A pacey Leverkusen attack sees Sam gallop down the right flank and cut the ball back inside to Hegeler, but the substitute drags a shot wide of the left-hand post.
89'
Hubschmannnn!! Unlucky! The Czech rifles a strike at goal from 25 yards that dips and turns in the air and forces Leno into an awkward save! A decent attempt that!
87'
Bernard picks up a superb pass over the top of the Leverkusen defence and sprays the ball across the park to Srna. The Shakhtar captain plays back inside to Ilsinho but a poor touch from the Brazilian allows Leverkusen to counterattack.
85'
Toprak to Wollscheid and back again. That's the state of play at the moment as Leverkusen just confidently strut the ball around at the back. They'll just be eager to keep a clean sheet now.
83'
Hyypia's men looking extremely comfortable in the closing stages here. Any fight that Shakhtar had left went away when they conceded the third goal, and they are just playing at walking pace now. They want to hear the final whistle and go home.
81'
Despite the scoreline being massively in favour of Leverkusen, you get the feeling that they'll face a completely different Shakhtar when the two sides meet again in two weeks at the Donbass Arena. The Ukrainian side are a completely different animal at home.
79'
That's just really, really poor from Douglas Costa. The Brazilian has an opportunity to pick out a pass inside but instead opts for a flamboyant backheels down the wing. The attempted pass goes straight out of play. Not exactly what Lucescu will want to see when his side are 4-0 down.
78'
F. Ferreyra enters the game and replaces Luiz Adriano.
77'
Shakhtar follows suit and makes their final change also. Luiz Adriano leaves the field and is replaced by Facundo Ferreya, who netted a hat-trick in a recent 7-0 demolition of Arsenal Kiev.
76'
E. Derdiyok enters the game and replaces S. Kießling.
Minute
Description
75'
Third and final change from Sami Hyypia. Two-goal Stefan Kiessling comes off to be replaced by Eren Derdiyok. The 29-year-old has completely bullied the Shakhtar backline tonight.
74'
Don't forget folks, this is the same Shakhtar side that held Manchester United in the previous Champions League Group A match. They've just completely capitulated tonight!
72'
S. Kießling has scored a goal for Bayer Leverkusen!
GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAL FOR LEVERKUSEN!! A HORRIBLE ERROR FROM PYATOV!! A harmless cross comes into the box and the Shakhtar 'keeper spills the ball straight to the feet of Kiessling, who gratefully pokes the ball into the empty net! 4-0! Incredible scoreline!
71'
J. Hegeler enters the game and replaces Son Heung-Min.
70'
Another change from Leverkusen sees the impressive Son Heung-Min withdrawn for Jens Hegeler.
69'
E. Can gets yellow.
68'
Srna whips in the set-piece and the ball breaks to Bernard at the back post, and the Brazilian earns a corner kick for his side. A decent period of pressure from the visitors at the moment. Can they capitalise?
67'
Emre Can is the latest player to go into the book for a late challenge in the inside-right channel. Shakhtar with a real opportunity to get a good ball into the box here, so let's see what they can make of it.
66'
Bernard is definitely looking bright since his introduction!
65'
Excellent play from Bernard! The substitute twists and turns on the left-hand side before bursting inside and releasing Douglas Costa. He takes too many touches though, and Leverkusen clear!
63'
I don't think anyone would have predicted quite a commanding scoreline at the start of the match. It looks like Leverkusen are going to continue their superb record at home in the Champions League.
61'
Ilsinho enters the game and replaces Fernando.
Second change of the match from Shakhtar. Ilsinho comes on to replace Fernando. A positive change as the former is slightly more attacking oriented.
60'
S. Kießling gets yellow.
59'
Stefan Kiessling picks up a booking for a late challenge down the right wing. A small blotch on an otherwise superb night so far for the German.
57'
S. Sam has scored a goal for Bayer Leverkusen! Assist by Son Heung-Min.
GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLL FOR LEVERKUSEN!!! 3-0!! Kiessling wins a flick-on up top and Son picks up the loose ball. He slides a pass through for the oncoming Sam who takes an assured touch before sliding a strike past Pyatov! This is turning into a real hiding for Shakhtar here!
56'
P. Wollscheid enters the game and replaces E. Spahić.
55'
Wollscheid makes an extremely important interception inside the box shortly after coming on! Quite an introduction!
54'
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international won't be able to continue, and he'll be replaced by Philipp Wollscheid.
53'
Some trouble for Leverkusen here as centre-back Spahic has knocked the ball out of play and went down clutching his thigh. He might have picked up a hamstring injury, and the physios are attending to him.
51'
Srna, the captain of Shakhtar, has really put his side in trouble here. It was a really daft foul on Kiessling and the penalty was correctly awarded.
50'
Penalty goal scored by S. Rolfes for Bayer Leverkusen!
D. Srna gets yellow.
GOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLL FOR LEVERKUSEN!! ROLFES STEPS UP AND LASHES THE PENALTY INTO THE RIGHT CORNER! PYATOV NO CHANCE! 2-0!
49'
PENALTY TO LEVERKUSEN! SRNA PUSHES KIESSLING IN THE BACK AND THE REFEREE POINTS TO THE SPOT!
47'
A big substitution from Mircea Lucescu at half time. Big money signing Bernard comes on from Taison; Let's see what the 21-year-old is made of!
46'
Bernard enters the game and replaces Taison.
We are back under way in Group A!
45' +1
Alex Teixeira!!! That HAS to go in!! Shakhtar typically counterattack at pace through the middle and Luiz Adriano slides the ball out to his compatriot who lashes his strike straight into the side-netting! It should be 1-1!
44'
Kiessliiiiing! Unlucky! The German once again gets on the end of a cross into the danger area but this time his header at goal goes north of the crossbar. He's getting far too much space in there.
42'
Douglas Costa cuts in from the right wing and looks to smash a left-footed strike at goal but the attempt takes a deflection on its way through and runs harmlessly into the arms of Leno.
40'
Can has just showed some signs of nervousness in the middle of the park whenever he receives the ball. He almost surrenders possession in a horrible position in his own half but eventually manages to stab the ball back to Leno.
38'
G. Donati gets yellow.
First booking of the match is for Leverkusen as Donati goes in heavy-handed on Luiz Adriano. A bit harsh but the visitors get the free kick down the left-hand side.
36'
Pooooooor touch from Taison! Shakhtar win the ball in midfield and looks to press ahead on the counterattack, but the Brazilian takes a horribly heavy touch which allows Toprak to make the challenge.
34'
The bicycle kick may not have been the best idea from Can as the 19-year-old is down holding his back after a pretty hard fall. It looks as though he'll be okay to continue, though.
33'
Sidney Sam floats in the corner kick and Kiessling's header falls to Emre Can at the edge of the box. He attempts a spectacular bicycle kick that bundles harmlessly wide of the post. Not the best effort you'll ever see.
31'
We haven't exactly seen the most blistering football in the opening 30 minutes, but it's delicately poised as Leverkusen lead 1-0. Both sides more than capable of grabbing further goals in the match.
29'
Superb interception by Shevchuk. We've seen plenty of the Shakhtar left-back going forward tonight but he just shows his positional awareness as he blocks a pass through to Kiessling with a slide challenge.
27'
Having said that, Shakhtar are playing some really nice stuff at the moment. The problem being is that Spahic and Toprak haven't been taxed too much at the back for Leverkusen.
25'
On the balance of play so far, that's probably no more than Leverkusen deserve. They've sprayed the ball about nicely in the opening 25 minutes and have bossed the possession in the middle of the park.
23'
That certainly wasn't a 'ghost goal' from the 29-year-old! No doubt about that one, he bulleted that header in!
22'
S. Kießling has scored a goal for Bayer Leverkusen! Assist by G. Donati.
GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAALLL FOR LEVERKUSEN!! THE HOSTS TAKE THE LEAD!! Donati gets into an advanced position down the right-hand side and stands a cross into the box for Kiessling, who glances a perfect header into the bottom left corner! 1-0!
21'
Son breaks forward and lashes a strike at goal but the attempt is swiftly blocked by the Shakhtar defence. The ball breaks nicely for Leverkusen though...
19'
Most of the possession has gone through Leverkusen so far, but the German's have struggled to break down the sturdy Shakhtar defensive unit. Any time they get the ball in the opposition half they are met with with a wall of white jerseys.
17'
Important interception from Donati!! Shakhtar counterattack at blistering pace down the right-hand side and Douglas Costa eventually reverses a cross into the Leverkusen box, but the right-back got a toe to the ball to take it away from the oncoming Taison!
15'
Disappointing from Gonzalo Castro, who sends the set-piece straight into the opposition wall.
14'
A terrific turn from Son Heung-Min sees the South Korean burst towards goal through the centre but he is unceremoniously bundled over by Douglas Costa. Free kick to Leverkusen in a useful position outside the box.
12'
Rakitskiiiiiiy!!! The Shakhtar defender steps up and lashes a 35-yard free kick towards goal that just flashes past the right-hand post! Leno had it covered anyway.
10'
The BayArena only hold around 30,000 spectators, but with the noise coming from the stands you'd think it was double that. What an atmosphere!
9'
The visitors have just begun to take a foothold on the match and are just enjoying their own period of sustained possession at the moment. Neither goalkeeper has been overly tested as of yet, though.
7'
No sign of either of Shakhtar's big-money arrivals from the summer. Bernard only features on the bench and Fred hasn't made the match squad.
5'
Fernando picks up a loose ball 25 yards out and unleashes a left-footed strike towards goal, but his attempt is blocked by his own players, Luiz Adriano. Leverkusen manage to clear.
3'
Shakhtar momentarily break out and execute a counterattack down the left through Taison but Leverkusen eventually recover to reclaim possession. The Ukrainians set up for the counterattack tonight?
2'
Leverkusen knocking the ball around nicely in the opening couple of minutes here. All the play is featuring in the final third for the home side.

Shakhtar get us under way!
Good evening folks! Welcome to LIVE coverage of the UEFA Champions League Group A clash between Bayer Leverkusen and Shakhtar Donetsk from the BayArena!
I'm Martin Macdonald, and it's my pleasure to take you through the action!
Shakhtar (4-2-3-1): Pyatov; Srna, Kucher, Rakitskiy, Shevchuk; Hubschman, Fernando; Douglas Costa, Alex Teixeira, Taison; Luiz Adriano
Leverkusen have won their last seven matches at the BayArena in the Champions League but their Ukrainian opponents are unbeaten in seven games in all competitions.
However, one of these wins was shrouded in controversy thanks to the infamous 'ghost goal' scored by Stefan Kiessling in the win over Hoffenheim. The German netted the winner via the side-netting, which has saw some calls to re-play the match.
Mircea Lucescu's men are also making terrific progress in their domestic league. They have scored 10 goals in their past two league matches and currently sit second in the Ukrainian Premier League.
This promises to be a very interesting encounter tonight folks. The stats suggest this will be a tightly-contested affair...
The Bundesliga side have also made their best ever start to a domestic season. They have recorded seven wins from their opening nine matches and currently sit in third, just a point behind Bayern Munich at the summit of the table.
The players have took to the field now...
The Champions League theme sounds out in the BayArena to rousing cheers from the home crowd! Some atmosphere in Germany as always!
In my opinion, two pretty evenly matched teams here. Let's see who will come out on top!
Leverkusen have taken three points from two matches in Group A, and Shakhtar currently top the group with four points from their opening two clashes.
Half time in Germany.
Leverkusen have enjoyed the majority of possession so far and their bossing of the ball paid off when Stefan Kiessling rose high in the box to bullet a header home to make it 1-0. Alex Teixeira spurned the best chance for Shakhtar in the last minute of the first half when he sent his strike into the side-netting. The game is perfectly poised at the minute, and the Ukrainians will not feel they are out of this!
Full time in Germany! Leverkusen win 4-0!
The Bundesliga move up into second place in Champions League Group A thanks to goals from Simon Rolfes, Sidney Sam, and a double from Stefan Kiessling. Shakhtar never turned up on the night and were punished severely by the clinical German side. The Ukrainians will be out for revenge in the return fixture in two weeks, though! I'm Martin Macdonald, thanks for being with us tonight, see you next time!
