Zubizarreta lauds ´magician´ Iniesta

10 February 2013 16:47

Andoni Zubizarreta labelled Andres Iniesta a "magician" after the midfielder's display in Barcelona's 6-1 win over Getafe on Sunday.

The midfielder set up the opening goal for Alexis Sanchez after just six minutes, and scored himself in the 90th minute of a match Barca controlled from start to finish.

"We had a magician wearing orange boots and the number eight, handing out the ball," Barca sporting director Zubizarreta told Canal Plus.

The win moves Barca 16 points clear of arch-rivals Real Madrid.

Zubizarreta added that he had never spoken with Sandro Rosell about the prospect of signing one of their fierce rivals' players, following the president's revelation that he was admirer of one of Jose Mourinho's players.

"I speak very little with him (Rosell) about players, and never about Real Madrid players. Only when we play against them. They have a great squad," he said.

The former Barca goalkeeper then revealed he will paying a visit to Tito Vilanova as the head coach continues his recovery from a cancer relapse.

"I'm going to see him (Tito) in person and we will talk about football, as we usually do when we are together, and so I can touch him and see him," he said.

"We all also discuss the future."

Roura trusts Barca to maintain focus

9 February 2013 19:02

Jordi Roura does not believe his Barcelona team are in danger of complacency when they tackle Getafe in La Liga on Sunday.

Barca boast a commanding position at the top of the league table, nine points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid.

Few observers will be expecting any outcome other than a home win when 12th-placed Getafe arrive at Camp Nou, but Barca assistant coach Roura has insisted his players will be fully focused.

"I really don't think we will be complacent against Getafe. Getafe and their coach are a very tidy team, with the lines very together, they push you a lot, they are good defensively and they are intense," Roura said.

"When their coach was with Levante they were already a difficult rival to beat and now it is going to be the same. We cannot be relaxed if we want to get the points and keep our current position."

With the team used to playing in the evening due to their frequent appearances on primetime television, Roura and his squad have had to make some adjustments in readiness for a midday kick-off on Sunday.

"It's true that playing at 12 (noon) will change the normal routine we have when preparing for a game," he said.

"After talking with the medical staff, we are going to concentrate today (Saturday) on having a proper dinner and having a good breakfast. These are the only alterations so far, but apart from that, it is going to be a time modification that effects both teams, so I expect that it really won't change anything in our performance."
