Eredivisie wrap: Ajax end Twente run, Feyenoord rampant
A long-range stunner from Christian Eriksen has given Ajax Amsterdam a 1-0 win over Eredivisie-leaders Twente Enschede, as Feyenoord won 5-1.
Twente went into Saturday's match with a perfect record over their first six games of the 2012/13 campaign, but Ajax ended that run to move within three points of the leaders on the Eredivisie table.
In the 68th minute, Ryan Babel laid the ball off for Eriksen and the Danish midfielder smashed it home from 20 metres.
In Rotterdam, fourth-placed Feyenoord were too strong for NEC Nijmegen, with Lex Immers scoring a second-half hat-trick in the home side's four-goal win.
Italian striker Graziano Pelle put Feyenoord 2-0 up at half-time, scoring in the 16th and 44th minutes with Daryl Janmaat setting up both goals.
Immers scored a penalty two minutes after the break to extend Feyenoord's lead but NEC hit back a couple of minutes later thanks to a goal from Soren Rieks.
The home team were not finished, however, with Immers scoring in the 63rd and 85th minutes to wrap up a huge win for Feyenoord, who sit five points behind Twente on the table.
In Almelo, ADO Den Haag had Danny Holla to thank for their 3-3 draw away to Heracles.
Den Haag led through an own goal from Lerin Duarte in the 11th minute before Heracles hit back nine minutes later when Willy Overtoom scored from the spot.
Holla converted a penalty for Den Haag in the 24th minute but the third spot-kick of the half went to Heracles five minutes later, with Overtoom making no mistake and the match was tied at 2-2.
The home team were in front at half-time thanks to Ninos Gouriye's 32nd-minute goal to cap off a dramatic opening period.
But Den Haag ended up with a share of the points thanks to Holla's second goal of the game in the 73rd minute.
Vitesse Arnhem moved within a point of Twente with a 2-1 win away to Utrecht, while Heerenveen defeated NAC Breda 2-0.
