Copa Libertadores Wrap: Atletico, Flu reach last eight
Atletico Mineiro and Fluminense have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores after wins on Wednesday.
Mineiro won the first leg of their clash with fellow Brazilian club Sao Paulo 2-1 last week, and finished the job in some style at home, cruising to a 4-1 thumping at the Estadio Raimundo Sampaio.
Striker Jo scored a hat-trick for the hosts, adding to Diego Tardelli's strike, while Luis Fabiano's late goal was nothing more than a consolation for Sao Paulo.
Sao Paulo's Thiago Carleto and Mineiro substitute Rosinei clashed in stoppage time, leading both men to be sent off by referee Roberto Silvera.
In Wednesday's other match, Fluminense had to come from behind to seal a 3-2 aggregate triumph over Ecuadorian outfit Emelec thanks to a 2-0 home win.
Trailing 2-1 after the first leg in Guayaquil, Fluminense were back on level terms when Fred scored just before the half-hour mark, and an 85th-minute goal from Carlinhos was enough to secure their progression to the last eight.
