SPL: Inverness 1 Motherwell 5
Motherwell moved to fourth place in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday with a 5-1 thumping of Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Stuart McCall's side went ahead in the 18th minute at Caledonian Stadium thanks to a Michael Higdon strike – his ninth league goal of the season – and they doubled their advantage three minutes later when Jamie Murphy scored.
Inverness emerged from the half-time break determined to show some fight in front of their home supporters, and they pulled a goal back just two minutes into the half through Irishman Richie Foran.
That was as close as they could get, however, as Adam Cummins restored Motherwell's two-goal advantage on 52 minutes, Estonian striker Henrik Ojamaa netted 20 minutes later and when Omar Daley scored in the dying stages Motherwell had wrapped up a comfortable win.
The victory moved Motherwell from eighth place into fourth, above St Johnstone on goal difference, but still five points behind leaders Celtic, while Inverness missed the chance to go third and dropped to seventh position.
