FULL-TIME: LILLE 1-3 BATE BORISOV - a historic first win for the Belarusians in the Champions League!
Boos for Lille at the Grand Stade Lille Metropole, with Rudi Garcia's side overrun in a shock first-half performance. That's it from me, stay with Goal.com for coverage from all other CL ties this evening!
90' +2
BATE have played out of their skins this evening, a well-deserved scoreline. They've combined the first half of counter-attacking skill with a second half defensive masterclass.
90' +1
Into injury time, and Bressan's free-kick is palmed down by Landreau. BATE on the verge of a historic victory.
90'
R. Mavuba gets yellow.
Final substitution from BATE - Mozolevski replaces Rodionov.
BATE have a free-kick on the edge of the area, with Mavuba booked for a challenge on Renan Bressan.
89'
D. Mozolevskiy enters the game and replaces V. Rodionov.
Rodionov aims to pick out Hleb, in a three-against-two situation, but it's expertly cut out by Chedjou.
88'
BATE's defence have so far, managed to repel the furious attacking onslaught deployed by the hosts. The likes of Radkov, Simic and Bordachev have contributed well to Goncharenko's side.
86'
Bressan, the substitute concedes a free-kick for a challenge on Chedjou. The hosts have all but relinquished the three points here, if you didn't already know that in the first half!
85'
D. Sidibé enters the game and replaces M. Debuchy.
Substitution - Djibril Sidibe on for Mathieu Debuchy - Lille's final substitution.
84'
Lile still snatching at those chances, as Mendes fails to notice Bordachev behind him, who dispossesses immediately. Just over five minutes left.
Comical once more from Lille, as Debuchy again looks to whip in a cross from the right, but Balmont in the way, blocks his attempt.
82'
Substitution for BATE Borisov - it's Renan Bressan on for Pavlov. Eight minutes to go.
Minute
Description
81'
HLEB! He should've made it 4-1. The former Arsenal man was free on goal, only challenged by Debuchy who was tracking back, but his finish edges over the bar.
80'
R. Bressan enters the game and replaces A. Pavlov.
BALMONT! Wow, what a save by Gorbunov who is performing heroics! It's a wonderful move, and Balmont looks as if he's scored, but is denied by the legs of the goalkeeper!
79'
Frustrating once more, with Debuchy crossing again from the right, but Kalou has to chase as it goes behind him. Debuchy has really improved in this second half!
77'
PAYET! And the free-kick, destined for the top corner, is well saved by Gorbunov who has been brilliant so far. Punches it away.
76'
ROUX! They only have themselves to blame now. Digne pin-points Roux perfectly in the middle, but the striker attempts an audacious flick, and it goes wide.
Payet is challenged by Sivakov, and Lille have a free-kick in a dangerous position, about 25 metres out. They must make this one count if they are to comeback.
74'
Rudi Garcia's side piling on the pressure here as Mendes' cross in towards Kalou is again headed inches wide. The hosts are really making a go of this, but BATE Borisov are resolute.
73'
Lille should've had a penalty. BATE are lucky to get that one away. It's Hleb who touches the ball in a crowded box from Payet's corner. Meanwhile Digne fouls Rodionov.
72'
PAYET! Oh my, just how many are they going to spurn? Debuchy witha fantastic cross on the right, met by Payet on the volley. It initially looks to be going wide, before the deflection off Roux is cleared.
71'
Lille have now had 18 shots on goal, with 10 on target as their domination begins to tell. BATE have not had a shot in this half, as a poor cross in from Digne is easily held by Gorbunov.
70'
D. Polyakov gets yellow.
PAYET! The chances are coming, but they keep getting spurned! Another opportunity presents itself as Payet takes up possession and unleashing a teasing shot which bounces in front of Gorbunov. BATE hurriedly get it away.
69'
MENDES! It's saved and turned away for a corner. Lovely bit of cross-play by the hosts as Debuchy's cross finds the impressive Mendes, who shoots at the near post. Should've done better.
67'
PAYET! Close, and Lille are knocking on the door as the hosts fans' respond. The winger cuts in, and a last-ditch tackle prevents him from working the goalkeeper.
66'
M. Sivakov enters the game and replaces D. Likhtarovich.
65'
And yes, BATE's first change. Captain Likhtarovich departs for Sivakov, 24 minutes left for the Belarusian champions to hold on, despite being two ahead.
64'
BATE crowding the defence in numbers to nullify any attack that Lille venture on. Bordachev and Simic in particular have responded with numerous blocks, and Goncharenko is set to make a change here.
63'
Rudi Garcia's half-time team-talk has had an effect it seems, as Lille dominate once more. Payet advances, a slight one-two with Digne. Lille calmly knocking the ball around before Radkov heads away.
62'
MENDES! Should've been 3-2 and BATE are beginning to crumble. The onslaught continues with Mendes and Kalou aiming to shoot for the same ball, Mendes takes the chance, but Gorbunov denies him.
61'
The momentum is now with Lille who have another corner, which Simic blocks away first-time. In reference to the first Lille goal, I'm not 100% sure it crossed the line.
60'
A. Chedjou has scored a goal for Lille! Assist by D. Payet.
GOOAAL!! THE COMEBACK IS ON! A corner is expertly whipped in, with Chedjou rising highest to power past Gorbunov. It comes back off the bar twice, and the players seemingly accepting that it's crossed the line. Not sure if it did.
59'
ROUX! Selfish play, and Lille should've got one back here. He finds space on the wing, and should've squared for the advancing Mendes first-time, but continues to run, with Radkov who denies him
57'
Kalou races down the middle and picks out Roux to his left. The pass is somewhat overhit, before the striker loses his footing, with Radkov taking up possession of the ball.
56'
Poor challenge from Debuchy who clatters into Bordachev and team-mate Mendes. Goncharenko's men are maintaining their overall shape in this second half, keeping out the hosts' attacking trio.
54'
N. Roux gets yellow.
A. Pavlov gets yellow.
BATE do not look content to just sit on their lead, and have a penalty claim turned down by referee Marcin Borski. The fans inside the Grand Stade are enraged in what they believe was simulation.
53'
L. Digne gets yellow.
A little fracas ensues after Digne concedes a free-kick for a challenge on Pavlov, who is enraged. Roux backs up his team-mate, and after some pushing and shoving - he is booked along with Pavlov.
52'
DEBUCHY! Again, the right-back decides to shoot from distance, and wins a corner. It's drifted in from the right, but the defence holds sway.
51'
Polyakov wasting a bit of time, a full 39 minutes before the full-time whistle. One would think he wouldn't have to, given his side are 3-0 up. He believes Kalou left an elbow in his shoulder, referee dismisses it.
50'
Polyakov receives a nasty kick to the shins by substitute Nolan Roux, but he will be alright. Meanwhile Bordachev is reprimanded for a late challenge on Mathieu Debuchy.
KALOU! Poor header, and the boos continue. The Ivorian has been rather abject in the game, and somewhat isolated. The cross from Debuchy delivered well, but the former Chelsea man can't connect well.
48'
Rodionov latches onto a weighted pass from the midfield, and surges into the box, but is easily barged off the ball by Chedjou.
47'
Early pressure from the hosts to try and cut the three goal deficit as Marko Basa clatters Bordachev. Free-kick to the visitors.
46'
N. Roux enters the game and replaces M. Martin.
Ryan Mendes enters the game and replaces Túlio de Melo.
Here we go in this second period, and what can Lille salvage from this match. For starters, we have two substitutions.
It's Marvin Martin off for Ryan Mendes, who just joined from Ligue 2 side Le Havre, with Tulio de Melo replaced by Nolan Roux.
45' +3
HALF-TIME: Lille 0-3 BATE Borisov.
45' +2
DIGNE! it's a fine save from Gorbunov, who tips it over. Probably wasn't going in, but the hosts have a corner to end this poor half.
45'
Two minutes of added time signalled to what has been a very odd half in football at the Grand Stade.
44'
Well, I'm absolutely speechless, as I'm sure you are. Lille have been dominating, but the defending has been so abject. Three clear cut chances for BATE, and all have been converted!
43'
E. Olekhnovich has scored a goal for BATE! Assist by A. Volodko.
GOOALL!! UNBELIEVABLE! It's 3-0 to BATE Borisov. The shock of the night keeps gathering pace! It's another fantastic move as Volodko seeks out Olekhnovich, who taps it in! So easy!
42'
OLEKHNOVICH! It's a fine save by Landreau who has blocked out the chance, but BATE are progressing here.....
40'
Slight dip in tempo here as we progress to the final five minutes of a shock first-half performance by BATE. Payet's corner in meets no-one, as de Melo is frustratingly called offside.
38'
V. Rodionov gets yellow.
Dimitri Payet's effort from distance is again charged down by Simic, with the winger winning a corner for his efforts. We have a goal in the group's other game - it's Bayern Munich 1-0 Valencia.
37'
Fouls becoming a little too prevalent at the minute, and BATE are getting a bit too carried away. First, it's Polyakov on Basa, before Rodionov is booked for a challenge on Chedjou.
36'
PAYET! Again should've done better, as Polyakov comes to the rescue once more. Brilliant first-time pass from Debuchy to find the winger in the box, and after turning Simic, his goal-bound shot was intercepted by Polyakov.
34'
Great ball by Payet on the far left, coming in on his favoured left, and finding Martin advancing on the other flank. Simic blocks him out, before another attack fizzles out.
33'
Lille had the best goals conceded to matches played ratio, only shipping 22 goals in 26 CL games. That probably will come under examination this evening after some abject defending.
31'
Les Dogues snatching at chances that come their way here. Debuchy is the guilty party once more, as he picks up the ball from distance, positions himself on the edge before firing wide.
30'
Polyakov fails to keep in the ball despite pressure from Digne. Lille now back to eleven with Chedjou returning to the field of play. He plays a fine pass to locate Debuchy, and fails to link with Kalou on the right.
29'
Break in play here as Aurelien Chedjou is treated after going down in the box. Seems like a back complaint, he went down in an awkward position.
28'
E. Olekhnovich gets yellow.
27'
MARTIN! What a howler, he should've buried that. A free-kick from the right was missed by the goalkeeper, and Martin who collected the ball before taking a touch, slammed wide. Should've hit the target.
26'
Digne shows pace on the wing, but is hacked down by Olekhnovich who had no intention of getting the ball there. Free-kick awarded to the hosts.
24'
I'll bring you an Ali-tastic statistic for you folks: BATE Borisov have never won a Champions League group game, and have now scored as many goals tonight, as in their last SIX away games in this competition (from the group stages)
23'
Lille rather shellshocked and it's reflecting on their somewhat jittery play so far. Digne feeds Martin on the wing, and the youngster's cross just evades Kalou in the centre.
22'
In contrast, Lille began their Champions League season 2-0 up against CSKA Moscow last year, before drawing 2-2. They face a steep challenge if they are to leave with three points.
21'
That was a superb goal, even with the hint of offside. The Polish officials have got it wrong, but slick attacking from the hosts culminating in Rodionov's goal. Rudi Garcia is incensed on the touchline.
20'
V. Rodionov has scored a goal for BATE! Assist by A. Pavlov.
OH IT'S 2-0 TO BATE! The hosts' fans are furious, and it's a fine counter-attacking move! We have a shock on the cards here. Olekhnovich surges forward on the left, and finds Rodionov square - and despite no offside call, the striker taps it in!
19'
Free-kick to Lille, on the right wing after Pavlov was reprimanded for a challenge on Balmont. It's easily headed away by Radkov, but Payet's second ball in is met by the goalkeeper.
18'
Believe it or not, that was just BATE's third goal away in the Champions League, out of what is now their seventh away game.
17'
If ever there was a poorly-worked free-kick, that was it. Bordachev was running free unnoticed on the far side, and wasn't even picked up, with the taker instead chipping the ball into the box. Suffice to say, nothing came from it.
15'
Rodionov goes down under a challenge by Chedjou, but after seemingly waving play on, the referee returns to the foul to some bemusement from the hosts fans. Free-kick to BATE, and it's within range.
14'
Likhtarovich's poor pass is picked off by opposite number Mavuba in midfield, but after finding Payet, the latter lets the ball run by, ending the move.
13'
Promising move by Pavlov on the far side has been curtailed by the offside flag. But generally, Goncharenko's side have started with the confidence needed to grind out a result.
12'
DEBUCHY! It was speculative, but they have won a corner off it. The right-back darts in from the wing and lets fly with a low shot. Goalkeeper saw it all the way, and it's turned around for a corner.
11'
D. Payet gets yellow.
10'
First yellow of the game already, and it's given to Dimitri Payet for diving after pressure from Polyakov. Stupid move, that - and he's rightly booked by the referee.
9'
Dodgy moment for BATE, who have now cleared the ball. Debuchy's ball to find Kalou was poor, but a mis-kick from Bordachev almost allowed Marvin Martin to collect the ball inside the penatly area.
8'
Rudi Garcia's men seem unperturbed by Volodko's opener, and they are set to issue a response. From a throw-in, it's flicked on into the box, with Tulio de Melo rising high to meet the ball, but his header nestles on top of the crossbar.
7'
Aleksandr Volodko - take a bow! What a strike that was, and it has literally silenced the home team. Lille were the better of the two sides so far, but that strike was of Champions League quality!
6'
A. Volodko has scored a goal for BATE! Assist by M. Bordachev.
OHH WHAT A GOAL! WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?! Absolute screamer from Volodko who lets fly from distance, and it nestles into the top corner. Bolt from the blue, and we have a shock lead!
5'
BALMONT! Second chance carved out in seconds by Lille, who have started positively here. Cross from Martin from the corner is deflected on, with Balmont scuffing wide from the edge of the area.
4'
KALOU! First chance of note, and the Ivorian's shot is well blocked by the goalkeeper Gorbunov. Found himself in a great bit of space, and should've done better.
3'
Late challenge from Balmont on Bordachev, and the midfielder is penalised seconds later for a challenge on Hleb. Certainly getting stuck in, but the hosts are on the break!
2'
BATE immediately lose possession, and it's Lille on the break, being powered by the energetic Marvin Martin. The goalkeeper found himself nowhere, with Bordachev having to clear.
Decent start in France, as Volodko catches out Aurelien Chedjou, and sweeps into the box, before Rodionov is bundled over by Basa. Half-chances at both ends already.
1'
And we are underway in the first group match ever at the 50,000-arena. BATE get us started, in their yellow kit, attacking from right to left.
Good evening, and welcome to Goal.com's LIVE! UEFA Champions League coverage. Tonight sees LOSC Lille Metropole host Belarusian champions BATE Borisov in the first ever group game at the new Grand Stade Metropole. Confirmed team news to come.
I'm Mohammed Ali, and I'll be guiding you through tonight's encounter. Feel free to send me your messages, comments, musings and opinion throughout via Twitter to @goal_intl or @mohammedali_93. Brilliant, and I'll post up a few.
Lille begin their fifth Champions League season in mediocre from. Their last two Ligue 1 games have ended in defeat to title rivals Paris Saint-Germain and a frustrating 1-1 draw with promoted ESTAC Troyes. Not exactly threatening form, in fact Les Dogues have failed to win any league game since the first weekend of the season! Tonight will give the hosts a perfect platform to prepare, with a tough examination against Lyon soon..
However, the French side - who exited the competition last season at this stage, gave away a first game lead to draw with CSKA Moscow, before being muscled out by the likes of Inter and Trabzonspor. Nevertheless, without the dazzling Eden Hazard, Rudi Garcia's men will want to give a better account of themselves, with sterner tests in Bayern Munich and Valencia to come in this group.
Meanwhile, BATE Borisov are on a sparking run of form, winning seven and drawing four of their last eleven games, last suffering defeat to Dinamo Minsk in July. The Belarusian side are currently sitting atop of their domestic league, sitting one point clear of rivals Shaktyor. Victor Goncharenko meanwhile, will have an equally difficult task to qualify for the last 16 this year, having failed to trouble Barcelona and AC Milan in 2011-12.
Lille coach Rudi Garcia remains philosophical of his side's form so far this season: "We've conceded at least one goal per game since the league started. But in terms of commitment and team spirit I have nothing to reproach the players for. We just need to try and push forward more, we need to be more consistent"
BATE coach Goncharenko meanwhile is wary of the threat the hosts pose tonight: Lille are a very good team and we have to be aware of that. They have not had a great start to the Ligue 1 season but they will raise their game for the Champions League. I hope the players will play with free spirit and without pressure. We are very organised and if we play our best football we can match anybody in the group."
TEAM NEWS: Lille are as expected, with Lucas Digne handed a start at left-back, and Marko Basa returning to replace Frank Beria at centre-back. Salomon Kalou, a winner of last year's competition with Chelsea starts, as Nolan Roux makes the bench. For BATE, it's only two changes from the side that beat Hapoel Kiryat Shmona in the play-offs, with a number of players including three of the back four, featuring for Belarus against France in World Cup qualifying last week.
Minutes away from kick-off here in northern France. Tonight's referee is Polish native Marcin Borski
And it's that Champions League anthem that rings out to some applause at the Grand Stade. Pleasantries over, and we are seconds away.
If there was a weirder football game, I'd want to see it. Lille have had a mammoth eleven shots in this half, hitting six on target. But they've been overrun by a side who have had only four shots, four on target and lead 3-0. Football's a crazy game sometimes.
If any Lillois thought their Champions League campaign was poor last year, then they will be incensed by this showing. Two of the goals had a hint of offside in them, but goals from Volodko, Rodionov and Olekhnovich have given the Belarusians a historic first-half lead.
Remember, BATE Borisov had never scored more than two goals in six away games in the Champions League. They've never won a match home or away. Goncharenko's side's half-time lead is all the more surprising.
The centre-back pairing of Basa and Chedjou, normally so solid in Ligue 1 and Champions League matches last season, have been torn a new one so far in this match. Offensively, Kalou, Debuchy, Martin and Payet have been lacking the quality to challenge Gorbunov.
