Brazil Serie A wrap: Vasco, Fluminense leapfrog Cruzeiro
Vasco da Gama jumped back to the top of the Brazil Serie A after coming from a goal down to defeat Ponte Preta 3-2 on Sunday.
Eder Luis and Diego Souza scored the decisive goals after half-time to rescue the three points for Vasco, who trailed 2-1 at half-time.
A double from Roger either side of Alecsandro's strike in the first half gave Ponte Preta the early advantage, but they could not hold on.
Luis struck just four minutes after half-time and was replaced by Souza shortly after the hour-mark before he went on to score the winner from the penalty spot.
Vasco are a point clear of Fluminense at the top of the table after their 2-0 win at Nautico.
Samuel Rosa was on target twice for Fluminense, tucking away former Chelsea midfielder Deco's ball on 31 minutes before scoring the sealer in the 72nd minute.
Sao Paulo made further inroads after their slow start to the season with a 3-2 win away to Cruzeiro to move up to sixth.
It was Sao Paulo's fourth win in seven after two losses in their first three matches to start the season.
Former Sevilla target man Luis Fabiano scored the opener while further strikes from Lucas and Jadson cancelled out Rafael Donato's brace for Cruzeiro, who slipped from the top to third after what was their first loss of the season.
