VVV Venlo exceeded all expectations with a stunning 5-0 victory over Sparta Rotterdam in Sunday's Eredivisie action.
Ahead of the match, neither side was particularly favored to win. It soon turned out however that in this game, VVV were simply the better side.
Just six minutes had been played when Adil Auassar headed home from a Achmed Ahahaoui free kick, and the latter made it 2-0 himself in the 24th minute when a cross somehow ended up in the goal.
Keisuke Honda was of great influence for the third and fourth goals. On both occasions, the Japanese forward had a shot blocked by keeper Seliga and Sandro Calabro reacted by scoring on the rebound both times.
The fifth and final goal came from Kevin van Dissel in the 70th minute, in which VVV mostly focused on defending their comfortable lead.
