Auxerre vs. Montpellier

The hosts edged in front with a quarter of an hour played. Aurélien Capoue crossed from the left, and Jelen found some space to convert the opening goal.

The decisive second goal arrived with less than half an hour on the clock, and it was a goal made in Poland. Dariusz Dudka crossed from the right this time, and Jelen again showed his predatory instinct to leave Montpellier with a mountain to climb.

In between Jelen's goals, Montpellier had come close to equalising when Victor Hugo Montaño saw his goal-bound strike cleared away. The visitors reacted well to falling two goals behind, dominating play and coming close when Alberto Costa hit the woodwork with a header and again when Joris Marveaux forced the save out of Olivier Sorin in the home goal.

Captain Nenad Dzodic did reduce the deficit in stoppage time, heading over Sorin from a Romain Pitau corner. It was a deserved goal, but it was to be too little too late for René Girard's side, who slump to a second defeat in a row.

After a barren start to the campaign, Jelen has now scored four in two games, as AJA join Montpellier on the 20-point mark.
