Baup applauds Marseille masterclass

Marseille coach Elie Baup has praised his free-scoring side after their 5-1 UEFA Europa League win over AEL Limassol.

The French side came from a goal down to beat their Cypriot opponents, and Baup hopes they can gain momentum from the resounding victory at the Stade Velodrome.

"It's good to score goals, it's never easy to score five goals, even if some think the opposite," Baup said.

"And it's good for the mentality because we received a big slap at Valenciennes and we needed a good result tonight. It helps us mentally and scoring goals is also the objective of football."

Baup added he was prepared for a fired up AEL on Thursday, claiming any competitive match is a test, especially with a youthful squad.

"It was expected (AEL would be tough to play). The beginning was hard because the opponent's pressing was good. Us, we had to find ourselves, it's never easy to change 50 percent or more of the team (and win)," he said.

"There were a lot of new players, it's never easy. They don't have rhythm and habits, and as I always say, competition is something else, even if you train hard.

"Then you need to be attentive on free kicks because our opponent had chances once again on free kicks and corners."
