We are underway at the Giuseppe Meazza!
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Goal.com's live coverage of the Serie A clash between Inter Milan and Siena. My name is Max Bentley and I'll be bringing you up-to-date with all the action from the Giuseppe Meazza.
Inter are strong favourites for this one, having bounced back to winning ways against Torino last weekend, whilst Siena are searching for their first win of the season as they seek to make up for their six point deduction.
INTER TEAM NEWS: Andrea Stramaccioni makes five changes from the side which snatched a late draw against Rubin Kazan in midweek, recalling Juan, Alvaro Pereira, Fredy Guarín, Wesley Sneijder and Diego Milito to the starting XI.
SIENA TEAM NEWS: Siena coach Serse Cosmi makes two changes. Matteo Rubin is replaced by Felipe in defence whilst Zé Eduardo is given a starting berth up front in place of Ribair Rodriguez after an impressive substitute cameo performance in Siena's 2-2 draw against Udinese last Sunday.
Siena (3-4-1-2) Pegolo; Neto, Paci, Felipe; Angelo, D'Agostino, Vergassola, Del Grosso; Rosina; Zé Eduardo, Calaiò.
Inter are somewhat a bogey team for the Biaconeri, having failed to register a victory in their last ten clashes. Inter were the victors in their most recent meeting, a 2-1 home victory back in April when Diego Milito scored twice despite Gaetano D'Agostino's opener.
Both teams emerge from the tunnel and there will be a minute's silence to respect former CONI President Arrigo Gattai, who passed away earlier this week.
HALF TIME: It's all square at the half-way point and Siena will be the happier of the two sides. They settled into the game excellently during the opening 25 minutes but have been on the back foot for the closing stages and have Pegolo to thank for the fact that they are still on level terms.
Inter fans will be happy to know that AC Milan are 1-0 down to Udinese at the break courtesy of Mathias Ranégie's 40th minute strike.
The Nerazzurri have looked dangerous in parts but they have struggled to get Milito involved. If they can provide more service to the Argentine, their fortunes could change in the second period.
FULL TIME! A shock defeat for Inter at home to Siena. In truth, the home side were disappointing but credit is due to Serse Cosmi's side.
Inter may look back and rue that chance for Sneijder midway through the first half but Stramaccioni will be concerned with the lack of clear-cut opportunities his side created today.
With that result Siena still stay rooted at the foot of the table but are now on -1 point and only three points from safety. Serse Cosmi will be delighted with the resilience and spirit shown by his side and he will look to build on that performance when Siena entertain Bologna at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Thursday.
As for Inter, their home form continues to be their achilles heel as they once again fail to rack up back-to-back victories. They look to revive their Scudetto bid when they travel to Chievo on Wednesday.
Thank you for joining me on what has been a major upset at the Giuseppe Meazza, with Siena emerging as 2-0 winners courtesy of goals from Simone Vergassola and Francesco Valiani. Goodbye.
