CONCACAF Champions League: Monterrey 1 Los Angeles 0 (agg 3-1)

11 April 2013 06:13

Monterrey moved into their third straight CONCACAF Champions League final after a 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Galaxy on Wednesday.

The Liga MX outfit, two-time defending champions, completed a 3-1 aggregate victory in the semi-final thanks to Aldo de Nigris' 81st-minute goal at Estadio Tecnologico.

Awaiting them in the final are fellow Mexican side Santos Laguna, who they beat in the decider last season.

Monterrey will be aiming to become the first team since Cruz Azul (1969-71) to win the competition three straight times.

Victor Vucetich's men were in control of the tie after their 2-1 win at the Home Depot Center on Thursday.

They never looked like relinquishing their advantage with the Galaxy needing at least two goals in Mexico.

It was the hosts who netted nine minutes from full-time.

A fine team move down the right released Cesar Delgado, who cutback for de Nigris to side foot through the legs of Galaxy goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini.
