James McArthur advances through the centre of midfield before sliding a through ball to Kone on the right side of the box. The Ivorian's low shot is however saved by Jaaskelainen, in what looks to be the last meaningful act of the game.

J. Tomkins has scored a goal for West Ham United! Assist by G. McCartney.

Wigan's midfield trio of McArthur McCarthy and Maloney show their technique with a flowing series of passing triangles in midfield, before a loose touch allows Maiga to intercept and advance towards goal, however the Malian hesitates in possession on the edge of the box when faced with the massed Latics defence and gives the ball away.
85'
Maloney tees up McCarthy on the left edge of the box but his effort to curl the ball into the top right corner is saved. West Ham are not threatening despite having put so many men forward in search of a goal.

83'
Kone out-paces Winston Reid on the right flank, and he puts a low ball across the box in search of his two teammates running in and wins a corner for his trouble.
81'
Robert Martinez can be heard urging his new substitute Ben Watson to keep the ball as his side look to control possession with just over ten minute remaining. A few seconds earlier James Collins had cleared a cross at the near post but there were few players available to meet the cross, and it may not be worth committing players forward in an attempt to make such play down the flanks a successful option.

46'
M. Maïga enters the game and replaces Y. Benayoun.
West Ham bring on striker Modibo Maiga in place of Yossi Benayoun, who had a quiet first half. Though not such a towering figure as Andy Carroll, the Malian's pace, power, and skill will be more in keeping with his side's aerial game.

Goal Wigan! Ivan Ramis! The Latics win a corner on the left flank taken by Jean Beausejour and the Spanish centre back is unmarked and drifts away from the goal before smashing the ball on the volley into the centre of the goal with his left foot. From a Sam Allardyce side you don't expect such poor organisation from a set piece, but it the volley showed excellent technique and ensures an exciting start to the game.
6'

The Scottish international instantly controls and releases Arouna Kone down the right channel and the Ivorian promptly looks for Di Santo running towards the back post, but the ball is blocked for a corner. The game gets underway at the DW Stadium and West Ham's George McCartney advances up the pitch from left back to launch a dangerous cross into the box with just seconds on the clock.
Hi and welcome to Goal.com's Live coverage as Wigan take on West Ham at the DW Stadium. I'm @arthurvirgo here to talk through the events. Make your voice heard on Twitter @goaluk.
The game gets underway at the DW Stadium and left back George McCartney advances from left back to whip in a dangerous cross just a few seconds after the whistle blows.
Wigan name an unchanged 3-4-3 line up from week's defeat away at Swansea, with centre back Antolin Alcaraz yet to recover from a groin injury.
West Ham's James Tomkins retains his place at right back in place of the injured Guy Demel, while Yossi Benayoun and Matt Jarvis take up places on the two flanks either side of Andy Carroll, with Ricardo Vaz Te and Matt Taylor both yet to recover from injury.
Midfielder Mohamed Diame faces his former club having left the Latics in the summer after three years at the club before signing for the Hammers. His teammate Kevin Nolan is his the top scorer with four goals, but he has yet to net away from home this season.
Striking duo Franco Di Santo and Arouna Kone are responsible for 6 of the Latics' 8 goals so far this season.
It's Half Time at the DW Stadium. It's Half Time at the DW Stadium, after an end-to end first half that has seen Wigan take a deserved lead into the dressing room at the break. Ivan Ramis' sumptous volley after just 8 minutes separated the two sides after the corner swung wide towards the edge of the box before the unmarked Spaniard lashed in. But Wigan have frequently been able to slice through the Hammers midfield before finding shooting opportunities around the edge of the box, with Shaun Maloney often at the heart of proceedings. Sam Allardyce's side have struggled to cope with the pace and power of Arouna Kone and Franco Di Santo with, and as well as Kone and Maloney, James McCarthy has also forced vital saves from Jussi Jaaskelainen. Apart from a brief spell in which the Hammers had Roberto Martinez' side penned in from a string of corners, West Ham have been second best and Sam Allardyce will want to make sure his side tighten up after the break. Martinez would likely prefer a less open game given his team have the lead, but he will be content with his side's confident display, though concentration will be required throughout the second half as Andy Carroll has, as usual, posed a significant threat in the air.
It's full time at the DW Stadium, and Wigan deservedly collect their first win in seven league matches.
Roberto Martinez' side put together a very impressive display to shut down West Ham's attacking threat through the aerial ability of Andy Carroll, and control midfield through the impressive trio of James McCarthy, James McArthur, and Shaun Maloney. Maloney was the pick of the bunch, having frequently picked up the ball between the lines to good effect from the outset. While their opening goal through Ivan Ramis came after an excellent finish following poor marking at a corner, it was what the home side deserved after the Latics had much the better of an end-to-end the first half and restricted the Hammers to one flurry of chances through Matt Jarvis and Andy Carroll. Maloney also assisted the second goal, showing good awareness to lay the ball off inside the box to James McArthur who put his side two in front just after the half time break. The pace and power of striking duo Arouna Kone and Franco Di Santo had led to several opportunities over the course of the game and the pair grew more influential as the game became stretched when West Ham poured men forward in search of a winner. But Martinez' three man defence remained well organised throughout the match, and although Andy Carroll was dominant in the air as usual, this route brought no success with the Latics were on hand to pick up any knockdowns. The Hammers showed a lack of invention as the match wore on, and despite a late consolation goal through James Tomkins, Sam Allardyce will be disppointed with his side's display after a long journey away from home. Martinez on the other hand will be delighted after his side deservedly ended their six game winless streak.
