Kroos almost makes it four with an effort from distance that goes narrowly wide, but it proves to be the last action of the game.
90'
The Austria fans have begun their exodus from the stadium. They have clearly seen enough. It has benn a rather disjointed performance from Marcel Koller's men, who have looked some way short of the quality displayed by Germany.
88'
T. Müller has scored a goal for Germany! Assist by B. Höwedes.
GOOOOOAALL!! Muller wraps up the three points with a simple finish at the end of a fluid move. Kroos spotted Howedes run down the left and the defender cut the ball back into the area for Muller to tap the ball into an empty net.
85'
Austria are still in the hunt for a late goal here, but their tackles are becoming extremely rough in the closing stages. They may be lucky to end the game with 11 now!
83'
F. Klein gets yellow.
82'
S. Bender enters the game and replaces M. Klose.
Having equalled Gerd Muller's record, Klose is replaced by Bender as Low looks to make sure of the three points in the closing stages.
81'
M. Klose gets yellow.
E. Pogatetz gets yellow.
80'
V. Kavlak gets yellow.
It has been a combative performance from Kavlak, but he perhaps goes in a bit too hard on Kroos there. He earns a booking for that challenge and he can have no complaints.
78'
F. Klein enters the game and replaces G. Garics.
77'
Klose gets the ball in the net... but the record-breaking goal is chalked off for offside. His movement there was only surpassed by Khedira's exquisite pass. If he'd played it a bit earlier it would have been the perfect ball.
Minute
Description
75'
The Germany defence is caught in disarray again as Weimann's touch almost plays Harnik in on goal, but the referee's assistant raises his flag for offside.
74'
Germany have won their last eight matches against Austria. It is definitely going to take something special from Koller's men to stop die Mannschaft from making it nine in a row tonight.
72'
MULLER GOES CLOSE!! The Bayern man is found in space on the right side of the area and he thumps a low effort towards the far corner. Almer manages to get down to it but the rebound falls for the forward again. He looks to loop it over the keeper but Almer once more comes out on top.
70'
GOOD SAVE!! Harnik manages to latch onto a ball over the top and he tries to guide it into the goal with a delicate flick. Neuer does well, though, coming off his line and smothering the attempt.
69'
NEUER WAS WORRIED!! A delightfully clipped ball over the top from Alaba finds Sabitzer with space inside the box. He shoots on the spin and his effort takes a deflection off of Boateng which almost sees it sneak in at the near post.
68'
M. Sabitzer enters the game and replaces M. Arnautović.
Reus is released, this time down the right flank, and he manages to work his way into the area. With limited options in the area he just looks to aim the ball towards the back post but he hits it well over the bar.
67'
G. Burgstaller enters the game and replaces A. Ivanschitz.
Marcel Koller makes a couple of changes now as his team have really gone off the boil since that second goal. Some fresh legs may help them as they look to break at speed.
65'
Germany win a free kick 30 yards from goal but look to capitalise on disarray in the Austrian ranks with a quick one. Klose's pass into Ozil, though, is overhit and Almer manages to come and collect.
62'
Having headed away the Germany corner, the Austrians look to break at pace. Kavlak picks the ball up and carries it forward before laying it out to the right for Harnik but his cutback into the area only finds a white shirt.
60'
Arnautovic goals for goal from the set piece with a ferocious strike, however, he is unable to guide his effort on target and Neuer calmly watches it sail wide.
59'
S. Khedira gets yellow.
Kavlak is bleeding again! After a challenge from Khedira which gives the visitors a free kick, he is forced of to the sidelines for yet more treatment.
57'
Austria manage to relieve some of the pressure on themselves as they push forward down the right. The ball eventually reaches Kavlak but again he does not appear to have his shooting boots on as he misses the target.
55'
ALMER SAVES!! A good delivery to the back post from Ozil looks to be heading out of play but Muller manages to get on the end of it and divert the ball on target. Almer is positioned well, though, and manages to flick the attempt behind with his leg.
53'
Super play from Reus! Moments after his first touch lets him down inside the area he redeems himself with a delightful flick into the path of Muller. The forward has to slide to reach it but he still makes a good connection. Almer, however, stays big and manages to block the shot.
51'
T. Kroos has scored a goal for Germany! Assist by M. Reus.
GOOOAALL!! What a striker from Kroos! Dragovic fails to clear the ball well enough and it falls to Reus just inside the area. He lays possession back for the midfielder and his first-time effort arrows into the corner of Almer's net. There was no stopping that.
50'
Already Germany are looking vulnerable down their left following the withdrawal of Schmelzer. Howedes does not looked to have settled into the game at all as of yet.
48'
JUST WIDE!! Harnik does brilliantly to battle past Boateng before knocking the ball one side of Howedes and picking it up on the other. He rolls the ball back to Kavlak but the midfielder pulls his effort wide of the far post.
46'
B. Höwedes enters the game and replaces M. Schmelzer.
The second half has begun.
GOOD CHANCE!! Alaba accelerates away from Khedira in the middle and slips a pass into Weimann, who found space between Boateng and Howedes. His first touch is good but he blazes his shot at goal well over the bar.
45' +2
A stoppage-time corner for Austria is swung in from the right by Alaba. He is unbale to beat the first man as Khedira heads it away. Mertesacker clears away their second attempt to put the ball in the box but Dragovic loops an effort from 30 yards on the follow up. Neuer watches it all the way and plucks it out of the sky.
44'
M. Reus gets yellow.
Schmelzer is down on the ground now after a coming together with Harnik. He, too, looks to have caught an elbow to the face. Arnautovic does not care though and carries on playing. He receives a large amount of boos as his shot cannons back of the post. Play had been stopped for a god 10 seconds already!
41'
Well held by Neuer! Alaba, who has three goals in his previous four outings for Austria, launches an effort on goal from distance. It bounces just before the keeper but he manages to hold onto it.
40'
An awful pass from Kavlak hands possession straight to Muller and puts his defence under real pressure. The Bayern man spreads the ball out to the left for Reus, but this time the BVB forward is unable to beat Dragovic.
38'
Some lovely football from Germany on the left with Reus, Schmelzer, Ozil and Kroos all combining. The latter attempts to thread a killer pass into the area for Klose but there are too many bodies in the way and the danger is cleared. Still, some exquisite passing and moving on show.
37'
A. Weimann gets yellow.
Weimann talks himself into the referee's book there. He put in a clear push on Lahm as they competed for a ball over the top, but he certainly did not agree with the decision to award Germany a free kick. His reaction is what earns him a booking.
35'
Klose almost breaks the record! He gets in behind Fuchs and tries to stand the ball up at the far post, possibly for a team-mate, but Almer dives across and parries the ball away. It could have snuck in at the corner.
33'
M. Klose has scored a goal for Germany! Assist by T. Müller.
THERE IT IS!! KLOSE EQUALS THE RECORD!! A brilliant low, driven cross from Muller on the right is met by the striker at the near post and he slides in his 68th goal for Germany. He is now the national team's joint all-time highest scorer, alongside Gerd Muller.
31'
Dragovic appears to be having difficulties with the fleet footedness that Reus possesses as he again brings him down about 30 yards from goal.
30'
This referee seems to have a bad habit of getting in the way of the German players when they get within shooting range of the Austria area. I understand he wants to be close to the action, but seriously, he's spending most of his time hopping over passes.
28'
WHAT A SAVE!! Reus is released down the left channel but the keeper manages to get something on his effort and keep it out. The loose ball falls to Klose inside the area and his header looks set to drop into the net, but Almer scrambles back across his goal and knocks it behind for a corner.
26'
Fuchs gets forward for the first time this evening and looks to put the ball into the area from the byeline. His delivery is far too close to Neuer, though, and the keeper drops down to smother the ball.
24'
Kavlak has been forced off for more attention following that blow to the face. He is clearly still bleeding so the medical staff will have to fix it or risk leaving their team short a man for extended periods.
22'
Schmelzer lands Neuer in hot water as a miscommunication in defence ends with the left-back sending a header back towards his own keeper. He clearly does not realise how close Harnik is behind him but in his haste to steal the ball the Austrian concedes a free kick for his challenge on Neuer.
20'
Marcel Koller's side are looking rather fluid, positionally, up top. Ivanschitz and Arnautovic look to be sticking to the wide areas while Weimann and Harnik interchange in the central striking role.
19'
Reus does excellently to win a free kick for his side as he races inside and is brought down as he cuts between Alaba and Dragovic. Unfortunately his delivery from the subsequent set play is not of the same quality and is gathered comfortably by Almer.
17'
We have a break in play here as Kroos and Kavlak collide while attempting to win an aerial ball. The Austrian looked to be caught by a flailing elbow and is forced off the field for treatment.
15'
A brilliant tackle from Mertesacker stops the Austrian counterattack in its tracks. Kavlak did well to pick out Harnik but he found the Arsenal defender blocking his way as he turned and ran at goal.
13'
There is another side to Khedira's game. An absolutely crunching, but fair, challenge in midfield to dispossess Arnautovic before launching his side forward. He gets up to support but his chipped pass to Muller is pulled back as the Bayern man is offside.
11'
That could have been the one for Klose! The striker was released by a brilliant pass but he fired his attempt straight into the side netting of Almer's goal. You would expect him to do better there.
10'
JUST WIDE!! A great effort from Khedira as he wins the ball back in midfield and moves it forward. He stays out left and receives possession as he makes a run back inside. He releases an excellent, curling effort for the far corner but it shades the outside of the post.
9'
That is better from die Mannschaft! Muller brings the ball in field from the right and rolls it across the box to Ozil. He feeds Kroos but the Bayern man's return pass runs all the way through to the keeper. A good defensive line from the visitors.
7'
Low will have his worries about his defence, though. Germany have shipped nine goals in their previous three friendly outings. Improvements are clearly needed if they are to qualify for Brazil and prove to be contenders there next summer.
5'
Kroos plumps for goal with an effort from distance but he is unable to keep his effort down and on target. The hosts will just be pleased to have moved possession away from their own box.
4'
Fuchs flights in a free kick from deep on the left and Pogatetz gets his head to it inside the area. Fortunately for Low's men the centre-back is deemed to have committed a foul in the area and they win a free kick of their own.
3'
Austria are clearly setting out to restrict the amount of time that Germany can have in possession. They are pressing high and quickly in these early stages. In fact, they almost break through on goal as Ivanschitz knocks a pass over the top from Arnautovic's knock-down, but Weimann was in an offside position.
1'
We are underway in Munich!
Boateng passes the ball straight out of play from the edge of his own box with just 20 second played. Not the start the Bayern Munich defender would have wanted!
Hello and welcome to tonight's LIVE commentary on the Uefa World Cup Qualifying Group C meeting between the unbeaten Germany and their neighbours, Austria. Joachim Low's side can book their place in Brazil with two wins in the upcoming qualifiers and will be hopeful of getting their first of those tonight. My name is Tom Webber and I will be guiding you through the action.
There is no Bastian Schweinsteiger, Mario Gotze or Ilkay Gundogan for the hosts tonight, but the coach is still able to name a strong squad. Full line-ups are coming up.
Miroslav Klose starts ahead of Mario Gomez tonight and the 35-year-old is just one goal short of equalling Gerd Muller's all-time scoring record for Germany of 68 goals. Will tonight be the night that he joins the national legend at the top of the scoring charts?
There is also another milestone to be reached tonight as Philipp Lahm makes his 100th appearance for the national team. The Germany captain's centenary will be completed tonight in a full house at the Allianz Arena.
The national anthems are now being played. This Austria squad includes nine German-based players in its ranks. I'm sure that will not have any bearing on how they perform tonight, though.
The pre-match formalities are all but over now and kick off will be upon us surely. I'm really looking forward to this.
The right-back is honoured before the game, alongside former Bayern player Michael Ballack. Looks like a cracking atmosphere inside the Allianz Arena. Hopefully we will get a performance to match.
HALF TIME: Germany 1-0 Austria - Klose's strike not only equals Gerd Muller's all-time scoring record for Germany of 68 goals, but gives die Mannschaft a deserved advantage at the break. There are still defensive frailties, though, and while there is only one goal in it they may feel they have a chance of a result.
Welcome back! The teams are making their way back out onto the pitch so the second half should be under way shortly.
The second half will begin in 15 minutes so be sure to stick here and join me for it.
It looks like that blow to the head has meant Schmelzer cannot participate in the second half. Howedes is his replacement.
FULL TIME: Germany 3-0 Austria - Goals from Klose, Kroos and Muller secure a vital three points for die Mannschaft as victory over Faroe Islands in midweek will book their place in Brazil. Austria's hopes take a severe dent, though, as Sweden move into second position following their win over Ireland.
Thank you for joining us for tonight's encounter. My name is Tom Webber, and it has been a pleasure to guide you through the action.
