Copa Libertadores Wrap: Atletico Mineiro snatch late draw
A last-gasp strike from Luan helped Brazil's Atletico Mineiro draw 2-2 with Tijuana in the Copa Libertadores quarter-final first leg.
Playing at the Mexican club's Estadio Caliente home, the hosts took the lead just after the half-hour mark on Thursday thanks to a goal from Colombian striker Dubier Riascos.
The lead was 2-0 eight minutes into the second half when playmaker Fidel Martinez beat Mineiro goalkeeper Victor, but the Brazilians refused to lie down and hit back on the 66-minute mark through Diego Tardelli.
The Mexican club thought they had done enough to secure the advantage heading into next week's second leg in Brazil, but there was one more late twist in the tale.
Luan was the man who levelled in the 92nd minute, after Tardelli had turned provider, and the Brazilians will be delighted to have scored two vital away goals.
Thursday's other match saw the all-Argentine clash between Boca Juniors and Newell's Old Boys finish in a 0-0 stalemate.
Neither side could break the deadlock in a tight affair at Boca's Estadio Alberto Jacinto Armando, and the home side received a blow for the second leg in stoppage time, with centre back Guillermo Burdisso sent off for a second caution.
