C. Lykogiannis enters the game and replaces K. Mitroglou.
90'
SAIHI GOES CLOSE FOR MONTPELLIER...Carroll doesn't move as a left-footed effort from the French side's midfielder whistles past his right-hand post. Close shave. Would only have been a consolation mind...
So, Olympiakos are seconds away from making it two wins in a row against Montpellier - to do their qualification chances from this group the world of good. The Greeks only impressed in flurries, but took their chances - which came, to a certain extent, courtesy of their visitors' generosity.
And the final whistle goes. Montpellier's Champions League hopes fade here in Greece thanks to goals from Machado, Greco and Mitroglou. Belhanda's penalty just wasn't enough for the French, who played some lovely football again, but lack goals up front and leak them at the other end.
89'
Belhanda, particularly, looks a real prospect. For the Greeks, you'd have to say Abdoun has been outstanding, although he's had some able support from the likes of Mitroglou, Greco and Holebas.
88'
Stats are showing that Montpellier have bossed the possession - and that's no surprise. The French side can definitely play nice football - they just need a few lessons (maybe from Olympiakos?) on how to win matches...
87'
L. Fejsa enters the game and replaces Paulo Machado.
The game's pretty much done and dusted here after those quickfire goals from the hosts, who are enjoying themselves now. Montpellier will be disappointed, bitterly so - they got back in the game and then chucked it away.
85'
J. Holebas gets yellow.
Camara and Holebas are involved in an ugly little skirmish - Holebas' bad challenge greeted with a kick-out from Camara that could have seen him see red...Holebas is booked, Camara gets away scot-free: officials maybe missed that.
83'
K. Mitroglou gets yellow.
Mitroglou's booked for his celebration there, but I'm sure he wont mind. What a great finish. Holebas deserves a load of credit too though - he whipped in a wonderful cross from the left that was literally made to measure for the Olympiakos striker who made absolutely no mistake
82'
K. Mitroglou has scored a goal for Olympiakos! Assist by J. Holebas.
3-1 OLYMPIAKOS!!!! - Mitroglou hammers into the roof of the net with an emphatic finish
80'
L. Greco has scored a goal for Olympiakos!
Congre's on for Montpellier then - and he's nearly done like a kipper straight away here by Mitroglou. Corner...
GOAL FOR OLYMPIAKOS - Greco puts the hosts back in front with a bobbling right foot effort in at the near post!
The Roma man, Greco, did well to get that on target there, but that highlighted Montpellier's defensive frailties once again - Belhanda's poor header landing at Greco's feet.
79'
D. Congré enters the game and replaces Hilton.
Minute
Description
77'
J. Tinhan gets yellow.
GREAT SAVE. Abdoun - a real livewire tonight - hammers in a great effort that Jourdren is equal to, luckily for Montpellier.
74'
David Fuster enters the game and replaces F. Modesto.
Camara sweeps in a cross from the right, aimed at Charbonnier, but Carroll scoops it up
Fuster's on for Olympiakos - and he owes his side a goal from the first meeting between the two sides if I remember rightly: he missed a sitter of a header!
73'
This result doesn't really suit both sides - they need wins if they want to think about a top two finish in this group. Hopefully, we can expect to see a deluge of further goalmouth action...
72'
Charbonnier has been excellent for Montpellier since he's come on and has just won a free-kick to break up a little patch of Olympiakos pressure
70'
Ok, to recap! Montpellier were getting on top and went close through Camara and Marveaux before Camara was pulled down by Siovas for a penalty. A definite penalty. Belhanda scored it and then Machado nearly equalised immediately after. There we go...phew.
68'
OLYMPIAKOS NEARLY HIT STRAIGHT BACK...Machado goes close but is denied by some fantastic defending from Bedimo. Wow, the game's definitely livened up!
67'
Penalty goal scored by Y. Belhanda for Montpellier!
BELHANDA steps up...
AND IT"S THERE...Belhanda, Montpelliers best player tonight so far, does a little stutter and slides it past Carroll.
66'
F. Modesto gets yellow.
D. Abdoun gets yellow.
PENALTY TO MONTPELLIER - Camara pulled down
63'
MONTPELLIER NEARLY EQUALISE....TINHAN GETS IN after a sliderule pass from Belhanda, but is denied by Carroll sliding out from his goal
MONTPELLIER GO EVEN CLOSER...oh, dear Marveaux heads right at Carroll from six yards out. Anywhere, but there and we were at 1-1
62'
J. Tinhan enters the game and replaces A. Mounier.
In again from Belhanda...but Olympiakos clear the danger.
Mounier's making way for Tinhan here - the French wideman has played decently, but - like the rest of Montpellier's side - hasn't been able to add a creative spark in the final third.
61'
A SECOND CORNER after some pinball in the hosts defence...
60'
Corner for Montpellier - Mounier's cross headed out by Holebas
59'
Olympiakos are comfortable here - they're pressing high up the pitch and controlling the game territorially even if their visitors are still looking neat and tidy in possession
57'
Abdoun's had a good game so far tonight - he's stretching Montpellier on the left and giving Olympiakos a good out ball on the flank
54'
OLYMPIAKOS THREATEN, BUT JOURDREN COMES TO THE RESCUE FOR MONTPELLIER...the French side's goalkeeper flicking the ball to safety off the tip of Mitroglou's foot after he'd been played in by Greco
There are definitely gaps at the back in that French defence tonight...can the Greeks exploit them further?
51'
IT"S END TO END HERE - Abdoun goes straight up the other end and slides a lovely ball across the six-yard box, but Mitroglou - well shepherded - is unable to get near it.
50'
MONTPELLIER PLAYING SOME MORE LOVELY STUFF...Belhanda sliding through another lovely ball for Camara down the right flank...but it just evades the front man
48'
OLYMPIAKOS ARE ON THE ATTACK...pressing down Montpellier's right early on. Jardim has maybe told them to up the tempo.
THAT WAS CLOSE FOR OLYMPIAKOS - Torrossidis whips in a cross that Mitroglou is hovering around for...but Yanga Mbiwa clears with an outstretched leg.
46'
G. Charbonnier enters the game and replaces R. Cabella.
45'
Half-time's nearly upon us and it's a been a strange half - Olympiakos taking their foot right off the gas after scoring. Montpellier have looked good after the goal except defensively...where they're an accident waiting to happen
RIGHT WE'RE OFF AGAIN IN THE SECOND PERIOD...Charbonnier on for Montpellier to add some goalscoring prowess. They hope...
44'
L. Greco gets yellow.
43'
S. Camara gets yellow.
41'
G. Bocaly gets yellow.
Bocaly goes in the book for persistent fouling...
38'
Olympiakos have really taken a back seat since the goal here - happy to let the French side dictate...
34'
CORNER for Olympiakos after Machado gets into a dangerous position on the right and whips in a decent ball...corner's taken: but a load of bodies collide and the ball goes out for a goal-kick.
32'
MITROGLOU FIRES WIDE FOR OLYMPIAKOS...played in by Abdoun after another Yanga-Mbiwa error and, when he was better placed to cross, Mitroglou directs a wayward effort well wide. Can Yanga-Mbiwa survive another clanger??
31'
Half a chance....Ball's whipped in, but the ball's headed over by Machado despite him being well-placed. Montpellier don't look great at the back tonight.
30'
FREE-KICK IN DANGEROUS AREA FOR THE HOSTS - Mitroglou caught by a flailing elbow from Hilton.
29'
Camara's looking dangerous - Montpellier's midfield are looking to slide him in and you wouldn't bet against it with the ball the French champions are seeing at the moment
27'
CHANCE FOR MONTPELLIER - Souleymane Camara latches onto a long ball between the centre-backs, but with Carroll committed dinks the ball wide of the target. The French side's best chance so far...they have responded well to going behind.
25'
However, Carroll isn't tested and the corner comes to nothing.
24'
Corner for Montpellier after Belhanda's free-kick is cleared...
23'
OLYMPIAKOS THREATEN...Yanga-Mbiwa, who's looked shaky so far, gives the ball away and Abdoun gets away down the left. He finds Mitroglou, whose harshly penalised for a push. That was dangerous. The French defence seems their achilles heel...
20'
The French are still pressing and have just been on the wrong end of a bad call...Belhanda playing Bedomi in with a sliderule pass, only for the flag to go up. Wrongly as it turns out.
18'
It's been a decent response from Montpellier since going behind. Much like the last game, however, they have a habit of looking impressive without creating chances...they need to tonight...
16'
CARROLL'S FLAPPING AGAIN. Belhanda whips in another free-kick from the left and although the Northern Irishman gets there, he does so only just...not convincing so far.
14'
The Greeks have taken their foot off the pedal since the goal. Montpellier are playing in their hosts half and looking to make things happen. A loss tonight and that's game over for them, in terms of European football this season, really.
11'
Great reaction save from the Montpellier keeper, who was put under real pressure by his own defender - Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa getting out-muscled by Kostas Mitroglou who fired off an effort from ten meters out.
9'
The French have bounced back a bit: Mounier nearly getting in behind the Greeks there - only to be denied by a last-ditch tackle from Torossidis
8'
Carroll's just flapped at a free-kick whipped in from the left under pressure from Marveaux...that was half a chance for the French side
6'
The French side were hoping to quieten the crowd, but that's not happening!
4'
Paulo Machado has scored a goal for Olympiakos!
GOAL. OLYMPIAKOS TAKE THE LEAD through Paulo Machado! What a start for the Greeks - their fans are going wild! A break down the left saw Mitroglou hit the post and with Montpellier hoping for the ball to safety in came Machado to smash home.
3'
It's been a low-key start here so far, the Greeks on the front foot and probing patiently...
2'
Olympiakos' Roy Carroll, the old Man United 'keeper just got his first touch,,,but it was only a goal kick...
1'
AND WE"RE OFF. Olympiakos kicking off...
Good evening all and sundry and welcome to Goal.com's LIVE coverage of tonight's Match Day 4 Champions League clash between Olympiakos and Montpellier at the Stadio Georgios Karaiskáki. I challenge you to say that fast a few times without mucking it up! It's pretty much make-or-break time for Montpellier tonight, as they currently prop up a group that also contains Schalke and Arsenal. A win tonight for Olympiakos, meanwhile, will pretty much secure them a Europa League spot and keep their Champs League dreams alive. It's all to play for!
The two sides met in the last round of matches, Leonardo Jardim's men snatching victory from the jaws of defeat with two late goals, the last from Kostas Mitroglou coming in the last minute. The result was harsh on Montpellier who played the better football and dominated much of the game, but them's the breaks in the dog-eat-dog world of the Champions League.
Montpellier's scorer that night Gaetan Charbonnier is on the bench tonight as the French side's boss Girard Rene chooses to hand a start to Senegalese forward Souleymane Camara.
Olympiakos, meanwhile, are still without Avraam Papadopoulos as the defender is currently still sidelined following the knee injury he suffered whilst playing for Greece in the 2012 European Championships.
Right, without further ado: your teams for this evening's blockbuster...
The players are all warmed up and ready and we're gearing up for kick-off!
Ok, Matchday Four's nearly underway here. The Greek champions versus the surprise winners of Ligue 1 last season. Both teams are all lined up and listening to that dramatic Champions League music...
Our match officials this evening are all Croatian, just for your information...the ref being M. Strahonja
Leonardo Jardim will be a happy man at the break - it's not pretty from the Greeks, but they're 1-0 up and looking good for another three points, as despite looking good with the ball, Montpellier look liable to self-destruct at the back and lack a cutting edge up top at the moment.
The key at the moment for Montpellier is to try and get some shots off - it sounds basic, but for all the pretty prompting of Younes Belhanda and Remy Cabella they have created very little clearcut apart from Camara's stretched dink that went wide
You'd think there will be more goals here too...Montpellier have nothing to lose and Olympiakos will be hoping to get at them on the counter
In terms of Olympiakos' Champions League aspirations: well, they're right in it now - a three-horse race between Leonardo Jardim's side, Schalke and Arsenal awaits.
I hope you've enjoyed the commentary - what looked like it may be a drab affair certainly livened up second-half and Mitroglou's goal was certainly one to savour. This is Goal.com, I've been Stephen Gillett and this is very a cheesy way to sign off tonight. Thanks for watching.
