Copa del Rey wrap: 10-man Malaga produce heroics
Malaga came from behind to clinch a 2-2 draw with Barcelona in a thrilling first leg of their Copa Del Rey quarter-final tie on Wednesday.
Nacho Camacho's 90th-minute goal earned a share of the spoils for Malaga, who had substitute Nacho Monreal sent off with 15 minutes to go at Camp Nou.
Barcelona, who beat Malaga 3-1 in La Liga at the weekend, were left stunned in the 26th minute when a defensive mistake allowed Manuel Iturra to open the scoring.
But the hosts were back on top soon after as goals from Lionel Messi and Carles Puyol within the space of two minutes put Malaga on the back foot.
Monreal was shown a straight red card for denying Pedro a clear opportunity on goal, forcing Malaga to search for an equaliser with only 10 men.
But with stoppage time looming, Duda crossed the ball to Camacho, who silenced the Barcelona faithful with a perfectly executed volley.
Meanwhile, Real Zaragoza played host to Sevilla in a 0-0 stalemate in the opening leg of their last-eight clash at La Romareda.
Sevilla almost took the lead in the opening half through Alvaro Negredo, who was correctly ruled offside after finding the net.
Negredo had a golden opportunity to break the deadlock in the dying stages but sent his effort well over the crossbar.
Malaga will entertain Barcelona in the second leg of their tie next week, while Zaragoza will travel to Sevilla in their bid for a place in the last four.
