Eredivisie wrap: Ajax close gap on PSV
Ajax closed the gap on league leaders PSV to one point after their 4-2 win at Willem II in an action-packed day of Dutch football.
The defending champions let a two-goal lead slip but fought back to claim a fifth successive Eredivisie victory on Sunday.
Siem de Jong and Danny Hoesen put the visitors in control with two goals in the space of three minutes but Willem hit back before the break through Aurelien Joachim and Genaro Snijders.
Frank de Boer's men, who had netted nine goals from four league games heading into the fixture, showcased their title credentials in the second half.
Finnish defender Nikolas Moisander restored Ajax's lead in the 72nd minute before Jody Lukoki put the result beyond doubt inside the final three minutes.
Meanwhile, Feyenoord overcame a resilient ADO Den Haag outfit 3-2 to move within a point of fourth-placed Vitesse, who were held to a 2-2 draw against RKC Waalwijk.
Just as Italian attacker Graziano Pelle opened the scoring for Feyenoord on 15 minutes, Den Haag hit back instantaneously through Mike van Duinen.
A penalty from Lex Immers seconds before the break ensured Feyenoord went into the interval with a 2-1 lead but the visitors equalised courtesy of a spot-kick of their own just shy of the hour mark.
The match appeared destined for a draw, however an unfortunate 87th-minute own goal from Den Haag midfielder Tjarron Chery handed Feyenoord a late win.
In Sunday's earlier game, Utrecht recorded a comfortable 3-1 triumph at home to Heerenveen thanks to a brace from Leon de Kogel.
