A-League wrap: Glory dent Mariners hopes
Central Coast Mariners had their lead in the A-League cut to two points after a 1-0 loss to Perth Glory on Sunday.
Glory attacker Travis Dodd capitalised on a rare error from teenager goalkeeper Mathew Ryan to score the only goal of the game on 25 minutes and make Graham Arnold's men winless in four league matches.
Ryan, who made several good saves throughout the encounter, spilled a deflected cross to see Dodd tap in at the near post.
In hot conditions in Perth, the Glory held off a late Mariners charge to move above the Wellington Phoenix into third spot, guaranteeing a finals place.
But the Mariners, who held an 11-point lead just weeks ago, are now only two points clear of the Brisbane Roar.
Earlier, Roar were forced to recover from a woeful start to salvage a come-from-behind 1-1 draw against Adelaide United.
Adelaide took the lead in the 15th minute courtesy of an Iain Ramsay strike, and they were rarely challenged until late in the encounter at Suncorp Stadium.
Defending champions the Roar equalised through Albanian striker Besart Berisha, who netted his 18th goal of the campaign in the 70th minute.
The visiting Adelaide side defended stubbornly but were lucky to leave with a point after the Roar squandered several late opportunities.
