Grenoble vs. Lille

Goals from Yohan Cabaye, in the first-half, and Gervinho late on push the visitors into 14th.

LOSC Midfield duo Florent Balmont and Yohan Cabaye combined well on the edge of the area, with Cabaye controlling a Balmont assist on his chest before beating Ronan Le Crom in the home goal with a crossed shot.

Mickael Landreau, back in the Lille side after suffering a serious knee injury in pre-season, had been forced into action before that to deny Bostjan Cesar, and he also saved from Alaixys Romao as Grenoble battled gamely.

The sending-off of experienced defender David Jemmali in the 43rd minute left the home side with a mountain to climb, however. The former Bordeaux player was given his marching orders for two yellow cards in quick succession just before the break. The first was awarded for a tackle from behind on Pierre-Alain Frau, the second for contesting the decision.

The ten men continued to fight, with Landreau again called upon to save from Nassim Akrour. Laurent Courtois then blasted against the crossbar before LOSC killed the game in the dying stages.

The impressive Gervinho danced his away past the challenges of the Grenoble defence and into the box, where he fired past an exposed Le Crom to ensure the three points would be heading back to the north.
