SPL: Dundee 0 Dundee United 3
Dundee United made it three wins from their past four games with a 3-0 derby success against Dundee in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday.
Peter Houston's side took the lead through Keith Watson after 17 minutes but the match was still in the balance until Jon Daly and Willo Flood struck late.
In front of more than 11,000 fans at Dens Park, Dundee – who are six points adrift at the bottom of the table – came out firing.
John Baird, Jim McAlister and Nicky Reilly all had early opportunities on goal, with their failure to convert proving costly.
Watson's goal came completely against the run of play, with his near-post header delighting the travelling United fans.
Baird then wasted a golden chance to level terms shortly after before Watson and Johnny Russell had attempts at the other end.
Dundee felt they should have won a penalty early in the second half when Gavin Gunning appeared to handle the ball but referee Willie Collum turned down their protests.
Dundee United striker Johnny Russell then hit the post before they made sure of the three points thanks to Daly's penalty, awarded when Stuart Armstrong brought down Gary Irvine with 19 minutes to play.
And Flood put the icing on the cake with his goal two minutes from time, with the former Manchester City midfielder's deflected strike capping off a superb United performance.
