if they're not careful. Barkley threatens again but Mignolet denies him with a great save. The young England man has been very lively for Everton so far.
20'
So the visitors retake the lead!
19'
L. Suárez has scored a goal for Liverpool!
GOAL!!! Suarez!!! Sensational strike! I bet Barry regrets his tackle from behind now, as the Uruguayan lashes his free kick straight into the back of the net. The defence did themselves no favours with a poorly-formed wall - and Martinez, on the sidelines, does not look happy.
17'
Gareth Barry is the latest to commit a foul, with Luis Suarez on the end of it. No surprises there.
16'
The tackles are flying in now - as ever in a Merseyside derby!
14'
Barkley now tries some skill in the Liverpool half, skipping past Allen, before sending a cross towards the box. Lucas Leiva gets across to block, however.
13'
The pace has settled somewhat now, with both sides coming out all guns blazing to start off with. Lukaku, Gerrard and Pienaar have been the biggest threats so far.
12'
ANOTHER CHANCE! Lukaku is released by Pienaar and runs toward goal, though Mignolet comes out and puts him under pressure, with the Belgian then getting the final touch and knocking it out for a goal kick.
11'
Time to pause for breath as the ball rolls out of play, though there is more debate about the goal. Distin may have been in an offside position, though it was Mirallas who advanced forward and opened his account for the season.
10'
What a start! The hosts have come straight back, with no holds barred. It's been a frantic start to the derby!
8'
Kevin Mirallas has scored a goal for Everton! Assist by R. Barkley.
GOAL! Everton equalise! That lead didn't last long! It's another set-piece this time, though there is debate as to who exactly headed it in. Sylvain Distin and Kevin Mirallas are the candidates - but the Belgian is awarded it.
5'
Philippe Coutinho has scored a goal for Liverpool!
GOALLLLL!!! Liverpool take the lead! It's Coutinho: the little Brazilian, who finishes brilliantly at the far post after a great cross into the area. That's the first goal Everton have conceded in four matches - and against the early run of play.
3'
James McCarthy now breaks forward and links up with Romelu Lukaku. The move comes to nothing but the home fans are visibly buoyed by their side's strong start!
2'
Steven Pienaar attempts to play in Barkley early on! But the ball only goes as far as Simon Mignolet.
1'
And we're off at Goodison Park!
Good afternoon and welcome to live-text commentary of the Merseyside Derby! I'm your host Tim Poole and I'll be guiding you through Everton against Liverpool.
Goodison Park is the venue today for the 221st Merseyside Derby in history and two former Swansea bosses are the managers: Roberto Martinez (Everton) and Brendan Rodgers (Liverpool).
Let's start with today's team news, going to the hosts first. Everton: Howard; Coleman, Baines, Jagielka, Distin; Mirallas, Barry, McCarthy, Barkley, Pienaar; Lukaku. Substitutes: Robles, Heitinga, Jelavic, Deulofeu, Naismith, Osman, Stones.
Visitors Liverpool, meanwhile, will be lining up like this: Mignolet, Johnson, Flanagan, Lucas, Skrtel, Agger; Lucas, Gerrard, Allen, Henderson, Coutinho; Suarez. Substitutes: Jones, Toure, Luis Alberto, Moses, Sturridge, Sakho, Sterling.
Interestingly, Rodgers has thrown Jon Flanagan and Joe Allen in at the deep end with today's team selection, though there is only one surprise with the Toffees' first-team line-up, as Ross Barkley, Romelu Lukaku, Leighton Baines and co. all start but Leon Osman can only make the bench.
So kick-off is just minutes away, with second-place against sixth but, more importantly, Everton against Liverpool, two of the greatest rivals in English football. Stay with us for the action!
HALF-TIME! Three goals, two bookings and a sensational first half! What a great match to start off the weekend. Liverpool lead Everton 2-1 at the break.
Brendan Rodgers' side look good value for their lead after a half full of defensive solidity and attacking creativity. Everton have had plenty to offer themselves, however, but a Phillipe Coutinho opener and Luis Suarez free kick mean Liverpool are a goal up at half-time.
Kevin Mirallas had cancelled out Coutinho's opener just three minutes after the Brazilian struck - but Suarez hit back later. And there will be plenty to play for after the break. Both sets of fans might do well to remember that the same fixture last year played out as a 2-2 draw. Anything could happen from here on out.
IT'S ALL OVER! Everton 3-3 Liverpool!
Daniel Sturridge hit back, however, and a fiercely-contested clash finished all square - perhaps what both sides deserve. This is Tim Poole signing out: we hope you enjoyed our coverage!
What a game! Both sides go home with a point each and three goals added to their Goals Scored tally this season. Almost too much happened to describe, with Phillipe Coutinho putting Liverpool ahead early on and Kevin Mirallas equalising minutes later. Luis Suarez then put the visitors ahead but Romelu Lukaku struck twice to give the home side a 3-2 lead!
