Liga MX wrap: Santos Laguna rally to move third
Santos Laguna climbed to third spot on the Liga MX table, with a come-from-behind 2-1 home win over Toluca on Friday.
The hosts at Estadio Nuevo Corona trailed at the main break following a 29th-minute strike to Toluca's Lucas Silva.
But a quick-fire turnaround saw Santos in front in a matter of four second-half minutes, as Cesar Ibanez (66th minute) and Oribe Peralta (70th) found the back of the net to extend their team's unbeaten streak to eight matches in the Mexican top flight.
Pedro Caixinha's men now trail league leaders Tigres UANL by three points, although they have played a game more.
Toluca are ninth on 18 points, missing the chance to climb as high as fifth.
Morelia made no such mistake though, as their 1-0 win over Queretaro fired them to just outside the top four.
Playing in front of their own fans at Estadio Generalisimo Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon were frustrated for most of the encounter, but had Hector Mancilla to thank for the winning goal on 78 minutes.
The loss leaves Queretaro in 10th spot, level with Toluca on points and goal difference (-3).
Morelia are on 21 points, four behind fourth-placed America.
